Ruthless Pride by Naima Simone

review I liked the idea behind the storyline, the icy guy who wants to restore his family's reputation, after what his father did and who seems unreachable, falls in love with the journalist who wants to did deeper, into what actually happened with his father and what is going on now.  Featuring one of my favorite tropes, enemies to lovers. But the execution was not there. The start was promising, but it didn't pull me in, and was left mostly confused by the end.  While I like back and forth between the characters and the attraction that was instant between them, I didn't connect with the romance or them. rating 💜💜 cover 💙💙 received from Netgalley series Dynasties: Seven SIns #1 published October May 1st, 2020 by Harlequin Desire genre contemporary, romance number of pages 224 Amazon || Goodreads happy reading, anie

Sweet on You: A Filipino Christmas romance by Carla de Guzman

Image
review The story is set in Fillipiness during Christmas time. Sari runs part of the family business, the cafe. She is very good at making coffee taste amazing, but her pastries could use some work. :) I love her personality, she is passionate, driven, and kind of a grump. :) Gabriel moves to the shop next door and opens a new bakery. His pastries are to dies for and he has something to prove. However Sari sees him as a treat to her shop, so they engage in a silly prank war. But the more time they are messing with each other, the more time they want to spend together.  I love the setting and the storyline. Enemies to lovers is one of my favorite tropes and I would have loved to drink one of her coffees. :) However, the writing wasn't my favorite and I'm not the biggest fan of the ending... rating 💜💜💜 cover 💙💙 💙 received from Netgalley published October 19th, 2020 by Carina Press genre contemporary, romance Amazon || Goodreads happy reading, anie

Fallen by Alexa Whitewolf

review My favorite duo is back. :) Fallen is the first book in a brand new series Demoni Sancti. We follow Dante and Daymon💜 as they faced the aftermath of Katya's choice. She is Flama, being born every 500 years, that has to choose Hell or Heaver for the world. She burned the world in flames.  They are not sure if she is alive or dead, but things are bad. Dante gets a very cold reception in Heaven. He notices strange things happening. And the same happens to Daymun. Nothing feels the same, as before his 25 years on Earth. Back on Earth, in order to investigate, they discover bits of the truth, of what is really going on and it's not good. It will be up to them to try and save the Earth. I love the writing, it's face-paced and witty. And I just love characters, they are the complete opposite, maybe that's why they work so well together and their interaction are hilarious. :) But... Daymun is by far my fav. :) Great start of the new series, looking forward to seeing m

48 Hour Lockdown by Carla Cassidy

review  Reading 48 Hour Lockdown, was like watching a very good episode of a good crime/mystery TV Show. :) The school invasion turned into a full-on hostage situation, so Tactical Crime Division is called and hostage negotiator Evan Duran. He is very good at his job, but it turns personal when he finds out that his former girlfriend is one of the hostages. It brings intensity, but not a lot of depth, so it was a bit harder to connect to the story at times. Still, I wasn't sure till the end, who was responsible and enjoyed the ride. :) rating 💜💜💜 💜 cover 💙💙 received from NetGalley series Tactical Crime Divison #1 published April 1st, 2020 by Harlequin Intrigue genre mystery, thriller number of pages 256 Amazon || Goodreads happy reading, anie

Dirty Tactics by Emma Salah

review She wants him, he wants her too. The only problem she is his best friend little sister and off-limits. There is undeniable chemistry between them like you could catch on fire being near chemistry.  She has two weeks to convince him and he has two weeks to convince her of the opposite. But she doesn't play fair. :) I loved the dynamic between them, the intentional crappy stuff Zay did, that he knew will piss her off, like bringing her flowers. :) But they got frustrating at times too.  It's a steamy story, with a lot of fun parts between. However, I didn't like the flow of the story, and the pacing seems to of at times. rating 💜💜💜 💜 cover 💙💙 received from NetGalley series The Dirty Thomas Siblings #1 published July 20th, 2020, by Carina Press genre contemporary, romance Amazon || Goodreads happy reading, anie

More Than Neighbors by Shannon Stacey

Image
review Moving to a new place with her daughter, she wants a new start. It's not easy starting it all again.  And then there is her very hot neighbor. He is there to clean out his grandma's house and keeps on talking to her, even though she could not be more distant. But when even her daughter warms up to him, she has no choice but to open her heart. She is reluctant at first, but the more time they spend together, the feelings start to form. I loved the storyline, it's just the sweetest story of second chances, living again, and letting go. The writing style wasn't my favorite though, I had a hard time connecting to it. rating 💜💜💜 cover 💙💙 received from NetGalley published July 1st, 2020, by Harlequin Special Edition genre contemporary, romance number of pages 288 Amazon || Goodreads happy reading, anie

Better Believe It by Fern Ronay

Image
review Jada is very unhappy with her life. She has a husband, a child, and a great job. And she likes to post about her perfect like on social media. But the reality is that she doesn't like her husband anymore, she finds motherhood very demanding and on top of that, her relationship with her mother is very strained. Instead of doing something about it, she rather escapes into her phone. In her dreams, she spends time with her dead grandparents. With how her life is going, they feel like it's time to bring in the big guns, her dead cousin Gina. She is straightforward and doesn't mince words. She pushed Jade to take charge of her life before it's too late. Jade doesn't remember the dreams when she wakes but gets a strong gut feeling to do something. It a very familiar story, very fitting of our times. It's so much easier to get lost on the phone, to live your life through social media than to actually live it IRL. I found the story very eye-opening and moving.  J

Bandits and Ball Gowns by Christina Bauer

Image
This is turning into one of my all-time favorite series. 😁 Bandits and Ballgown is the fifth book in the Fairy Tales of the Magicorum series, and the second book following Elle. Elle is living by the fairytale template of Cinderella. at the end of the previous book, it seems like Elle and her Prince finally got her happy ever after. His evil parents and her evil stepfamily were banished into the Fairyland and all seemed well. But it's never that easy, especially for Elle. Alec has his hands full with taking over the family company. Elle has her own set of problems, there is an annoying mob of people shouting stuff in front of her place, a strange genie is visiting and causing problems and their family are up to no good. Bri, Knox, and Colonel are on their own mission. And when Alec disappears, it's up to her, to do her thing. :) Jacoby doesn't want love, he wants a powerful wife, who can help keep him alive and Elle looks lčike a valid candidate until he sets his eyes o

Wild Horses on the Salt by Anne Montgomery

The book follows the story of Rebecca. She was in a very bad relationship, full of abuse. She ran away and ended up in Arizona. She meets new people, and start to very slowly rebuild her life. All she wished for is peace. But the past will catch up with her again, it will take all she got to escape, one final time. The story of Rebecca is intertwined with the story of a wild horse, who escapes much like her and searches for a family. I like the setting of the story, it's very beautiful. The pace of the story is quite slow and descriptive. While is like the storyline I had trouble connecting to the story. rating 💙💙💙 cover 💜💜💜 received from author genre contemporary, romance published June 14th, 2020 by Liaison - A Next Chapter Imprint number of pages 200 Amazon || Goodreads happy reading, anie Follow @anie_1027

The Stark Divide by J. Scott Coatsworth

Image
From the first page, I was in love with the story. Is the story of Forever, one of the three-generation ships, and how she came to be. In the future spaceships are made of organic material, they are living beings, genetically engineered, fused with metal, and artificial intelligence. On a mission in one of these living spaceships, one of the crewmates deliberately infect it, engineer that was also on board, was able to communicate with the shipmind, and follow its instruction to save. They place the seed on an asteroid, as long as the dead body of the man who sacrificed himself. Ten years later that little seed transformed the asteroid into a multigenerational ship and the former captain is now in charge. The woman who was in prison for ten years for her crimes comes back as long as the son of the engineer. But things start to malfunction and go wrong. The story is very complex and full of awesome characters. I love the pacing, it just the right amount of intensity that you can'

Perfect World by Shari Sakurai

In the future, the world is not as it was. Because of climate change, tsunamis, all kinds of natural disasters, and wars almost destroyed the world and wars. The story is set in London. Eric is a perfect agent of L.S.A, genetically engineered to be a hero. He fights and protects the city from Adam, son of a billionaire, who is genius and uses his powers for bad, to take the city from L. S. A. Somehow they end up together, but instead of hating each other, they fall in love. This is how I always imagined, a lot of superhero movies should end (like Batman and Joker, there is definitely some chemistry there:) and Superman and Lex Luther). That was my favorite part of the story. :) It was just perfect. :) It's a classic superhero vs. villain story, with a fun little twist. :) While I like the storyline and characters, especially Adam💜, I had a hard time connecting to the writing style. rating 💜💜💜 cover 💙💙💙💙💙 received from Author series Perfect World #1 genre dystopia, sci-f

Tin by Candace Robinson and Amber R. Duell

Image
Tin got heart, but after Dorothy left, it all went south. His heart hardened again, and he became an assassin. He doesn't care who he kills as long as he gets paid. His next job is different though, he gets to bring Dorothy back to the queen. Along the way Dorothy is living alone on the farm and is considered a town nutcase. No one believed her. And when Tin brings her back, she feels alive for the first time in a long time, but that is gone soon when she sees what has become of her beloved place. She wants to find Lion and Crow, and Tin just wants to do his job. But as they spend more and more time together, things start to shift. I like Wizard of Oz, but this retelling takes it to an entirely new level. One of the best books I've read all year! The story is dark, spooky, and hot. I love it!! Highly recommend it! rating 💜💜💜💜💜 cover 💙💙💙💙💙 received from author series Faeries of Oz#1 genre retelling, romance, fantasy published December 9th, 2020 by Midnight Publishing n
