The Inheritance Games by Jennifer Lynn Barnes
Avery is basically living on the streets. Her sister is back with her ex, who is a horrible person and she has no one else to turn to. She wants to finish school, get a scholarship, and escape it all. But then she receives the news of a lifetime. A billionaire died and left her a fortune.
She and her sister quickly move all the way across the country, to her new house, which isn't empty. And the old inhabitants are exactly happy to see her there. Turns out that there were a lot of people hoping to get part of his fortune, but instead got peanuts, or nothing at all.
The thing is, though, there are conditions to her receiving the money and most importantly she needs to survive a year in the house, with people who she can't trust.
But the boys are growing on her, and the mystery that they are trying to solve is sucking her in and soon she is fully emersed in the life of the house, but she will never be one of them.
Is the kind of book that keeps you guessing, until the end, and the ending just left me with more questions. :)
It's a page-turning, nail-biting story, that you can't put down. Can't wait to read the next one. :)
