First Light by Isabel Jolie

Image
Cali had to move away from her family, to an island, away from her family, because her brother got involved in something and he was afraid for her safety. He made her do some light work for him in his server room and even got her a dog to protect her.  She can't get close to anyone and he is quite controlling, especially not to someone like Logan. But he can control her heart.  Logan is in charge of public safety on the island - it's not big enough to have a police department. There is something about Cali that intrigues him. Their love story is very romantic, with long talks and walks ... I like reading the story (as well as the entire series). :) I couldn't put it down until the last page. :) rating 💜💜💜💜 cover 💙💙💙 Goodreads || Amazon giveaway a Rafflecopter giveaway received from Xpresso Book Tours follow the tour here number of pages 306 genre contemporary, romance, adult published September 28th, 2021 by Noctivity, Inc. synopsis He could be my savior…or my downfa

Simon's Search for the Scary Dragon by Stephen G. Bowling

Image
Simon wants to find the scary dragon. He looks all over the forest for him, asks all of his friends about it and when he finds him, he is not what he expected, at all. :) Simon's Search for the Scary Dragon is a very sweet story, told in rhyme and accompanied by the most beautiful illustrations.  It's has a beautiful message, don't judge by what you were told, use your own mind, and eyes. The picture book reminds me of those classic stories, that every child has to read. :)  Highly recommend it! :) rating 💜💜💜💜💜 cover 💙💙💙💙💙 Goodreads || Amazon received from NetGalley series Simon's Tree House Adventures #2 number of pages 28 genre children's published July 25th, 2021 by Valley of Mexico happy reading, anie Follow @anie_1027 Anie

Rare Vigilance by M. A. Grant

Image
I use to stay away from any LGBT+ romance books because I thought I would not be able to relate to main characters or love stories. Once I gave it a shot, I saw that that could not be further from the truth- if the story is good, it's good (and romantic) no matter the genre. This is one of the very best ones, I've read in a long time. :) Atlas is a former Marine, suffering from PTSD. He bears scars from a mysterious attack on his last mission, that still haunts him every minute. Now he works for Whitethorn agency as a bodyguard. The latest job, is the one everyone quit from, protecting Cristian Slava. Gorgeous and bratty son of a known businessman.  Protecting someone who doesn't want to be protected is very hard to do, but Atlas is not one to quit. There are mysterious things happening, and there is more to Cristian than meets the eye. His loyalty is drawn in different directions when he has to face his biggest fear and uncover who he really works for. It's a very inte

Sienna by J. F. Johns

The story is set in a world, where the worst thing you could be is a cyborg or someone who loves one. A long time ago people started to hate cyborgs, now the world is divided between them. Being cyborg means being hunted, displayed parts of you like trophies, or being sold into slavery or parts. If you are someone who liked them, you don't fair all that well either.  Sienna wakes up in a palace, as one of Masters daughters. There are many girls, each with different talent, sisters, who lives with her. Each time Master kills one of the cyborgs, he marks them to celebrate the occasion. He makes them perform for his friends and more. She is determined to escape the nightmare. In the time she spends there, she became close with Masters son, Ero, who is in a way as trapt are they are. They form an alliance and have a plan to escape, but first, they have to survive. I loved the story! It's very dark, twisty and so very intense. Sure, there are few problems, a few things I didn't

Semenars by Mattias Kronstrand

Image
Semenars is a collection of comics strips, the kind you find in the newspapers. The conversations are between sperms, the ones that have not fulfilled their purpose yet and are full of possibilities. The bits of would-be conversations and little quips are funny and thought-provoking. The kind of book that you don't have to read at once, but keep on the coffee table and leaf through here and there and always find something hilarious. :)  rating 💜💜💜💜 cover 💙💙💙💙💙 Goodreads || Amazon received from author genre graphic published August 21, 2021 happy reading, anie Follow @anie_1027 Anie

Image
Marc's life revolved around baseball, drinking, and one-night stands. Plagued by his parents bad marriage, he is not looking for anything longer. That all changes after the injury prevent him from playing the game. Because of his reputation, he has little chance to be hired as a coach.  One that day he helped his father, who is sick, by going to repair the dishwasher. What he finds is utter chaos. The house with more kids than he can count, and one frazzled lady. One silly accident later, he is not sure what hit him. But he keeps coming back and each time they get a little bit closer. She knows what it feels like to be dragged into the media, so the last thing she wants is to go viral.  When it happens, they strike a deal, a fake relationship to help his reputation. But what they get out is so much more. I love both characters, they are just the sweetest. The backstory, the dialogs, their development, it made them very, very

The same week her best friend announces her engagement.  Gigi had reached the breaking point and she excepts the job as Head Counselor at Camp, the same camp the three of them use to go to. She gets the toughest age group to manage and the girls are determined to make her look back in front of the boys Head Counselor, who happened to be extremely good-looking.  The longer she stays the more of her past comes back to her. It doesn't help that each square cm of the campground is filled with memories. She needs to reexamine her life and find what she really wants in order to move forward. The Sweetest Charade by Jadesola James

Image
I absolutely adore this book! <3 Dr. Alexander Abbott-Hill is a professor at the university, teaching a class, that no one has much interest in and is not all that popular with students. That all changes the day he was accidentally tagged in a steamy photo by the popular influencer.  Delysia Daniels dropped out of medical school to pursue influencing full time. Online she has this happy bubbly persona, but in reality, she is vulnerable and just a little bit broken. She is not doing it just for herself. Her mother back home is sick and she needs money to pay for treatments. Soon after they meet, they both get an opportunity of a lifetime, only if they can keep up with fake dating long enough. The sparks are flying from the start and soon the fake turn into real. It's just the sweetest love story. It's only cute, but the writing is awesome, the characters are very well fleshed out and developed and there is just something to it. :) I read it in one sitting and smiled all the w

Diary of a Contemporary Woman by Lucy Pussett

Image
Diary of a Contemporary Woman follows Angelique, single for the first time in a long time, as she rediscovers herself and deals with life as it comes. There are flashbacks to the past, to the experiences that shaped her. Angelique is an interesting character to follow. She is strong-headed, free, but still tied down by past and society standards.  While I like the story and the main characters a lot, I wasn't the biggest fan of the pacing. There was some part that just flew by, and parts that seem to drag on forever. For some reason, I had a hard time getting into the story.   rating 💜💜 💜 cover 💙💙 💙 Goodreads ||  Amazon received from author genre contemporary published July 23rd, 2021 number of pages 223 happy reading, anie Follow @anie_1027 Anie

I'd Die for You: And Other Lost Stories by Scott F. Fitzgerald

Image
I randomly came across the book in the library, drawn by the cover, and fell in love with it. It's my first book by the author and probably not the book I should have started with, but no regrets. The writing is really something special. It paints the picture so vividly, that I was lost to the world while reading.  Highly recommend it!   rating 💜💜 💜 💜 cover 💙💙 💙 💙 💙 Goodreads  ||  Amazon number of pages 384 genre short stories, classics published April 10th, 2018 by Scribner UK happy reading, anie Follow @anie_1027 Anie

Daughter of the Yellow Dragon: A Mongolian Saga by Starr Z. Davies

Image
Daughter of the Yellow Dragon is set in the 15th century. Few centuries after Genghis Khan, his descendent Manduul is the new Khan, barely competent and the empire is not as it was.   Mandukhai is forced to become a second wife to the Great Khan. She dislikes him from start and how he treats her.  Unebold spend his life in the shadow of Khan, biding his time until he could seize control of the empire. He formes an alliance with Mandukhai, but they are not just partners, there is passion between them that could destroy all that they are working for.  Mandukhai is one of my all-time favorite characters. She is resiliant smart and conniving. With a little shelf from Unebold, she discovered her strength and power within.  It's an incredibly complex story full of nuances, that paint a picture so vivid, I felt like I was transported into the story. The characters are what truly drives the story, the relationships, that are anything but simple, the betrayals, lies, and political intrigue,

Rogue Wave by Isabel Jolie

Image
I absolutely loved it! It's addicting, it's steamy, it's romantic... the kind of book you fly through on summer afternoon. :)  Adrian Tate is lost. At 35, after 10 years on see he returned back to the states. He set as an environmentalist, but after seeing the world up close, he kind of lost his way and hope. His grandmother left him a beach house and he is set on renovating it. That's about the only thing he is sure about at that point.  Luna is a grad student, currently working on the island with turtle preservation. She also helps with renovations around the island. She offers help to the newest resident but doesn't expect to be so attracted to the owner.  At first, he is very reluctant to start anything with her, mostly because of the age difference, but soon chemistry between them wins over. It romance story, that sheds light on some of the bigger issues around the world, like overfishing, slavery, treatment of women and so much more.  Highly recommend it!   ra

Prelude Cycle by S. Kaeth

Image
Prelude Cycle is a novella in the world of Children of the Nexus. There are four short stories, each following a different person. They are nicely rounded but made me want to know more. It's set in a fantasy world, with magic, superpower, and interesting structure. My favorite was the first one, where we follow Taunos as he tries to get to the library and the lengths he has to go do so. He is in foreign lands, can only rely on himself and his wits, and has to be very careful not to reveal his powers. It's like dipping the toes into the unknown lands. :)  I'm not sure how this world is set up or how it works, but reading these four short stories made me very curious to find out and I can't wait to read more. :) I like the writing style of the stories, it's very unique and paints a very vivid picture of the snippets of the worlds described.    rating 💜💜 💜 💜 cover 💙💙 💙 Goodreads   ||  Amazon received from author genre fantasy, short stories published March 22nd,

All I've Wanted All I've Needed by A. E. Valdez

Image
This was just the cutest story. 💜 Harlow's boyfriend and a long-time friend proposed after two years of dating. She said no. For the past two years, it was all about him, never about her. She wasn't even sure if she loved him like that. To escape heartbreak, her best friends recommend joining them on a trip to Bali for yoga teacher training. She decides to and has a blast. At the end of the training new opportunity comes for a job in Seattle and she takes it. New job, new city, new start. :) She lives at her uncle's guest house, helps out at his coffee house sometimes, and starts to discover her passions.  There she meets Acyn. They kind of start on the wrong foot when he comments that her coffee is burnt. Acyn has done his share of sleeping around but wants... more. A true relationship with someone and it just happens that that new someone is his sister's new friend. :) It's a beautiful story of standing up for yourself, discovering your worth, going after your dr
