It's the story that breaks you a little and stays in your heart forever. Charlotte's life is a difficult one. She found herself in the mental hospital, too hurt to even talk. She has cuts all over her arms and legs, but the ones that hurt the most are not visible. Growing up wasn't easy, it got harder after her dad died and her mom turned into someone much worse than before. She spent a lot of time with friends, doing stuff she wasn't supposed to, and relieved her pain with cutting.  She ended up on the streets and it just got harder from there.  Recovery is hard, but the hardest part comes after, learning how to live in a world that hurts you. Her mom won't take her and she ends up in Arizona, gets a job as a dishwasher, and starts to build her life... but then she falls in love. It's not the good kind of love and she ends up hurt again. It's a story of a broken girl, who has a hard time living in this world, and who gets beaten down again and again... but ...

I wanted to read this one for a long time, mostly because of the pretty cover. :) Avery is basically living on the streets. Her sister is back with her ex, who is a horrible person and she has no one else to turn to. She wants to finish school, get a scholarship, and escape it all. But then she receives the news of a lifetime. A billionaire died and left her a fortune. She and her sister quickly move all the way across the country, to her new house, which isn't empty. And the old inhabitants are exactly happy to see her there. Turns out that there were a lot of people hoping to get part of his fortune, but instead got peanuts, or nothing at all.  The thing is, though, there are conditions to her receiving the money and most importantly she needs to survive a year in the house, with people who she can't trust. But the boys are growing on her, and the mystery that they are trying to solve is sucking her in and soon she is fully emersed in the life of the house, but she will never...

Daniel is the only survivor of the mass shooting, in which the entirety of his football team died. The only reason he survived is because he was home sick. Now he doesn't feel much of anything, only numbness. He joins online the support group and meets Maya.  Maya lost her career due to a shot in the leg and has kind gave up on life since then. They have an instant connection, but the baggage they both will keep them apart unless they find a way to overcome it It's a page-turner! I couldn't stop reading from the start till the finish. The story is full of suffering and heartbreak and is told in a very real way. It shows the emotional wreckage such trauma can have on people, especially those who are so young, and the fallout that happens. But not all is so bleak, from a very dark place the Maya and Daniel grew hope as they connected.  The story deals with hard themes, like alcohol abuse, trauma, and survivor guilt, from the perspective of a person in the middle of it. I never read To All The Boys I Loved Before, I must have missed the hype, but one thing is for sure, this author can write. Each sentence flows into another perfectly, the story becomes alive before your eyes and pretty soon you cannot help but fall in love with all of the characters, no matter how flawed they are, and root for the happy ending, that is ever elusive.  I was swayed by the pretty cover and sucked in by the story. It's engaging and so vividly written.  Belly and Steren come to the Cousins Beach House every summer. Their mothers are best friends and they bring their kind together each year. The boys have always been tight, but Belly always fell a bit to the wayside. Until the last few years. Not to mention she has a ginormous crush on the older boy, Conrad. They have been best friends since college. She came to town to work in the lab and she needed a place to stay. He needed a roommate fast. The first time they met, they instantly clicked together and have been best friends and secretly in love with each other since then. He has a very unrealistic view of dating and is always with someone, but it never works out. She gave up on dating altogether. Then he comes up with a crazy idea. They both have to make an effort to date and if they don't find anyone by the time of the Christmas office party, they will get a family together. The change shakes up their relationship at its core. The more they look around the more obvious it becomes that what they are looking at is at their noses. But the path from best friends to HEA is anything but straightforward. Charlie is a comedian and Sarah is a widower. they meet at the wedding when friends try to set them up.  But they don't hit it off right away. They find themselves spending a lot more time together, they they wanted, and soon sparks start to fly. I love the storyline! It has all of the elements of a great book! Maggie runs a bookshop in a place with strict rules about what she can or can't sell. But rules are made to be broken, and what is better than a secret book club? But tan she discovers a secret.  It's the kind of book you can't put down. And the romance is so good! Danni hopes to have a fresh start when she moves. She needs to get over a guy she loves because he is engaged to her best friend. That didn't last long when they decided to come along and work with her in the same hospital. She needs to figure out what is more important to her, friendship or the growing attraction. I like the storyline and the backdrop of the hospital made it all that more exciting. But for some reason, I just couldn't get into the story. Luna is driving in a snowy wonderland, with a car that wasn't made for mountain driving, to discover who left the generous inheritance, when she runs out of flue close to her destination, she is saved by a knight in shining armour.  I was hooked right from the start and couldn't put it down!
