Dare by Christina Bauer

Image
There is something about this series, that is so incredibly addicting. :) All of the books so far, are funny, fast-paced, page-turners, and Dare is no different.  Calla is the queen of the Summer Fae, but most of her subjects or even friends and family don't take her seriously, instead just expecting another prank and when she goes about changing stuff, no one believes her, until it happens. :) She wants to put everyone's voice on the council and free all the humans, but at first, there is a bigger threat on the horizon. They must find Ogham's sword before the Usurper. On top of Dare is being framed and Saiti seems to work against her. Dare was a bit lighter read than the previous story. There was a bit more Calla- Dare time, which I loved. <3 :)  My only complaint, I wish Dare's voice was more district. I didn't get a good feel for him, who he is, or what he wants, because his voice kind of blended with the story. rating 💜💜💜 💜 💜 cover 💙💙 💙 giveaway a Raf

Mara's Awakening by Leo Flynn

Image
Mara's Awakening is a short story set in space. Mara is a fierce warrior who is now in prison. She spends the past 6 years in solitary confinement but never giving up. Now that she is out of there, with the help of alliances, they break out. I love the idea of the story and the setting, I love space operas. :) however reading it felt like a snippet from a longer story, not a well-rounded short one. I wished there were more, more characters, more of their backstory and motivation why they do what they do - especially Mara. That being said, the story is bursting with potential... :) rating 💜💜💜 cover 💙💙 received from author series The Mara Files #1 published March 31st genre sci-fi number of pages 60 Amazon || Goodreads happy reading, anie Follow @anie_1027 Anie

Immortal Illusions by Alexa Whitewolf

Saying that I loved the book would be an understatement. It's the perfect blend of mythology and modern-day, and of romance and mystery.  The author has a talent for creating characters that jump out of the pages, that feel very real, the kind that you can't help but fall in love with. For me, Immortal Illusion is the best book of hers, I've read so far. :)  Vampire royalty, descendants of Dracula, the princes, and princess have moved back to Transylvania. In order to stay hidden from normal people, they move from time to time. When one of the sisters gets unexplainably sick, Nicolae goes to get a local doctor who treats humans and vampires alike. Only he is dead.  Tassa lives in the village, and helps his father, with his work. One night he gets attacked and killed in their home and she barely makes it, with the little help of Nicolae, who was just a little too late to save them both.  He takes her to the castle and asks her to heal his sister.  Tassa is torn by the myster

Music & Mirrors by Candace Robinson

Since I loved the first book in the series ( Lyrics & Curses ) I was beyond excited to jump in the second one.  The first thing to note, the covers are both so beautiful <3. Second I love this series.<3  As I've come to expect with the author, the story is incredibly unique - every time I pick one of her books, I'm surprised by how each is one of kind, nothing I've read before, and I'm all for it!  In the Music & Mirrors, we jump through the mirror and follow Ridley and Leni. :) Now back home they have to be punished for what happened. But there might be a chance to end it all, but the road there is long and twisty. :)  While I still like the first one a little bit more, this one is awesome in its own way. The story dives deep into the characters, seeing the way their world works and getting to know them, I got to understand and care for them (let's just say I wasn't a fan in the first book :)). The world through the mirror is incredibly unique and

5 Cover I love

I know, I know, I should judge a book by the content, by how the story makes me feel, not by the cover. BUT, to be honest, when I'm browsing in the bookstore or library, it's the cover that catches my attention and makes me want to pick the book up... :) (or a good recommendation 😊) Here are five that I just love (as well as the story inside 😊) Cruel Prince by Holly Black Carve the Mark by Veronica Roth Cinder by Marissa Meyer Shadow and Bone by Leigh Bardugo Angelfall by Susan Ee Do you see any of your faves?  happy reading, anie Follow @anie_1027 Anie

Obsidian by Jennifer L. Armentrout

You that book that you have to read over and over again, that book that puts a smile on your face regardless of how many times it's been read, that book that makes you giggle and swoon, and that book that you want to start again after you turn the last page? Obsidian is that book for me. It's magical. :) I'll admit it's not without faults and cliches (lots of them), but I don't notice those when I'm reading because it pulls me in, the world melts away and I feel like I'm there with Katy and Deamon, I'm annoyed with Deamon and in awe of his power and it leaves me feeling happy and always wanting more.  Katy moves to West Virginia with her mother. Her father died three years ago and her mother decided that they needed a change. They moved next to the house of gorgeous twins, Deamon and Dee. Katy immediately finds a friend in Dee and an enemy in Deamon. They seem to always clash, no matter what the topic, but there is some kind of attraction underneath.  Wh

Reading Diary || week 10

Saturday It's been a year. Actually, it's has been many years. I lost everything I had, all that I was, and that it was important to me. I couldn't finish school, even thou it was something I worked for, for so so long. Your kind of have to remember basic math to be able to do science, right? :) I lost control over my body, ability to do all I wanted. And on top of that, I blamed myself. I can hardly walk, it must have been something I did, I'm too tired to get my own water, I probably eat something funky... not the best of most helpful thing. Anyhow, February was the first month in I don't even know how long, that I felt like myself. I don't want to jinx it, but I think I'm getting better. Even if it's at a snail pace, I'm getting somewhere.  And when everything else gets better, I read more. :) Today was kind of do all the little things we didn't do over the week kind of day. And read outside, it's finally getting warmer. I still have to we

Shifting Islands by Greene M. Wills

Baroness has been in labor for two long days. Baron was hoping for a boy, an heir. To the surprise of everyone, she birthed two kids, a boy, and a girl, but only the girl survive. Baron was beyond angry, he was hoping for an heir, so he did something quite different, he decides the child was a boy and swore everyone to secrecy.  Nikos was raised as a boy. In the 17th century, that was a great advantage. He got an education, and most importantly freedom, to do as he pleases, to pursue his goal and life.  The story follows the child as he grows up, tries to find himself (and herself). It's a unique journey but by no means the easy one. Growing up is hard to do, especially at that time in history. And switched genres just made it a whole lot more challenging. Like when she got the first period and had no idea what was going on, or when she went out with the boys and had to fake being drunk in order to avoid, having to sleep with a girl. When her mother gifted her a dress and wanted to

Shelter for the Damned by Mike Thorn

I love discovering new and unique stories in all genres, you that kind of stories that are diff erent, that doesn't fit the mold, that turns the mold upside down and makes you think and feel differently. I had high hope that Shelter for the Damned would be that kind of a story. And it was in a way.  Teenagers look for a place to smoke, where no one can see them and they come across the shack in the field.  Mark, Adam, and Scott enter the shack. They each come with baggage, especially Mark. He struggles with anger, rage and doesn't connect with his family. He seems detached from normal life and the shack provides escape for him. But it's not just a small building, there is something more sinister lurking behind. And it wanted Mark. It's not like anything I've ever read before. The start is kind of slow, and then it gets weird. :) It's intense and scary at the same time.  The only thing I didn't like was the writing style, it worked for the story, but I had a

Children of Blood and Bone

Another day, another long-overdue review. I've been behind on my review and readings and books and all the stuff since forever it seems. My goal for the first third of the year was to catch up. I'm doing good so far, only like 10 or 15 more books to read before it there. :) It would be easier to do if there weren't always new exciting shiny books to read... :) I got loads of books for my BD back in December and I'm still reading through them.  Recently I've read Children of Blood and Bone. I'm still not totally sure if I love or like or it's just meh. There were some awesome parts, that I absolutely adored, like the magical system and the whole king took all the magic away, and the characters, Zelie and prince and her brother and his sister, all messed up in their own kind of way, doing wrong stuff, but think it's good... The adventure was another awesome side, I felt like I was reading a magical Indiana Jones adventure set in Africa. Things that I didn&

Books of February

It's was the hardest, it was the bestest and it was the weirdest month. :) And I was in a very, very good reading mood. I've read 16 books, some good, some awesome, and some OK. Here are some that stood out this month. I listened to the audiobook after I saw a video about reading more. And you know what, I discovered that I actually kind of like audiobooks, and got to read so much more. Who would have thought? :) When the book got really good, I pause the audiobook and read on the book, and then the next and another after that. :) It's been a long time since I've read/listen to the Obsidian , but there is something so addicting about that book, and I read the #2 Onyx and #3 Opal in the evening. It's was along the night. :)  But totally with it. Though, I still think that the first book it's a lot better than the rest. :) I've read The Duke and I , because I adore the Netflix show and loved it. :) OK, there were some icky parts, but all in all, it's su

review After her mother was taken and her father cursed by Fae, Bryn spends most of her learning about and killing Fae. But after she realizes that she is way over her head, she will have to rely on her friends, to help her. I love the Fae in the story, the Welsh folklore is a bit different from what I usually read but so interesting. :) Shadelings were my favorite thing in the whole book, they were there to protect Bryn and her family and did a little bit around the house. And when they found another home, I was so sad. :) It's an awesome story, full of folklore, many twists and turns, and fae. :) The plotline was a bit confusing at times, but I still liked it. What I didn't like was Bryn. I don't know why, there is just something about her character, that I had trouble connecting with and caring for her. rating 💜💜💜 💜 cover 💙💙💙 💙 received from author published August 25th, 2020 by Swoon Reads genre ya, urban fantasy, Fae number of pages 335 Goodreads || Amazon happ
