A normal hardworking girl wakes up one day to find that she doesn't have a heartbeat anymore. She also doesn't remember dying, even though that sounds like something that would stay in one's memory. :) She has a new craving for meat that scares her. All she wants is to be hidden from the world, but slowly she is dragged into a world that is unlike ours. The ghouls, werewolves, and vampires, live in the same world, just underneath the surface. She makes friends, gets tangled in all sorts of stuff, and discovers more about this new world and herself each time. The artwork is beautiful, and I was immediately hooked by the art. The storyline was interesting, but I was a bit lost at times, not knowing what was going on. That all changes when she finds out the truth about the mother. She stops celebrating the holiday and is heartbroken by the truth. That becomes even worse when she meets the spirit of Saint Valentine. She is ready to give her heart away, until one Lunar New Year festival, when she gets a paper heart. She is ready to believe again, but the road to love isn't easy. It's a lovely story about finding your way back to love and dealing with a harsh family trust. The story follows Joana, a young witch, as she navigates her first job and deals with mental health issues. It's a beautifully illustrated story that explores deeper issues in a very relatable way. Ruined is a Regency-era graphic novel. It follows Catherine and Andrew. Catherine has turned away every suitor, but this year after a scandal, her father made arrangements to marry her off to Andrew Davaner. He desperately needs the money and she needs a husband to shut off the rumours.  It was just supposed to be a marriage of convenience, but as they got to know each other, the sparks flew between them.  It's a slow-burn romance, but a good one. This one is a bit different but in a good way. Charlie wants to say I Love You to Nick, but can't seem to find a good moment. Meanwhile, his mental health keeps getting worse, to the point that he needs more help than he can get at home.  Nick is consumed with worry. It's the summertime. Charlie and Nick, along with their friends from their school and the girl's school across the street travel to Paris.  They explore the city together while navigating how to be a couple along the friend group. Charlie and Nick continue to fall deeper and deeper in love in the second book of the Heartstopper series. The book is cuteness overload.  Charlie has known that he is gay for a long time, but for Nick, all of this is very new. He is not ready to tell anyone just yet, so they keep their relationship a secret. At least for a while.  But they are not as subtle as they seem. :) The story is adorable and relatable and it just makes you want to read more. Charlie is an openly gay student in year 10 at Truham Grammar School for Boys. Since coming out the year before, he faced a lot of bullying, but it has gotten better since then. Now he is seated next to Nick, who is a year 11. Nick is on a school rugby team. He heard about Charlie, but they never talked. They start talking each time they have class together and never really stop. They get closer when Charlie joins the rugby team. They soon became good friends, always hanging out even after school, and Charlie finds himself falling from Nick. But Nick is straight. Only lately he catches him looking and he seems to always find a way to touch him. It's the cutest, most wholesome start of a romance. I loved reading every page of it!
