I was completely sucked in. The writing is so immersive, it feels like you're right there in the heart of the action. Even days—weeks—after finishing it, I still find myself thinking about the characters and all the what ifs. Love it! A fairytale retelling set in a world where the immortal vampires rule.  Ella lives in a small village, with her sister and stepmother. When her sister goes missing she goes on to look for her, only to end up getting caught by the immortal prince. She somehow doesn't end up dying and makes a huge impression on him.  She is supposed to hate him, but his face keeps lingering in her mind. When she gets word that her sister might be in a castle, she looks for a job there. She is rejected, but on the way out, she runs into the prince again and manages to calm him untamable horse. She always had an affinity for animals, but in the castle, that ability gets amplified.  She is worked to the bone by the crazy sisters but doesn't let it stop her. She works crazy hours, is insulted, and is looked down on constantly, but never loses hope and never stops searching for her sister. Her search brings her closer to the truth, and closer to the prince. He is bad news, but she can't...

There is no love between them at first, but discovering a secret makes them form an unlikely alliance.  The relationship between them is compilated enough, only adding to it are people working tirelessly to destroy the fragile peace between the kingdom and continue the war.  I love the art style, it is seriously beautiful, but I didn't like the story so much. And because the cover is stunning. :) The second time around I found myself getting totally sucked in and loving everything about it. It's addicting and fast-paced, you can't really put it down. I went into the story not knowing anything about it and got instantly hooked. It's so dark and moody and so addicting! :) It's set in a world full of magic. Some have a lot, some a little and some none at all. Six of the most talented people are recruited for a unique position every decade, and only five will make it through the first year. The Alexandrian society guards the lost knowledge, that is not for all to see. The five who make it through will be the guardians of the knowledge. They will have a life of success, wealth and power. One of the most romantic stories I've read in a long time. It's a super slow burn and super romantic.  Xie Lian has ascended to godhood three times, angering a lot of gods in the process. Now he has a lot of debts to pay and no money to do so. in the 800 years since he was a beloved crown prince, people forgot about him and there are no temples dedicated to him anymore. He is sent to the mortal realm to hunt down the violent ghosts that are causing trouble and earn enough to pay off all that he is owed. He meets a mysterious stranger along the way, who is clearly a lot more than he pretends to be. They have an instant connection... :) The fantasy world created is detailed and well-written writer and the romance is just the sweetest.
