Weatherman by Price Doom

Sonny and his daughter Hearth are on their own, running from God. He has superpowers, he believe that only he can save the Sun and that he can help people. He talks to Heart about it since she was little and it's all she knows, so she believes. Over the years she starts to notice stuff that doesn't quite make sense, like the girl in the back of the car that he supposedly healing, and books that she is reading, that tell a different story. But he always has an explanation.  One day she manages to go away for a bit and looks for her mom on line. The harsh reality of her life and she came to be is revealed, however, Sonny is not giving her so fast. I love the premise of the story and the writing is on point. It's like walking in the shoes of a delusional person and seeing him raise a child in that world of his. The storyline was good, but I felt like there was something missing, like how the daughter stops believing him-I wish there was more in between -I trust you completely

An Offer From a Gentleman by Julia Quinn

Image
It's official, I'm addicted to Bridgertons. :)  An Offer From a Gentleman is quite different from the previous three. Still awesome, but with a different tone. I was quite intrigued to start the book with Benedict, he was one of the brothers, that I didn't know much about. (My favorite is still Colin :) ).  At lady Bridgerton's masquerade ball, Benedict meets a mysteriously strange, who turns his life around in one night, with just one kiss. When it struck midnight, she has to run off, and he is left standing without even knowing her name. On every dance that comes after, for months and months, he looks for his mystery lady, until one night when he saves a servant from horrible men.  Sophie Beckett is an illegitimate child and when she turns up at his door, he takes her in and takes care of her as her guardian. It's all good until he remarries and the new wife is not a fan. When he unexpectedly dies, she turns Sophie into her slave, doing the work of at least three

Reading Diary || #24

Monday It's been quite a week, a week of rest and restoration (that I was in dire need of), a week of extreme heat (the hell is up with that, I felt like melted crayon most of the days :)) and a week of Bridgertons. : I've read a lot, anything I had time.  Over the weekend I watched a little bit of the series on Netflix and got the biggest urge to read the rest of the series (I've read #1 and #2 and then stopped for who knows what reason).  I got #3 An offer From a Gentleman from a library and  read in one giggly, happy swoop. :) And then I couldn't stop... I had the whole day to myself-that helped and  I just read. I finished Romancing Mister Bridgerton by  lunchtime-I think that is my actual favorite of the bunch, it has Colin<3 and To Sir Phillip, With Love by evening. That I had to sadly stop, cause apparently expecting the whole world to stop until I'm done with the series, it's too much to ask? 😁 Tuesday I couldn't sleep all that well, I'm g

Tides-Ada Hughes Novella by Patricia Morais

Image
That was a totally awesome and intriguing read, I want more!  Ada lives with her two little brothers and father in Tide Springs, a little fishing town. She working as hard as she can, so she can save enough money to take her brothers and leave far away. The home that they live in is very toxic. Father is quite horrible. He used to be a fisherman, but lost his job and now spends his days drinking and making trouble. Ada has to take care of everything and prone to violent outbursts. Then children start to disappear from their beds. She does all that she can, but tragedy still struck. It's the end of an era but opens up her life to a whole new world. It's not a long book, and I read it super fast, cause I needed to know what happens next. The writing is beautiful, and the mythology intriguing. Highly recommend it! rating 💜💜💜💜 💜 cover 💙💙💙 💙 received from author published June 8th, 2021 genre ya, fantasy, paranormal number of pages 80 Amazon  ||  Goodreads happy reading, an

Midnight Sun by Stephenie Meyer

I waited for this book, ever since I've read the draft that the author posted on her page after the book was leaked. OMG, I was not disappointed at all.  It the best of all Twilight books. :) Being in Edward's book, gives the story a whole new layer and even Bella doesn't sound so mellow anymore. :)  The same story from the original Twilight is told from Edward's point of view, but the feeling when reading the story is not the same. It's a much better to experience. <3 Also, it's very long. :) But I loved every page. It's totally awesome. :) Highly recommend it to all Edward fans. :) rating 💜💜💜💜💜 cover 💙💙💙💙💙 series The Twilight Saga #5 published August 4th, 2020 by Little, Brown Books for Young Readers genre ya, romance, paranormal, vampires number of pages 658 Amazon  ||  Goodreads happy reading, anie Follow @anie_1027 Anie

The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman, Chris Riddell (Illustrator)

Image
I was very pleasantly surprised by how much I loved it.  Nobody Owens's family was killed by a Jack. He, just a toddler, escaped and is growing up in the graveyard. His adoptive parents, as well as all of the residents of the Graveyard, worked hard to raise him, and teach him all the important stuff, like fading, raising fear and terror in the room, the real history. :) When his killer is finally beaten, he can leave. But leaving means he can never come back again. It's about growing up, about letting go and moving on. It's bittersweet, but so very beautiful tale. rating 💜💜💜💜 💜 cover 💙💙💙 💙 💙 published October 20th, 2008 by Bloomsbury genre paranormal, ghost, middle grade number of pages 289 Amazon  ||  Goodreads happy reading, anie Follow @anie_1027 Anie

The Viscount Who Loved Me by Julia Quinn

Image
I'm totally addicted to the series. :)  In the second book, Anthony Bridgerton decides that is time to take a wife. He doesn't want to find love, because he is convinced that he won't live long, but want to find someone who fits his criteria and have an heir. He picks the perfect wife. Only problem, her older sister. They are very close and Kate will have to approve the union before she says yes to anyone. Only problem Kate hates him. :) He spends quite a lot of time convincing her, just enough that they both start to catch feelings and when they are found in a very compromising situation, there is nothing left but to marry.  The only thing left is to convince Kate that she is the one he loved from the start. :) It's fluffy, fast paces, addicting. :) rating 💜💜💜💜 💜 cover 💙💙💙 💙 series Bridgertons #2 published December 5th, 2000 genre romance, historical number of pages 354 Amazon  ||  Goodreads happy reading, anie Follow @anie_1027 Anie

Book of May

Image
It's that time again to look back to the book I loved in the past month (and those I didn't). In the month of May, I've read 13 books, even one nonfiction. :) (It's been a while :)).  Let's just say, I wasn't impressed and I'll stick to fiction. :) Anyhow, I've read some truly awesome books! Like The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman, it's my  first book by the author, and I was very very surprised by how much I love the story. It's a very unique story and the writing is just beautiful. It tells the story of Nobody Owens, whose family was killed by Jack and he is raised in the Graveyard until the killer can be defeated and he go back to the world. It's a bitter-sweet book, but so beautiful. :) I can't believe it took me so long to read it, but I finally read I, Robot by Isaac Asimov. I loved the movie, and I have high expectations. The book is short, and nothing like the movie, but somehow very good. :) It's a collection of short storie

Victoria is next in line for her matchmaking grandma extraordinaire. But not like another member of her family, she is very happy to be next and to meet the love of her life. She thinks she has her grandma all figure out and knows who the guy is, but she feels nothing for him and he for her. Regardless she is willing to put all her trust in her grandma.  In the meantime, she meets Roman. He is a politician, but also hot and kind, and they have inside chemistry. The more time they spend together deeper the bond gets. But she is still holding back.  Tanner, the guy she thinks she is supposed to be with her, falls for the health inspector. :) It's a lovely story of two reluctant couples finding love. While I somewhat liked the storyline, I had a hard time staying focused on the book, it was overly long. rating 💜💜💜 💜 cover 💙💙💙 received from NetGalley published April 27th, 2021 by HQN Books genre contemporary, romance number of pages 320 series Catalina Cove #4 Amazon  ||  Goodre

Huntress by Christina Bauer

Image
I was looking forward to reading Huntress's story, she was always somewhat of a mystery and now I know why. :) Huntress is a hive queen novice, she has the potential to be Queen of glass dragons one day and Gage is her rhana. He has access to the memories of his Manchester. They are destined to be together. Then a tragedy happens, their people are destroyed, with just a few surviving. They are spit out 500 years later. Huntress is found and adopted by the king and queen. She blocks her memories, so she can have a life with them. When they meet in the future, the attraction is instant, but the road to love is a very slow burn. I enjoyed reading it very, very much. :) The writing is awesome, as usual. :) The story is fast-paced, funny, and intense. Winning Streak: Tales and Trivis of 40 Most Popular Board Games by John-Michael Gariepy

Image
I love board games, of almost any kind and I adore trivia, so I very excited to dive into the book. While I mostly enjoyed it, the most prevalent thought was, that it could be a lot better.  Winning Streak talks about games that were top 40 on listed by Ranker at one point. Games are described, with little trivia sprinkled in between.  The premise, the idea, it's all great, but the narrative was interrupted too often for me, especially with edits. Love the idea, not so much the final result. rating 💜💜💜 cover 💙💙💙 💙 💙 received from Author genre nonfiction number of pages 196 Goodreads happy reading, anie Follow @anie_1027 Anie

Drake by A. M. Salinger

Image
Roman is a world-known rockstar, who has a bit of a reputation as a bad boy after dealing with addiction and public outbursts. Now he is clean and attending a wedding in Twilight Falls where he rans into Drake. It should be just a one-night thing, but he can't get him out of his head, so on a break from music he buys a property in Twilight Falls. Drake doesn't think he can love anyone, after childhood he had. One night's stand with Roman is stuck with him and he wants more. When he finds out that Roman bought the property he was eyeing for so long, he gets might pissed and back out of contract (he is a builder). And Roman has to use all his charm to convince him. :)  They agree on no string attached fling, but soon they both fall for each other. It's such a steamy and very romantic story. :)  Even though it's book five in the series, I didn't feel like I was missing something, although it did make me want to read all previous books. :) rating 💜💜💜 💜 cover 💙
