Kaps by Christina Bauer

Angelbound is one of my all-time favorite books and The Angelbound Offspring is very close behind. :) It's one of those worlds I can get enough. It's very well set up and with each book, we discover more of it. It there was 100 more books in the series, I would read them all. :)  Kaps is a dragon shifter princess, has a rock band as a cover & devotes all of her time to killing Audax. She also likes to collect magical relics, to help her kill some vampires. And with that, she gets in a way of shifter mafia. The boss hires Mack to capture her. Mack is a vigilante and has no issues hunting her down until they kiss. :) It's one of those books that you can put down. I read it in one sitting, it's very intense, also one of my all-time fav tropes. :) rating 💜💜💜💜 cover 💙💙 received from Xpresso Book Tours follow the tour here series Angelbound Offspring #5 published June 30th, 2020 by Monster House Books genre fantasy, ya, shapeshifters Goodreads    Amazon   giveaway

Lyrics & Curses by Candace Robinson

The first thing that comes to mind: unique. The story is set in the 80s & it’s executed perfectly. When I read it, I felt like I was transported back in time. :) It’s the start of summer. Lark works at a  Bubble’s Oddities with her best friend. Across the story, in music shop works Auden. When the school was still in, they connected with exchanging the lyrics of the songs (that reminds me so much of high school, I and my best friends use to do that all the time :)) just a few decades after :D) and hooked a few times after. But they are both kin on keeping each other on arm’s length.  It all spices up when two strangers arrive in town, bring with them a whole lot of weird. :) Lark and Auden don’t realize that they are being cursed until it is too late and they trapped in the place in between. With only two weeks to break the curse or they lose their lives forever.  The first half is a bit slower, with a lot of world-building and setting the story, the second part is faster, with uni

Deadly Curious by Cindy Anstey

That was so much fun to read! :) I felt like I was reading Jane Austin's novel, but instead, the lead is solving a mystery. :) My favorite thing about the story is the setting, there is something about that time in history, especially if it's set in the English countryside. Sophia's prospects of escaping home via marriage kind of went down the drain when her cousin got murdered. Now she is set on finding a career and she has her eyes set on Bow Street Runners. :) When her cousin writes a letter and asks her to help solve a murder because she is desperate, she jumps at a chance. There is a young policeman on the case and they start to unravel the mystery together. It's such a good book! I flew through the pages and had so much fun reading! :)  rating 💜💜💜💜 cover 💙💙💙💙💙 genre historical romance, ya published June 23rd, 2020 by Swoon Reads number of pages 352 Goodreads  ||  Amazon giveaway a Rafflecopter giveaway synopsis A twisty tale reminiscent of Jane Austen—wi

The Lost Hero by Rick Riordan

Does the mood affect the reading?   For me, it can be the difference between DNFing the book and giving it five stars. I’m always reluctant to rate a book poorly because sometimes I’m not sure if it’s the books fault or mine The way I’m feeling, my mood, what is going on in real life, it affects the way I connect with the story, if it moves me or pulls me in, or if it just leaves me feeling meh. I started Heroes of Olympus series soon after finishing Percy Jackson and the Olympians. I loved Percy (he is still one of my favorite characters) and wanted more. At first, I was so excited to jump in the new series - I liked the first series, how could I not love a new one?  After a few chapters, I remember feeling so disappointed. It was not what I expected, it was different, there was a different vibe to it and there wasn’t even any Percy in it (duh, it was a different series, but I just couldn’t get past that). I finished the first three and had to give up on the series.  Well, recently I

Favorites || Cinderella retellings

Image
One of my favorite genres to read are fairy tale retellings of any kind. I especially like anything to do with Cinderella. I remember my grandma reading it to me when I was very little. It's one of my dearest memories and it reminds me of her, a little bit, every time a read a book that has some elements of her. I made a list of retellings, that stood out the most. Stories that took the original, put an original twist on it & made it even better. 😊 Here are some of my favorites Cinder by Marissa Meyer   It's the book that made me fall in love with the genre.  Slippers and Thieves by Christina Bauer Such a unique take on Cinderella, she is a fairy and a con artist :) The Lady Raven by Rebecca Henry which is the darkest take on the story, I've read so far. Very, very spooky & very good. :) Fated by Kaylin Lee Which I set in a high fantasy world, filled with magic and danger and action.  #TheRealCinderella by Yesenia Vargas it's very similar to the movie I love, A

I was waiting for this book ever since I've read about Declan in Moonlight Rogues series. There is just something about a good villain, that is irresistible, especially if he is not all bad. :)  Declan is trapped in an underground prison by the immortals. He can't escape and can't do much of anything. He started to get dreams of a beautiful woman. When he falls asleep she visits him and they spend all night together.  One day Ileana offers him a chance to be free. In exchange, he has to the underworld bring someone back. Easy peasy. Until he sees, that the person he has to bring back, is the same person he dreamed about for so long.  Constanza is spending time in the underworld with the friends Persephone and Hades, enjoying her freedom and taking a long vacation. Underworld is under attack and will take all of them to save it. The mix of mythologies, taking well-known stories, and making a new blend, really works for this world. With each of the stories, more of a magical

Knee Deep by Karol Ann Hoeffner

I love the setting, there is something magical about New Orleans. :) Camille is a 16 old girl living in New Orleans. She lives with her parents, her father owns and runs the well-known bar. She is a very special kind of girl, all kind of stubborn and sensitive at the same time. :) We follow her story, from panning her birthday party with her friends, being in love, and getting excited for the Mardi Gras and living through Hurricane Katrina and everything that such a disaster plus along. The end is bittersweet, as there is new hope, a chance of fresh start and there is loss and grief and horribleness of letting go. My favorite part of the story was the setting, all love all things, New Orleans, especially if there is a little bit of magic involved. :)  However I had a hard time connecting to the writing, it's very descriptive, slowing down the flow, especially at the start. rating 💜💜💜 cover 💙💙💙 received from author genre romance, suspense published September 25th, 2020 by Rega

I'm a sucker for Cinderella stories & movies. There is just something about this story that pulls me in, no matter the format or setting. I stumble on #TheRealCinderella and I just had to read it. And... I was not disappointed. :) The storyline is very similar to my favorite Cinderella movie: Another Cinderella Story. I was hooked from the start and had to read it in one sitting from first to the last page. It's soooo good.  Ella's father remarried and year after died. She was stuck living with her very demanding stepmother and two popular stepsisters.  Her stepmother told her, that her father didn't leave her any money, so if she wanted to go to college, she had to work for her to earn some of that money she needs. She has to do anything she asks, from endless chores, cooking, and working for her, for free. Any time she even thinks of refusing, the threat of college hangs over her head. Her only friend is the guy she never meets in person. They write to each other

Storm's Clouds by J. W. Golan

I liked it even more than the first one! The story starts soon after there first one ( Storm's Herald ) ended. Lynette is back at school and is doing so well in elemental arts, that she will be though by the princess itself. Baxter is hard at training, trying to fit in with far and Eilron is deep into research.  With dragon sighting across the land, the princess sends them on a mission to figure out what is going on. There was more action in than in the first one, the characters had a chance to grow and stakes were never higher. The world created is so imaginative, well set up and fleshed out. When I read I felt like I was right there with them.  It's an awesome book, reading git reminded me of classical fantasy story I used to love. It's been a long time since I read anything like it! rating 💜💜💜💜 cover 💙💙 received from Author series Stormfall Chronicles #2 genre high fantasy, ya. fae published December 19th, 2019 number of pages 407 Goodreads || Amazon happy reading,

Author Interview: Brandy Woods Snow

You know that feeling when you read an amazing book and keep on thinking about it in weeks to come? I can't get As Much As I Ever Could out of my head ever since I've read. It's one of those books that make you feel all the things and story has such a beautiful message.  I was so excited to interview the author and very happy that she took the time for it. :) First of all, I want to say how much I loved reading As Much As I Ever Could. It made me feel all the feels and cry and laugh. It’s just so good. :) Aw, thank you so much! That means so much to me. I literally feel like I fall in love with my characters as I write, so I’m so happy to hear when readers love them too!   It’s the kind of book that touched your heart. How did you get inspiration for the story? The inspiration actually came from two songs I’d been listening to—Drive by Incubus and Drive by The Cars—and the idea of dealing with the concept of fear and how it can seriously “steal” from your life. It al

Unique by Starr Z. Davies

I thought the first book was intense, but in Unique the dial is turned to max. :) The story picks up right where Ordinary  left off. His group, well what is left of it, was saved and taken to a safe place. On the surface, it seems like the perfect place for them to, but something just isn't as it should be. The more he digs up, the more shocking truth is revealed, about him, Paragon, Directorate, and what is really going on. It's non stop action, from the start till the end. I feel like I didn't even blink till the last page. The setting, the storyline, the characters, it's all soo good and brilliantly executed.  Just so awesome & I'm looking forward to binge read the series. :) rating 💜💜💜💜 💜 cover 💙💙💙 received from Author series Ordinary #2 genre sci-fi, dystopia, YA number of pages 426 published June 2nd, 2020 by Pangea Books Goodreads || Amazon happy reading, anie Follow @anie_1027
