Bridge of Souls by Victoria Schwab

Image
series Cassidy Blake #3 number of pages 304 published March 2nd 2021 by Scholastic Press genre ya, paranormal, ghosts, urban fantasy rating 💙💙💙💙💙 cover 💙💙💙💙💙 Cass's parents are off to another city. Next on the list is New Orleans. The city is filled with ghosts and all kinds of magic. Even the secret society, her friend (the living kind) wants to be a part of has an office here.  Cassidy faced the biggest threat ever, Death itself. With the new threat, we dive deep into Cass' abilities and what does it really mean to escape death. Jacob does his best to keep her out of danger, but Cassidy is like a magnet for any kind of trouble.  I like that the story focuses on friendships of all kinds of variety and that it's a bit darker in tone than the previous ones. And while I really like it, I didn't love as much previous two ( City of Ghosts , Tunnel of Bones ) I hope to one day visit all of these towns and follow her path. :) Goodreads || Amazon happy reading, anie

The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue by V. E. Schwab

Image
number of pages 444 published October 6th 2020 by Tor Books genre fantasy rating 💚💚💚💚💚 cover 💛💛💛💛💛 Addie was born a long time ago in a small village in France. At a quite different time. She was supposed to be married, but the night before she pray for a way out to a wrong god.  She gets what she wished for. She is free, but no one can remember her. She wanders around the world, through time appearing as a muse for countless artists and in constant fragmented dynamic with the god who granted her wish, Luc.  At present time, in New York, Addie falls in love again. But this time the guy, Henry remembered her. I just adore the book, the concept is unique and I love the fact that it does have a classic happy ending, but one that fits perfectly to a story. I adore Luc, and Addie, I love their dynamic. However, I could do without all Henry’s parts. :) Luc is so vicious, evil, and lonely at the same time and Addie is trying so hard to be normal, to live freely, but somehow can’t do

series ClickandWed.com #1 number of pages 275 published January 22, 2017 genre contemporary, romance, adult rating 💙 💙 💙 cover 💙 💙 💙 💙 Rachel divorced her horrible husband, but still lives where everyone, including her parents, is on his side. One drunken night she clicks on Clickandwed.com. The side comes up with two potential husbands and she has to pick one and then move in with him. Logan runs the ranch after his parent's death and tries to keep up.  At first, it's hard to mesh their lives and they live separately but together. He is out working (I would love to see more of what he is actually working on, how does the property look like) and she is inside. There is a spark between them, but they talk so little it's a bit hard to see it develop.  I love the idea but wished the characters were more developed and that there was a lot more dialogue. Girl, Serpent, Thorn by Melissa Bashardoust

Image
number of pages 336 published July 7th 2020 by Flatiron Books genre ya, fantasy, romance rating 💙💙💙 💙 💙 cover 💙💙💙💙 💙 Girl, Serpent, Thorn reminded me how much I love ya fantasy.  It's been a while since I've read any book in this genre and I forgot how good it could be. In a kingdom far away, there was a princess that was poisonous to touch. :)  Her family moved palace's with each season, but Soraya was always left behind, hidden from the world, because of her curse. When her mother was young, she saved a young woman from a div trap (a child of Destroyer). The woman told her that the one who set it would come back, but she did it anyway. And when he returned he cursed her. That curse was the one that made her poisonous to touch.  In the palace where she lived, there were many secret tunnels, in which she wandered around, but she was always lonely. And when she meet someone, who made her doubt it all, she took a chance, a chance that will change everything. It'

Her Inconvenient Christmas Reunion by Nina Singh

Image
number of pages 256 published November 10th 2020 by Harlequin Romance Larger Print genre contemporary, romance, adult, Christmas rating 💙 💙 💙 cover 💙 💙 Izzy and Zayn use to be a couple. After breaking up they both went their separate ways. Izzy helped run the vineyard and Zayn is a very successful businessman. After his aunt died, she left the place for both of them. She wants to keep it as is and he want to change a lot. Finding a common language is a bit hard, especially when sparks fly between them. It Started with a Winter Kiss by Tina Beckett

Image
number of pages 151 published November 1st 2020 by Harlequin genre romance, contemporary, adult rating 💚💚💚 cover 💛💛 I wanted to love the book, it seems just like the kind of book I love to read, it has all the right ingredients: romance, Christmas, second chances, but I had the hardest time getting into it. I liked the storyline but the dialogues were a bit awkward and couldn't stand the main character. Maura and dexter were high school sweethearts. She was sure they will end up together. Family tragedy struck Dexter and he slipped away. He lost most of his family in an accident and he couldn't care about anything else after, even Maura. Years late they are both doctors, working in the same hospital and their paths cross again. The spark is still there, and it would be the easiest thing to fall back in.  Goodreads || Amazon happy reading, anie

Spite Club by Julie Kriss

Image
series Mason Brothers #1 number of pages 190 published June 5th 2017 by Five Doors Creative genre romance, contemporary, adult, steamy rating 💚💚💚💚 cover 💛💛💛 I haven’t expected to like and have so much fun while reading the book, as I did. It’s funny, it’s sexy and it’s full of surprises. Evie gets a phone call that her boyfriend is cheating on her. When she gets there, she finds him with another girl and the mysterious caller, who is actually the other boyfriend. He thought it was only fair that he calls her too. :)  Evie is crushed. She spends most of her adult life trying to be the good girl, to fix the mistakes of her adolescence. She gets a sensible job, a steady boyfriend and had a plan.  That all comes crumbling down. The only bright spot is knowing Nick.  They pretend to date, to piss off her ex-boyfriend, but the more time they spend together, the less fake it feels until it’s too late. He is nothing but trouble, the ultimate bad boy. He brings out the parts of her that

Charm School After Dark by Lynn Garcia Carmer

Image
series Charm School #1 number of pages 314 published January 2021 genre contemporary, romance, adult, extra spicy rating 💙💙💙 💙 cover 💙💙💙💙 Caelen Calvo and her three sisters (the are quadruplets) have inhered charm school. The same school where they found refuge when they were younger. The only problem is not many young people are interested in etiquette lessons. The former headmistress has come up with a plan, that could save them. Quads have no choice but to follow it. The idea was to teach adult classes.  Caelen classes will have to focus on Oral Instructions. :) To prepare for class, she needs someone to... practice on. :)  Dare has always been in love with her, but he also always torture her, so he is a perfect choice.  The prep is fun, but it doesn't take much to open gates to what it could have been. It's a very spicy book, and so so funny. :)  Goodreads || Amazon happy reading, anie

favourite love stories for the most romantic month of the year

Image
Never before have I read as much romance, as in the past 12 months. I blame Bridgerton (and tik tok). :) It got me hooked with romance as nothing before. My summer was all about the London season in the Regency era, my fall was all about Christmas romances and winter it's all about cute contemporary romance stories. :) For the most romantic month of the year I made a list of my favourite love stories, the kind I've read recently and the kind I've read a while, but still think about. Here they are young adult & contemporary This Is For Tonight by Jessica Patrick Andy needs money for college (she wants to go to the same school as her twin). She has a crafting youtube channel, but it doesn't bring enough money, so she and her brother go to the music festival. There is a scavenger hunt and the winner gets to interview the band. That would bring a lot of traffic to her channel. But in the same competition is the guy she absolutely hates. :) Avocado Bliss by Candace Robin

Reading Diary #5/22

Image
Thursday I've read so many books, so many awesome books, in December, that it put me in a slump for most of January. I took it slow, didn't force myself to read. That is making sure way to make yourself hate reading-been there, done that. As January turned to February, I got the itch again. To read. All of the books. :) I have so many books on Netgalley, that I decided to start there. First, one that caught my eye was With Love From Rose Bend by Naima Simone . It's the third one in the series and I enjoyed reading the first two, so I gave it a go. It's sweet, feel-good, small-town romance, perfect to get back into reading and just makes me feel good and hopeful and all mushy. :) Friday I have this bad habit of starting a book, reading a few pages and then forgetting about it for a long time. Today I wanted to finish a few of those books that were all in various stages of being read. First was Model Behaviour by Tricia Lynne . It was OK. Those are the books I dislike re
