They have an instant connection, but the baggage they both will keep them apart unless they find a way to overcome it It's a page-turner! I couldn't stop reading from the start till the finish. The story is full of suffering and heartbreak and is told in a very real way. It shows the emotional wreckage such trauma can have on people, especially those who are so young, and the fallout that happens. But not all is so bleak, from a very dark place the Maya and Daniel grew hope as they connected.  The story deals with hard themes, like alcohol abuse, trauma, and survivor guilt, from the perspective of a person in the middle of it. I never read To All The Boys I Loved Before, I must have missed the hype, but one thing is for sure, this author can write. Each sentence flows into another perfectly, the story becomes alive before your eyes and pretty soon you cannot help but fall in love with all of the characters, no matter how flawed they are, and root for the happy ending, that is ever elusive.  I was swayed by the pretty cover and sucked in by the story. It's engaging and so vividly written.  Belly and Steren come to the Cousins Beach House every summer. Their mothers are best friends and they bring their kind together each year. The boys have always been tight, but Belly always fell a bit to the wayside. Until the last few years. Not to mention she has a ginormous crush on the older boy, Conrad. They have been best friends since college. She came to town to work in the lab and she needed a place to stay. He needed a roommate fast. The first time they met, they instantly clicked together and have been best friends and secretly in love with each other since then. He has a very unrealistic view of dating and is always with someone, but it never works out. She gave up on dating altogether. Then he comes up with a crazy idea. They both have to make an effort to date and if they don't find anyone by the time of the Christmas office party, they will get a family together. The change shakes up their relationship at its core. The more they look around the more obvious it becomes that what they are looking at is at their noses. But the path from best friends to HEA is anything but straightforward. They find themselves spending a lot more time together, they they wanted, and soon sparks start to fly. I love the storyline! It has all of the elements of a great book! Maggie runs a bookshop in a place with strict rules about what she can or can't sell. Danni hopes to have a fresh start when she moves. She needs to get over a guy she loves because he is engaged to her best friend. That didn't last long when they decided to come along and work with her in the same hospital. She needs to figure out what is more important to her, friendship or the growing attraction. I like the storyline and the backdrop of the hospital made it all that more exciting. But for some reason, I just couldn't get into the story. Luna is driving in a snowy wonderland, with a car that wasn't made for mountain driving, to discover who left the generous inheritance, when she runs out of flue close to her destination, she is saved by a knight in shining armour.  I was hooked right from the start and couldn't put it down! Such a cute story, it even has a big romantic gesture... :)  Poppy loves romance and all about it. She is a psychologist and works in an elite matchmaking agency. She spends her day finding the perfect person for everyone. But her latest case could be just the toughest.  Tristan has to marry before his 35th birthday if he wants to receive the huge inheritance his grandfather set up for him. The only problem is, firstly there is very little time to get to know anyone, secondly, he would be happy to stay a bachelor forever and third he is not the most likable person. :) Poppy tries very hard to find him a suitable match, but there seems to be one problem after another. One of my favourites this year! I loved reading it! Emma has spent most of her life in a boarding school, that is supposed to be for child psychopaths, but it's actually an undercover CIA training facility. They are supposed to help kids like Emma to become better people, but in reality, they are training them to be assassins. Emma's latest mission takes her back home when she has to go undercover at a local high school and pose as a normal student. She needs to get into Model UN, so she will have access to her target. But something like that is much harder for Emma than anticipated. She never made real friends and her first attempt failed miserably. To get into the club, she convinces the best student, to help her become a better person, while she will help her get a guy she likes. Slowly but surely, Emma changes. She learns how to make actual friends and starts to do good, but the mission should always come first. The story is told from Emma's POV, so you really get into ...
