Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo

Kaz has a new job in line for a whole lot of money. He just has to break into Ice Court (that has never been breached), retrieve a hostage, and come back. No biggy. :) Next, he needs a crew, each with something unique to contribute, each with a past. I love the writing style, it's very unique and it took me a minute to get into it. I fell in love with the characters, the story, the world.  It's one of my all-time favorite books. I also just started watching the Netflix series and want to read both series again. :) rating 💜💜💜 💜 💜 cover 💙💙 💙 💙 💙 series Six of Crows #1 published July 12th, 2016 by Orion Childrens Books genre ya, fantasy, magic number of pages 495 Amazon || Goodreads happy reading, anie Follow @anie_1027 Anie

Adam by Shari Sakurai

Image
The superhero story is as good as is the villain. If the hero falls in love with the bad guy, it's even better. :)  Adam is one of those good ones. A villain that you have to love. :) Since he was my favorite in the Perfect World, I was very excited to dive into the story. It's a good one, but I was expecting more. Finding out that he was genetically engineers to take over his father's business, fills him with bitterness and sets him on the path of revenge. In Adam, we dive deep into what made him who he is now and why he does what he does.  rating 💜💜💜 cover 💙💙💙 received from author series Perfect World #2 published May 28th, 2018 by Farnhurst Publishing genre sci-fi, superhero Amazon || Goodreads happy reading, anie Follow @anie_1027 Anie

New Era by Shari Sakurai

I love a good superhero story, especially if there is a good villain. :)  Eric is a genetically modified superhero, who works for Government in new London. When his last mission went bad, he fell in love with Adam, the evil genius, who is not all that bad. And the end of book one Adam sacrifices himself. Eric is grieving the loss of the man he loved. And I was so happy when he came back. :)  The story is intense, so many twists and turn, that kept my head swimming. :) The pace is fast and the writing is very good.  rating 💜💜💜💜 cover 💙💙💙 received from author series Perfect World #2 published May 28th, 2018 by Farnhurst Publishing genre sci-fi, superhero Amazon || Goodreads happy reading, anie Follow @anie_1027 Anie

The Rising Tide by J. Scott Coatsworth

Image
The Rising Tide is the second book in the Liminal Sky series. Earth is dead and now all of the living are riding on Forever. Forever alive and ever-evolving generation ship, that holds many secrets lurking below. It's a hardcore sci-fi book, with lots of very cool elements. there is a spaceship for all humankind, it gets supplies from asteroids, and it's run by a form of ship-mind.  I love the storyline, the writing, and all the techy stuff, but for some reason, I had a hard time getting into it.  rating 💜💜💜 cover 💙💙 💙 💙 received from author series Liminal Sky: The Ariadne Cycle #2 published October 16th, 2018 by Dreamspinner Press genre sci-fi number of pages 388 Amazon || Goodreads happy reading, anie Follow @anie_1027 Anie

The Half-Orphan's Handbook by Joan F. Smith || Excerpt

Image
Synopsys For fans of John Green and Emily X.R. Pan,  The Half-Orphan’s Handbook  by Joan F. Smith is a coming-of-age story and an empathetic, authentic exploration of grief with a sharp sense of humor and a big heart. It’s been three months since Lila lost her father to suicide. Since then, she’s learned to protect herself from pain by following two unbreakable rules: 1. The only people who can truly hurt you are the ones you love. Therefore, love no one. 2. Stay away from liars. Liars are the worst. But when Lila’s mother sends her to a summer-long grief camp, it’s suddenly harder for Lila to follow these rules. Potential new friends and an unexpected crush threaten to drag her back into life for the first time since her dad’s death. On top of everything, there’s more about what happened that Lila doesn’t know, and facing the truth about her family will be the hardest part of learning how a broken heart can love again. Dead Meat: Day 7 by Nick Clausen

I think this is the longest series I am keeping up with. :) ( I don't usually keep up with the long series & I don't like zombies all that much. Dead Meat seres is proving me wrong on both counts. :) ). And the most mindblowing part? It's getting better. :)  Dan, William, and Otis are on their way back. There is a slim chance that they might stop this horror, and they are going with it. On the way, there are a lot of zombies, a few new people, not all who make it through. :)  Iver is on the run with supplies when he gets stuck in the attic with a boatload of zombies around. He gets saved, but he is not sure to trust new people.  There was a lot of Dan in the story, (which I loved - he is my favorite.. and I really hope he doesn't die :), with a few other groups sprinkle in between... I'm looking forward to how it will all come together. :) The story is fast paces, I had to read it in one swoop... I just had to know what happens. The intensity is at the top, the

Ozma by Candace Robinson, Amber R. Duell

Imagine being stolen as a baby, having your whole identity stripped, magic drained, and forced to work for the horrible witch, then finally breaking a curse, only to be put by the wizard to the Dark Lands, another horrible place filled with danger and monsters. And when you finally free, you have not only come to terms with your identity, try to get your lover back, but somehow take over the Oz. :) I just want to give Ozma a hug. :) Life just keeps throwing roadblock her way. However, she just keeps going on, with a lot of grace and strength. Jack was also stolen as a child and forced to work for Mombi. In the long days, they spend together, they grew close and fall in love. When Ozma is thrown into the Dark Lands, he is lead to believe that she dies. Only... he knew her as a guy and she is terrified that he will not love her as Ozma. When Ozma finds him, she doesn't tell him right away who she is. Together they set on a journey to kill the witch and the wizard and find out the tru

Langdon runs a bookstore and is a private detective.  He is hired to investigate the blackmailing of a senator, someone has pictures of her affair. There have been three brutal murders and police have the wrong guy and a woman hires him to find her missing sister. Suddenly his hands a full and he might be way over his head. The more he digs the more it gets all very comlicated. When I read the book, I felt like watching one of those action detective movies from the 90s. :) (I love those:)) While I thoroughly enjoyed the story, I did have a bit of a harder time getting into it, especially in the first few chapters. rating 💜💜💜 💜 cover 💙💙 received from author series Mainly Mystery #3 published March 18th, 2021 by Encircle Publication genre mystery number of pages 296 Amazon || Goodreads happy reading, anie Follow @anie_1027 Anie

Wow, this story... is one hell of a ride. :)  Beatrix was always different, the books in her home library speak to her, guide her, but that is not the only thing. She has this beast inside, furie, that is destructive, if not kept hidden. Her grandfather put spells on her to protect her.  Soon after his death, the spells and ward break lose. She is taken to the magical place of Zweeshen, where characters live. And her magical adventure begins. It's the uniquest, most magical story, I've read this year. Right from the start, the story pulls you in and even though there were times, where I was like, was just happen, I could peel my eyes from it. Masterfully crafted mystery with o many twists and turn to make you dizzy, unique fantastic adventure into the world, I would love to live in... :) Highly recommend to anyone who loves book and characters like real people. :) rating 💜💜💜 💜 💜 cover 💙💙 💙 💙 💙 giveaway a Rafflecopter giveaway received from Xpresso Book Tours series Ac

I love spring. There is something magical about watching the world around me wake up. The flowers are starting to bloom, the trees are getting greener, the air is light and the sun is shining.  I've read 12 books last month. I had days where I would just read and then came days when I would totally ignore books.  It was also the month to binge-read a series, that was long overdue: Relentless , I've finally read the rest of the book in the series, usually, I read just the original three. Unfortunately, I was very disappointed, I count even finish the last one. Don't get me wrong, first three ( Relentless , Refuge , and Rogue ) are one of my all-time favorite books, but the rest, I really, really didn't like. From now on, I'll just read 1-3 and ignore the rest. :) I've read Dare , it's the third book in Pixieland diaries . I've really enjoyed the adventure of Calla and Dare, but a tiny bit disappointed because Dare didn't shire so bright. One of my f

It's been a year of unique read, but this might trump them all. :) I don't think I've ever read cyberpunk before, well at least not a story like this one before, and I thoroughly enjoyed it.  The writing is very good. The world created and the storyline and both very interesting and kept me turning the pages (scrolling actually, but that doesn't sound good. :)). I was immersed in the story from the start and couldn't put it down.  In the dystopian future, what was once the United States, there are now seven parts, each run by a different corporation. Aidan is set to the outpost, which is having a lot of issues and it is his job to pull them together and make them a team again. Each member of the team, including Aidan, has their own issues and secrets, I love all the little techy stuff in between. :)  Even though the story is a dystopia, set way into the future, it was somehow scary realistic. What I missed the most was a back story, how did it all come to this point

Storm's Gate by J. W. Golan

I was very excited to return back to the world, but in the end, was a little bit disappointed. Maybe my expectation was a bit too high. The author created an intriguing world, filled with magic, magical creatures, and all thing that make the fantasy book awesome. Lynette, Baxter, and Eirlon set out again, to find a healer, in a desperate hope to stop the larger war. It's a lovely continuation of the story, but it wasn't as good as the first one (that one is by far my favorite). I had a hard time connecting to the characters and care about them. The world created and the storytelling are awesome and show great potential, the story just might need a bit of polishing, to tighten up the storyline. ratin g 💜💜💜 cover 💙💙 💙 received from author series Stormfall Chronicles #3 published November 19th, 2020 genre high fantasy Amazon || Goodreads happy reading, anie Follow @anie_1027 Anie

Mia returns back to England to open a florist shop, at the same time escaping her horrible ex. But starting your life anew is never easy, especially when she keeps running into Luke. Luke felt like he had no choice, and left for the army. When he came back he took over his uncle's business.  The old sparks fly, but there seems to be too much baggage for anything else, then just a physical relationship. But more time they spend together, those lines start to blur.  It's a lovely second chance romance. However Mia was not my favorite, I didn't like her enough to care for her.  rating 💜💜💜 cover 💙💙 received from Netgalley series Forgiven #1 published January 25th, 2021 by Carina Press genre contemporary, romance number of pages 215 Amazon || Goodreads happy reading, anie Follow @anie_1027 Anie

Black Water Magic by Leslie Scott

I didn't like the story at the start, but something made me keep turning pages and by the end, I was on the edge of my seat. :)  Teagan is living with her grandmother Nola, the swamp witch, is more worried about hiding her boyfriends, demi-demon from her. One night she comes home, only the find Nola dead in the backyard. As her successor, her world gets a whole lot more complicated than hidden boyfriends, who everyone seems to know about.  She has to find out who did it and resolve the curse, not everyone is happy about sharing the info with her until she proves herself.  It's a page-turner, with a slow start. I love the storyline, even though it was all over the place at times. :) And Teagan, she is strong, yet vulnerable... someone you can't help but like. And with every secret she uncovers, there seems to be a whole bunch of new ones spilling out. I can't wait to see what happens next for her. :) rating 💜💜💜 💜 cover 💙💙 💙 received from Xpresso Book Tours series
