Rekindling the Flame by Madison Myers (Smoky Heights #1)

Image
She is very set on ever going back to her hometown again, but when she finds out that her mom has very little time to live, she leaves everything and goes back home. Plagued with guilt of leaving everyone and everything, she struggles to fit back in.  Right on her first night back, she runs into a person she desperately hoped to avoid, her first love and the guy she hurt the most.  The spark between them is very much alive, and the more time they spend together, the more it grows.  It's a very touching story of second chances and forgiveness, but I had the hardest time getting into it. rating ❤❤❤ cover ❤❤❤❤ Goodreads  ||  Amazon happy reading, anie

Fundamentals in Flirting by Lucy Chalice

Image
This book is seriously the cutest! Hannah is not a people person. She also has trouble with having low self-esteem. But when she walks in on her boyfriend, she finds a bit of her inner strength and drops him on the spot. Since he was also her mentor, she lost her spot as a researcher and her relationship all in one go. Since then she has moved on, and back home, and works as a veterinarian in a small clinic. There is where her lack of people skills comes to bite her in the ass. :) After running into her old classmate and a crush, she decides to make him help her. They have a scorching hot chemistry from the get-go, but their issues are keeping them apart. The story can be a bit frustrating at parts because you just want them to be happy, but the ending makes up for it. :) It's cute and full of swoon-worthy moments. It's a slow-burn, sunshine/grump romance set in a small town, that you can't help but love. :) rating ❤❤❤❤❤ cover ❤❤❤❤ Goodreads  ||  Amazon happy reading, anie

Bridesmaid to Bride by Terra Weiss

Image
Her twin found her happily ever after on a reality TV show. It is the wedding special and the whole family has to be there. Eva is not only her sister but also a wedding planner.  She is not looking forward to this wedding. For one thing West will be there, her best friend. He was also on the show and kissed her sister, and also, she has a huge crush on him. But they never got together, Eva is too scared to ruin their friendship.  The high-stakes wedding, where everything seems to go wrong is a perfect setting for them to take that next step. But life keeps getting in the way. It's swoony, and steamy and keeps you on your toes. And the villain in the end was totally unexpected, did not see that coming at all. :) It's the kind of book that sucks you right in. I loved the first third of the story and the ending, but in the middle, I got kind of sick of all the twists and turns and was just looking for the HAE. rating ❤❤❤ cover ❤❤❤❤❤ Goodreads Amazon happy reading, anie

Written in the Stars by Helen Rolfe

I love to read romance books set in the Christmas time. It's the most magical time of the year, after all. :) But this one didn't hit the spot. It's not that something is wrong with the book, I just couldn't get into it. A case of it's not you, it's me, book edition. :) It has a lot going for it, friends to lovers, small-town romance, dual POV, sweet romance, and Christmas-time setting, of course. Bess and Glo have been friends for a long time. They both a very stressful jobs and on top of that their personal lives are not peach either. The romance slowly developed, as their friendship deepened. It's part of the series, but you can read it as a stand-alone, too. Lovely story, just not for me. rating ❤❤❤ cover ❤❤❤❤❤ Goodreads Amazon happy reading, anie

Wish Upon A Streaming Star by Krissi Dallas [BookTour & Giveaway]

Image
You know that feeling when you read a great book and someone asks you what it is about, but nothing comes to mind, except it's sooo good, you have to read it ? Wish Upon a Streaming Star is that kind of a book. It's hilarious with seriously witty bickering, romantic (that Dirty Dancing lift... omg), but also manages to pull at every one of your heartstrings- there is one scene where I cried my eyes out along with the characters. Caz and Dizzy are next-door neighbors. They have been best friends since forever, until the start of the Senior year, when something happened and they have been avoiding each other ever since. Caz is a very famous YouTuber. He started his video as a way to deal with the grief of losing a father, and it ballooned into something big, but it also changed everything, and not all in a good way. Dizzy is trying to keep her life together. The family business is failing and her mother's cancer, it's a lot to put on one girl's shoulder. She has spent...

This is Not a Holiday Romance by Camilla Isley

Image
rating ❤❤❤ ❤ ❤ cover ❤ ❤ ❤ He is her brother's best friend and her biggest enemy. He insulted her when they first met and it has just gone downhill from there. Each encounter is filled with insults and pranks that get worse each time. It all escalated when he came to a Christmas holiday with her brother. There is mad tension between them, shifting from hate to attraction. The romance is fast, and steamy. There is mad tension between them and sparks just fly. Once I started reading it, I couldn't stop, it's so addicting! It's light, fun, and full of chemistry and pranks. :) Goodreads  //  Amazon happy reading, anie

Kiss and Make Love by Luna Day

Image
rating ❤❤❤ ❤ cover ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤ Kiss and Make Love is a collection of ten short stories, that all varied in length and amount of spice.  The first one and the last one are connected, in a way, the rest can stand on their own. The first one happens after a one-night stand, when she wants to leave, like many times before, but something makes her stay, and the last one is a similar situation, but many years after. This was my favorite part of the book. It didn't go where I thought it would and ended up being so romantic... How one little choice can change the entire course of your life...  Two stories I especially loved, were the one with speed dating-it was seriously the cutest, and the one with football players from the opposing teams, with incredible chemistry. It was sizzling! Each story is very different, in genre, tropes, and spice. At times the writing could use a bit more work, especially in developing the romance. But regardless of that, I read the whole collection in one go,...

SubZero Vol. 1 by Junepurrr

rating ❤❤❤ cover ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤ artwork ❤ ❤ ❤ The war between two dragon clans is neverending. Clove needs to do what is best for her people. As the last remaining heir of her clan, she agrees to a political marriage to the heir of the enemy clan. There is no love between them at first, but discovering a secret makes them form an unlikely alliance.  The relationship between them is compilated enough, only adding to it are people working tirelessly to destroy the fragile peace between the kingdom and continue the war.  I love the art style, it is seriously beautiful, but I didn't like the story so much. Malice by Heather Walter

Image
rating ❤❤❤❤ ❤ cover ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤ In a country obsessed with beauty, Graces are highly valued. Blessed with a light Fae's magic, after the war, they can make elixirs with a drop of their blood, until the magic runs out. Alyce is considered a Dark Grace. She is a part Vila, a creature that is regarded as evil in Briar. She isn't strong enough to be killed, but strong enough to make potions.  When she runs into a person trapped in a tower, she uncovers her true heritage and the depths of her power.  Vila put a curse on the princesses of the Briar. If they don't kiss their true love by their 21st birthday, they die.  But Aurora is not like other royals, she is determined and eager to change the country's rule and most importantly, she doesn't think that Alyce is the villain and honestly likes her. It's a loose retelling of the Sleeping Beauty fairytale, but here the not-really-evil witch descendant falls for the princess. It reads like a classic ya romance, but with a ...

The Duke and I by Julia Quinn (Bridgertons #1)

Image
rating ❤ ❤ ❤❤❤ cover ❤❤❤❤❤ The summer can only really start with the Bridgertons re-read. I don't know what it is about these books that make them so addicting. They are by no means perfect, there are a lot of elements that usually turn me off from reading, but in these, I just can't help myself. :) It's one of those series, that once you start reading, you must read 'em all.  The Duke and I follows the story of Daphne, the eldest daughter of the Brigerton family, as she navigates her second season, still single, still without love, and Simon, a new Duke who returned to London after years traveling the world.  She wants nothing more than to find love and have a big family, just like the one she is from, and he is determined to let the family name die with him, just to spite his horrible father. They form an alliance, to pretend to be courting, so she will get more offers and he will be left alone. But something is brewing between them. One night of indiscretion and it...

rating ❤❤❤ cover ❤❤❤❤❤ Mac came to the beach town to start college. She is older than most freshmen because she took a gap year. It took a lot of convincing to get her parents on board, but part of the deal was to go to the college here. She used that year to build up her business. Now she is in the same school as her long-time boyfriend, for the first time in a long time. And she is getting bored. Mackenzie always does what she is supposed to. She dates the right guy and behaves the right way, but that isn't here. She is full of spark, that she constantly squashes down. Cooper lost one of his jobs, because of her jerk boyfriend, so he and his friends make a plan. He will seduce her and get back at him that way. But in the process of getting her, he falls for her. You've Got Chain Mail by Sam Parks

Image
❤❤❤❤ Morgan has been feeling lonely. Since her best friend moved away and isn't really answering her calls and texts, she is on her own a lot. She wants to be more adventurous but doesn't really know how to do that.  She started going on weekly D&D games with a group of people who are quickly becoming her friends. They even agree to go to the Renaissance Fair in the States together. Jack's life is very carefully planned out. There is no room for romance or change. After his bad breakup, he gave up on that and kind of dedicated his life to just staying as it is. As he takes Morgan out on their little adventures, they get closer and closer, but he is nowhere near that and the change she is about to bring into his life. He makes her more adventurous and she forces him to face his emotions-a perfect match... They make each other better, but they both come with baggage that threatens to keep them apart. Is such a sweet story, of letting go, of taking a chance and letting you...

The Mass by Natalie Blank

Image
Daniel is the only survivor of the mass shooting, in which the entirety of his football team died. The only reason he survived is because he was home sick. Now he doesn't feel much of anything, only numbness. He joins online the support group and meets Maya.  Maya lost her career due to a shot in the leg and has kind gave up on life since then. They have an instant connection, but the baggage they both will keep them apart unless they find a way to overcome it It's a page-turner! I couldn't stop reading from the start till the finish. The story is full of suffering and heartbreak and is told in a very real way. It shows the emotional wreckage such trauma can have on people, especially those who are so young, and the fallout that happens. But not all is so bleak, from a very dark place the Maya and Daniel grew hope as they connected.  The story deals with hard themes, like alcohol abuse, trauma, and survivor guilt, from the perspective of a person in the middle of it. We see...

Slap Shot by Kat Mizera (Lauderdale Knights #1)

Image
Love a good sports romance, but this one didn't hit the spot. She is from a big Italian family and her family is pressuring her into all sorts of things she doesn't want, from other careers to relationships. When she wakes up getting hit with a hockey put and has temporary amnesia, it kind of feels like a fresh start. Not to mention that the hot hockey player who hit her is there to console her. She starts to stand up to her family, break up with her fiance, and start o date a hockey player, but is met with resistance left and right. Vaughn is starting fresh in Florida. As a single hockey player, he is all about sleeping around until he meets the girl she hit with a puck. She is in a relationship and her life seems to be beyond complicated, but he can't stay away. Something is brewing between them, but they both have baggage from the past, that could stand to push them apart. I like the storyline but didn't like the characters, I didn't feel that much spark between ...

Well Met by Jen Deluca (Well Met #1)

Image
Emily came to the small town to help her sister who was in a car accident and her daughter. It gave her time to recover from a bad breakup. She gave up college and worked full time to support her bf, while he finished up law school. Now that it was supposed to be her turn, he dumped her. Her self-confidence is broken and she is happy to be somewhere to lick her wound. It's also nice to get close to her sister and niece. Because they have quite an age gap they never really got that close. There is a Renaissance fair in town, called Faire, which is a town tradition and kind of big deal. Her niece wants to sign up but needs an adult volunteer, so Emily gets roped into doing it. There is a hot pirate she flirts with, but the guy wearing the costume and she doesn't get along all that well. They seem to start out on the wrong foot and always argue, but when they get in a costume, there is none of that and a whole lot of flirting going on. They started out as enemies but ended up as l...

The Summer I Turned Pretty by Jenni Han (Summer #1)

Image
I never read To All The Boys I Loved Before, I must have missed the hype, but one thing is for sure, this author can write. Each sentence flows into another perfectly, the story becomes alive before your eyes and pretty soon you cannot help but fall in love with all of the characters, no matter how flawed they are, and root for the happy ending, that is ever elusive.  I was swayed by the pretty cover and sucked in by the story. It's engaging and so vividly written.  Belly and Steren come to the Cousins Beach House every summer. Their mothers are best friends and they bring their kind together each year. The boys have always been tight, but Belly always fell a bit to the wayside. Until the last few years. Not to mention she has a ginormous crush on the older boy, Conrad. This was the first summer the boys noticed her. She spends her days with the boy next door and dreams about the one she can't have.  The atmosphere is a bit different in the house than in previous years. T...

Not sure if she did the right thing, she booked the holiday to get away from it all. Clara and Henry met when they were still in university. She was a grad student and he was the guy everyone swoone over, but Clara.  Years later they lost touch, but Clara still thinks of him often. Then after a presentation from hell, there is Henry to the rescue. It turns out that they will be working together again, and they become close again.
