Frost Mate by Elle Beaumont and Candace Robinson

Image
received from author series Demons of Frosteria #0.5 number of pages 120 published December 22th, 2021 genre dark romance, fantasy, demons, paranormal rating 💜💜💜💜 cover 💙💙💙 Demon King created the Krampi out of one drop of his blood. They were made to protect against changelings. Koreth trains the army, he wants to kill as many changelings as he can. When the new recruits arrive, he comes across Zira. She is as ruthless as he and full of vengeance. Changelings killed her family. He is instantly attracted to her. And the attraction is mutual. The sparks fly, but they have a mission to do. The story is set in Frosteria, the home of Krampi and the mortal world. I love the take on Krampus mythology and the setting, it's very well done and it brings the story the life. The monster romance genre is fast becoming one of my favorite. :) It's the kind of book you breeze through, cause you can't put it down. Christmas in Rose Bend by Naima Simone

received from Netgalley number of pages 416 published October 26th, 2021 by HQN Books genre romance, contemporary, adult, Christmas rating 💜💜💜💜💜 cover 💙💙💙💙 A few weeks before Halloween I got sucked into Christmas romance books, I've read them obsessively and exclusively for a few weeks. To be honest, the obsession hasn't gone away yet, I just ran out of Christmas books. :) (And a pile, physical and virtual of books that sadly doesn't have anything to do with Christmas. :)) My TBR does look so bad, but my reviews are very, very late. So it's a few days before Christmas, that I write about Christmas in Rose Bend. Of all the book Holiday books I've read this fall, this is probably my favorite. :) On her death bed, Nessa's mother admitted that the man Nessa thought of as her father, is not her biological father. Now with both parents dead, she is left with her half-sister Ivy. She doesn't tell Ivy the truth, that they are not biologically related, becau

Her uncle who was her biggest supporter got her the job. She doesn't feel like it is nepotism, cause she is very good at what she does, but still wants to prove herself. Her uncle warns her about Marcus.  Marcus is one of two bosses, the one that doesn't particularly like anyone, that is not directly on his team, especially her. He appears antisocial and doesn't back down from anything. He goes for what he wants and thinks Ally is set there as the spy.  He is proven right when her uncle asks her to report if she sees something. However, when things don't add up, Ally goes to Marcus instead of her uncle. And the more time they spend together going over numbers, she sees different sid

Amar has traveled for years, trying to find answers for what is going on with him. Every time he dies, he comes back to life, but without any memories of what happened before that moment. He, his companions are the closest to the answers as they ever were.  But they are being pursued by a woman desperately trying to save her brother, and she thinks that Amar's condition might be the answer. The story is set in a high fantasy world, filled with mysterious magic and different nations. The structure of the magical system and lay of the land is unveiled slowly, through the storyline. While I like that, I was a bit lost at the beginning.  It's a very complex story, with many twists and turns.  For the first third of the book, I had a hard time getting into the story. After that, I started really liking it. rating 💜💜💜 cover 💙💙 💙 💙 💙 Goodreads || Amazon received from author series Curse of Shavhalla #1 number of pages 475 published December 14th, 2021 by Sanita Street Publishi

She is good at her job, but lately, her addiction is getting in the way. She spends a lot of nights drinking and has a hard time coming to work on time, always the life of the party.  The last straw is when an edited video of her goes viral. Media backlash follows. There are threats, people are taking sides and Lucy just wants to escape. Her friend Skye's brother owns an outdoor retreat, close to the arctic circle, Wild Zone. When offers come her way, she can't refuse.  She agrees to help with guests, in return for her stay, but getting on the same page as Tommi, the hot owner, is a little bit hard. I love the storyline and the setting. I was transported to Finnland and the beautiful retreat. But I had a hard time liking the characters. I didn't

The One and Only Crystal Druid by Annette Marie || Excerpt

excerpt Lounging on my passenger seat in the form of a white cat, Ríkr yawned, showing off his teeth. You’re in a fine mood this afternoon, dove. “I was thinking about how long I should wait before tormenting Harvey Whitby some more. I didn’t do much damage to him last night.” He will not forget you while limping like a lame heifer. It’s a shame you did not remove any of his teeth. “Maybe I can fix that next time.” Ríkr swished his tail in a pleased way. I adore your viciousness. It reminds me of my impassioned youth. “I’m delighted.” Vengeance is the sweetest wine, he went on in a wistful tone. Are you sure you wouldn’t enjoy a charming blood ritual with the farmer’s corpse bent backward over your altar? “I don’t have an altar.” His ears perked up. We can remedy that easily. Ahead, a gravel driveway diverged from the road. I slowed my truck and turned onto the drive. “Try to tone it down, Ríkr. It’s awkward when the other familiars hide from you.” He gave me a

Sleigh Bells on Bread Loaf Mountain by Lindy Miller

Image
I LOVE reading Christmas books.  I started way back in October and it's still going strong. The best part about it, besides putting me in the best festive mood, is finding new gems. Books I'll read for years to come, again and again, cause they are magical. :) Sleigh Bells on Bread Loaf Mountain is one of the best ones I've read so far. :) Roxanne is on a path to achieving her dreams, she is a fashion editor at a high-end magazine and dreams of having her own designs on a runway. Christmas is filled with family stuff, and she isn't a fan. This year it's very hard to say no. Her grandma is sick and it might be her last Christmas. They are celebrating at a family cabin in Green Mountain. At the last minute she decides to go and leaves way too late. She gets into a car accident only to be saved by a handsome park ranger. Because of the blizzard, they can't get to her family's cabin and she gets snowed in with him. :) The more time they spend together, the mor

Rav by Amber R. Duell & Candace Robinson

Image
Rav is searching for a new victim. With his and his queen Imogen's habit of taking hearths of their servants and those who betray them, they are running out of help. When he finds his new victim, he takes her back to Wonderland and turns her into a vampire. While celebrating new help, with his Queen of Heaths, she disappears and they are betrayed. Rav is a prequel of a new series, a retelling of Alice in Wonderland. The book focuses on Rav, the king of Wonderland. With his Queen, Imogen, they take people from the above, use them as servants, and as snacks after they are done with them. It just takes one bite.    The story sets the tone of a brand new series, a retelling of Alice in Wonderland. But it's not the same as Alice I remember. :) It's steamier and way more intense than the original. There are vampires living in Wonderland, always looking for a new pray to use and devour. And the worst of them is Queen of Hearts, Imogen, and her king, Rav.  I can't wait to read
