Reading Diary: What I Want to Read Next

Last year I started like bazillion series and not finished ANY *facepalm*. This year I'm doing a lot better. :) Not sure if it has to do with the books I'm reading or just different mindset. (I'm worked a lot on falling in love with reading again...). I really, really, really want to finish Shades of Magic series. I'm currently on book #2 and loving it so much. The start was a bit slow and I thought I'm not going to like, but after like 50 pages I was totally in. :) However, I can't speed read it. It special and I'm savoring every page. :)  The Raven cycle  is one those all-time favorite series, where I read and lover the first book, but never continued on... And the end of the last year I got the entire series as a gift and I'm currently starting to read book #3 Blue Lily, Lily Blue . The series is just getting better with each book. 😍 I loved The Dream Thieves, there was a lot about Ronan and I looove Ronan, there is something about him...💚

Guest Post by Kimberly Johnson

Governor Sarah Palin, Book Reviewing, and Becoming an Author I started my first blog about fifteen years ago and I wrote about whatever interested me, which included books.   To my great surprise, the authors showed up and started commenting and thanking me.   So, I started trying to do more reviews because I was also learning a lot from them.   This was before Facebook and Twitter became all the rage.   We got a lot more traffic in the blogosphere.   People hopped and commented more.   Now, a blog needs to be very focused and people save their chattiness for faster social media sites, it seems. Interestingly, I got a huge, unintentional boost in visitors from Sarah Palin, former governor of my home state of Alaska when she was named John McCain’s running mate in the 2008 presidential election.   First, I spewed coffee all over my computer screen on hearing the news.   Of course, I posted about it, ‘cause, hey, I was an Alaskan!   Then, I watched as thousands of new vis

Bowens Title Adventures in Amarant: Short Story Collection Vol 1 Genre high-fantasy, magic Number of pages 64 Published February 8th, 2019 Amazon Goodreads Received from Author I used to dislike short stories, like a lot.:) But lately, I really started to appreciate & love'em. Blaize and the Maven by Ellen M. Bard

Image
Title Blaize and the Maven Author Ellen M. Bard Genre fantasy Published October 2015 Number of pages 304 Goodreads Amazon Rating 💚💚💚 Cover 💛💛💛 Received from Author The story starts with Blaize awaiting her Chakra Trial, Manipura. After she passes, she is sent to train with Maven her second energy.  I like the magical system - chakra energy used and the way they use it. It's something I haven't read about yet, very unique and interesting.  I like the premise of the story and the plotline. My least favorite part was the start. Sometimes I like it when books start in the middle of the action, but sometimes, like in this case, it threw me off a bit. I had trouble connecting and caring for Blaize. However, the story gets lots better as the chapters move on. And I ended up liking it. :)  Happy reading, Anie @anie_1027

Quests and Quandaries by Alda Yuan

Image
Author Alda Yuan Title  Quests and Quandaries Series The Floating Isles #1 Genre high-fantasy Published December 2018   Goodreads Amazon Received from Author It's one of those books, that is pure bliss to read. Quests and Quandaries is set in a fantasy world and we follow a very special princess. She never goes through the royal event without causing trouble, she is stubborn, strong-willed, very independent and one of my favorite characters. :) She doesn't do anything is supposed to do. Her parents force her to go on a quest to The Floating Isles, to retrieve an item, the same kind of quest her father had to partake, and even curse her to force her to go. Rahni reluctantly agrees- she has no choice. It's the start of a wonderful adventure, where nothing is what it seems. :) The book is full of action, adventure and LOL moments. :) I love the characters in the story, especially the princess, she has spunk. :) Highly recommend it! Happy reading, Anie @
