The Bridgertons: Happily Ever After by Julia Quinn

Image
The book I didn't know I needed. :) It's a lovely collection of second epilogs, set few years after each book. It's lovely to dive back into the world of Bridgerton siblings to see how if their happily ever after is still magical. :) I loved each and every one. :) However, my absolute favorite one was Violet's story. Even though she doesn't marry again, seeing her happy and getting her happily ever after in a way, it's very lovely. :) Highly recommend it to fans of Bridgerton books!   rating 💜💜 💜 💜 💜 cover 💙💙 💙 💙 💙 Goodreads || Amazon series Bridgertons #9 genre adult, romance, historical, regency, short stories published April 2nd 2013 number of pages 480 happy reading, anie Follow @anie_1027 Anie

The Wildest Ride by Marcella Bell

Lilian's whole life evolves around the ranch, where she was raised by her grandparents. After a visit from the bank, they found out that grandfather took out a reverse mortgage and that the payment is due soon. They don't have that kind of money, so she enters an all-new closed-circuit rodeo tour with a big prize. AJ is supposed to be retiring, but the new competition is too good to pass on, besides the program that once saved him depends on that. They are rivals, but the attraction between them is undeniable.  While I like the storyline, I had the hardest time getting into it.    rating 💜💜 💜 cover 💙💙 💙 💙 Goodreads || Amazon received from NetGalley genre contemporary, romance published August 10th, 2021 by HQN number of pages 400 happy reading, anie Follow @anie_1027 Anie

Turtles all the Way Down by John Green

Aza goes to school, she has friends to sit with at school, but she spends most of her time, trapped in the spiral of her own thoughts. Billionaire goes missing and there is a reward to whoever finds him. She used to know his son, so her friend convinces her to pursue the case. It's about mental health, friendship, loss. The writing is very beautiful, but the pace is so slow that I had trouble with concentration. I wished there was more of a storyline to follow inner thoughts, don't get me wrong. I love diving deep into someone's head, but it was a bit too philosophical for my taste.    rating 💜💜 💜 cover 💙💙 💙 💙 💙 Goodreads || Amazon genre contemporary, ya published October 10th, 2017 by Dutton Books for Young Readers number of pages 286 happy reading, anie Follow @anie_1027 Anie

Daughter of Smoke & Bone by Laini Taylor

Image
I've read Daughter of Smoke & Bone a long time ago. A few days ago I saw it in the library and remember how much I loved it. So, naturally, I had to read it again. :) It's even better than I first time round and this time I'm determined to read the entire series. :) Karou is an art student in Prague.  Her family is a bit different. Though special door, she has to go through Issa, a snake lady, to get to her adoptive father, Brimstone who trades with wishes. She goes on errands for him, all over the world, collecting teeth.  One day black handprints start to spear on special doors, portals that Karou uses, and people reports seeing angels everywhere. Karou doesn't pay much attention until one attacks her.  Akiva stopped feeling anything a long time ago, now his mind is set on revenge. Until he comes across Karou, doing the devil's work. There is something about her, the way she moves that brings back memories.  When secrets are revealed, nothing can go back to th

Poppy Bridgerton is very independent and follows her own rules. While visiting a friend, she loves to go escape on long walks and explore. This time she found more than she hoped for, a hidden cave, hidden with treasured. Only to be discovered by pirated and kidnapped.  Andrew is a privateer, but secretly transfers secret documents for the British government. He is about to set on an important sail to Portugal when two of his men bring a woman on board. He knows who she is, but she has no idea. Spending so much time together, the sparks fly. It's a lovely story, but for some reason, I had the hardest time getting into it. I didn't hold the same magic for me, as did the first one in the series.   rating 💜💜 💜 cover 💙💙 💙 💙 Goodreads || Amazon series Rokesbys #3 genre adult, romance, historical, regency published November 20th, 2018 by Avon number of pages 391 happy reading, anie Follow @anie_1027 Anie

Love Bloom by Jo McNally

Image
It's the night before the wedding, it should be the happiest time of her life, but seeing her parents talk about divorce, pushed Lucy Higgins over the edge. The stress of planning the wedding the way her future mother in law wants, switching job to the family business, and then finally getting her fiance back, who is nothing like before, it was just too much.  The next morning she ran in her best friend's car to a small town in New York. She finds a job, friends, and home. Running is something she does very well. But Owen her former fiance is not ready to give up so easily. He moves to the town, her town for a month, determined to win her back, to convince her to go back.  The problem with running is that you never calm down and while it makes the romance hot, it does do well with friendship, companionship. The more Owen and Lucy talk, the more they realize that they don't even know each other. But the time has come to make a choice, follow your own heart or do what you are

Because of Miss Bridgerton by Julia Quinn

Prequel to Bridgerton series, the first book in the Rokesbys series follows Billie Bridgerton, older sister of Edmund the father of Bridgerton kids, and the oldest of the Rokesbys, George.  The neighboring family was always very close, when they were younger the kids played together and now they are good friends. Billie always thought she would end up with one of them, except for George, she dislikes him very much.  Billie is not a typical female of that time. She basically runs the estate, gets into everything, and has no patience for things like balls. One day, trying to save a cat she gets stuck on the roof, and who comes to save her? George. Even though she thinks he is full of himself, the spark fly between them. :) It's enemies to loves story, my favorite, even though they are not really enemies, there is more dislike than hate. :) It's fun, romantic, steamy, and addicting to read. :)    rating 💜💜 💜 💜 💜 cover 💙💙 💙 💙 Goodreads || Amazon series Rokesbys #1 genre ad

I was the most excited for Chris's story, but this was just... OK.  Chris never wanted a mate. In fact, he avoids it at all costs. The only girl he fell for, was the one he couldn't have. Chris saved Beth when she was just a little kid and kept track of her, visited her, brought her gifts. Until one day, when she was no longer a girl, but a young woman, he fell for her. And left shortly after.  Beth never really forgives him for it. Not at the new command center, they are thrown back together. Beth is determined to stay away and Chris is aiming for quite the opposite. :) There is a new villain in town and the team is hard at work to figure out who he is and eliminate him. The story was OK, but what I didn't like the most was Beth. I didn't feel any chemistry between them, no tension. One of my favorite thing about the original series was that, yes there was romance, but there was something else going on, the plot with bad guys and powers and stuff. Here the other plot

First year by Rachel E. Carter

Every time I read this story, I'm reminded of just who incredibly awesome it is. It has an awesome world, an interesting, magic system, a school for future mages, and a girl who has to try very, very hard to get to the top. :) Ryiah always wanted to be a mage and train in Combat, the most prestigious and the most intense faction of magic.  The road to school was full of danger, but that is nothing compared to the actual school year. It's the most difficult thing she ever did, but she is nothing if stubborn. She trains and studies and trains some more. She came this far, and she is not giving up, but will the determination be enough.   rating 💜💜 💜 💜 💜 cover 💙💙 💙 💙 💙 Goodreads || Amazon series The Black Mage #1 genre ya, high fantasy, magic published January 24th, 2017 number of pages 322 happy reading, anie Follow @anie_1027 Anie

The first book, Obsidian, I've read like a million times. It's one of my favorites, like Twilight, but with aliens. :) However, this was the first time I've read the second book in the series. I was afraid that I will not like it as much as the first one. Well, after reading it (and book #3), I think it's good, but for the future, I think I will stick with reading Obisidian. :) Deamon is determined to prove to her that he likes her, not just because of their connection. His job gets extra difficult with a new guy in town. Blake zooms on Katy almost immediately. He is sure he can help her, cause something similar happened to him, but Katy shouldn't trust him. My biggest issue with the book was Katy, while I like her, she can be extremely frustrating at times.   rating 💜💜 💜 💜 cover 💙💙 💙 Goodreads || Amazon series lux #2 genre urban fantasy, paranormal, aliens, romance, ya published August 14th, 2012 by Entangled Teen number of pages 421 happy reading, anie Foll

After all, that happened in the last book Fire and Cinder , Elle and Alec are together again. But nothing stays simple for them, for too long. Alec has a company to save. His parent's reckless leadership has left the company in red and all those people and dwarves are going to be without a job if he doesn't do something. So there is going to be another Glass Slipper Ball. They are hoping that publicity will drive sales up. But they need someone to spread the word so they set up a meeting with a rising streaming star. Only she keeps blowing them off, so they let themselves in, with a little help. :) Elle is getting pulled into another dimension, and before they can fight the new opponent they have to figure out, who he is and how he fits into the world. :) These books are so addicting, once you start reading, there is no way to put the book down, till the last page and they always leave you wanting more. :)  The story is very intense, fast-paced, and full of action and kissing t

There is something about this book, that keeps pulling me back in. It's not perfect by any means, it's very similar to Twilight, it's a little bit predictable, the characters can be frustrating, but... but there is something to it. :) Every time I pick it up, I get sucking into the worlds of Kat and Deamon. I love the banter, the world, the aliens with superpowers, the tension between them. The whole will finally get together or kill each other, it's addicting. :) Kat moved to a small town in West Virginia with her mother, three years after her father dies. Her mom decides that they need a fresh start. She encourages Katy to try to make it work. She meets her new best friend very soon, and her impossible twin brother sooner. :) But there are weird things going on, that can't be explained.  The truth is even weirder than she expected and it brings with a whole another set of problems. It's addicting, it's the kind of story you have to read in one sitting. :)

Gregory believes in true love. So much so, that he is looking for it everywhere. At his brother's party, he sees a girl and is convinced that he feel in love. The only problem - she does feel the same. Her best friend are use to that, everyone sees Hermione for her beauty, and she is just someone that talks to get to the real prize.  Something about Gregory makes her want to help him. She tells him that Hermione is in love, but that does stop Gregory. She even gives him advice on how to get close to her. It seems to be working until they find her in a compromising position with Lucy's older brother. :)  Gregory realized that it couldn't be love, because he is not all that heath broken because of it. And then he kisses Lucy. :) Lucy is engaged, her uncle basically forced the engagement on her and she went along with it. Too bad, she feels for Gregory... :) And when she tries to get out of it, the truth of why she has to marry is revealed.  Gregory tries to stop the wedding,

I didn't read past the original series for many re-reads. Loving the series, and all the characters, I was afraid that I won't like the books... it's a bummer, that I was kind of right.  Haven follows Roland on his happily ever after. He has a good job, he's making plans, the only thing missing is a mate, which he is avoiding by all means. This time, when pack gathering comes round, he can't escape it. The trouble is, that he finally finds his other half, but she is not like he could ever imagine. It's a lovely story, but I wanted something more earth-shattering for him, something awesome... He is one of my favorites in the original series and I don't think the story did him justice or Peter for that matter. I just wanted... more.   rating 💜💜 💜 cover 💙💙 Goodreads || Amazon series Relentless #5 genre ya, urban fantasy, paranormal, werewolves published May 2nd 2017 happy reading, anie Follow @anie_1027 Anie

The story picks up right after Onyx. Adam is gone and Dawson is back. But not fully. Beth is still held at DOD and he is determined to back for her. And Deamon is determined to keep him safe and keeps an eye on him, all the time.  When he takes Katy out once, Dawson disappears and he goes after him. Katy should go home, but she is extra Katy and goes after them and she promised Dawson help. It gets a hell of more complicated after that. Blake wants to help, but can they trust him, Dee is changing and a whole thing reeks of a trap.  I like the storyline and the characters, of course, I don't think that any book in the series could come close to Obsidian for me... :)    rating 💜💜 💜 💜 cover 💙💙 💙 Goodreads || Amazon series Lux #3 genre urban fantasy, paranormal, ya, romance, aliens published December 11th, 2012 by Entangled Teen number of pages 394 happy reading, anie Follow @anie_1027 Anie

It's In His Kiss by Julia Quinn

Hyacinth is one of a kind. Extremely smart plays by her own rules and doesn't hold back. Ever. Every week she read with Lady Danbury, voluntarily, and likes it. :) At the annual Smythe-Smith concert, she meets Gareth, lady Danbury's nephew.  Gareth didn't have the easiest time growing up. His father is plain awful. The horror that he bestowed on his brother and still in his mind and when he left home, Lady Danbury took him in. His father is determined to ruin the estate before it comes to his hands, but then he finds a diary of his grandma. The only problem, it's written in Italian. He needs a translation and Hyacinth offers to do it. She knows a bit of Italian and has a thing for mysteries. :) It's such a romantic story and quite different from others in the series. I loved it!    rating 💜💜 💜 💜 💜 cover 💙💙 💙 💙 Goodreads || Amazon series Bridgertons #7 genre adult, romance, historical, regency published June 28th, 2005 by Avon number of pages 384 happy readi

Reading Diary || Week #28

Image
Thursday It's been a funky kind of week, I've been reading little here and there, jumping between the books and there is really no story grabbing me. It's the worst feeling. I prefer to lose myself in a story, to be transported... not just aimlessly wander from book to book.  In the evening I did read a bit of Daughter of Smoke & Bone . It's re-read and it's been too long. :) I want to finish the series, I've been thinking about it a lot lately, for some reason, and it all starts with one book. :) Friday I've finished Daughter of Smoke & Bone. What an ending... omg. :) I can wait to read the next one in the series... I think I'll have to read the original, cause the translation is sucky. :)  I've started Turtles All the Way Down by John Green. It's the first book I've read by him and I'm not impressed. Don't get me wrong, the writing is absolutely beautiful, but the storyline is not grabbing me... Saturday I was in a contempo
