Provoke You by Diana A. Hicks

Ela doesn't have the best track record. She has trouble with alcohol before, but not she is one year clean & wants to prove to her step-father that she is getting better. But years of bad behavior are hard to erase and when he doesn't show, it pushed her back to drinking and into Matt. When she wakes up the next day in his place, it takes a long time to piece together what happened. And it only gets worse, because they are stuck together on the day Matt has the biggest interview with her dad & she finds out he is selling the hotel, she thinks as hers.  Now they have 30 days, to prove that the hotel is hers and for Matt to keep her out of town.  My favorite thing about the story is their dynamics and dialogs. :) They fit well together.   It took me a while to really get into it, but after the first few chapters, I was all in. :)  It's the kind of story, that you can read in one swoop, because it's hard to stop reading, and have a lot of fun wh

Wishes, She Roars by Angela Kulig and Angela Sanders

One of my favorite books to read are retellings of any kind. I'm a big fan of fairytales and taking a well-known story and putting it in a new setting makes it so much better. :) Wishes, She Roars is the retelling of Aladdin's story, as told by the princess Cyra. She lost her parent and her grandfather took over the crown again. She keeps on turning away suitors away, not one keeps her interest until she runs into a boy in a dark alley.  She is not just a princess, her mother passed on a gift, that allows her to esape the castle at any chance.  I liked reading it very much, my favorite thing about it was the princess. I love the way she doesn't take any crap from anyone. She stands up for herself and what she wants. :) rating 💚💚💚💚 cover 💛💛💛 received from Silver Dagger Book Tours follow the tour here genre ya, fantasy, fairytale retelling published November 1st, 2019 by Green Envy Press Goodreads   Amazon giveaway a Raff

BookLove: Short Stories

Image
There are many great things about being the book blogger, getting to read books before they come out is one I am the most grateful for, the other is getting to read a vast amount of very different books, books I would have never picked out myself, and I would be missing out. :)  Like horror, romance. manga and as of recent short stories and novellas.  I was so fascinated when I read my first collection. Before I was convinced that short stories are just novel, but abridged. Not at all. It's a totally different way to tell a story. And I'm a big fan of stories, any kind. :) here are some of my favorite Short Stories in different genres sci-fi   Net 2.3   Collection of four short stories, all very different, all very, very good.  horror  Chill & Creeps  My favorite kind of scary story is the kind, where scary stuff trickles slowly through the story until you are afraid to leave the room. :) That the style stories of Chill & Creeps are written in. Rhodes by Christina Bauer

Rhodes is the next one in the Angelbound Offspring series. The series is set in the same universe as the Angelbound (my all-time favorite), but follow an entirely different set of characters. We met Zinnia and Rhodes in the last book, where she was saved from evil, that kidnaped her when she was little. They are finally together. But there is still about keeping them apart. She is locked in the tower, for her protection, and he is at training. Their parents still haven't approved of their union, so she is up to be courted by anyone. Including the man that kidnapped her.  They go to Earth to draw the evil out and it doesn't get any easier for them. The ending is so nice. :)  I love returning to the same world. The world the author created is so big, well thought out and very, very unique. I love it! Also the writing, I haven't read a book by this author that I didn't love. It's addicting, snarky, very intense and funny at the same time. :) Also, it got me ve

Irrelevant by Sarah Addison - Fox

This book is addicting. From the first page, I was hooked. The story pulled me in and didn't let go till the last page. It's been a loong time since I've read a great dystopian book & this one is top-notch! Relevant people are allowed to live in the city, protected from the sun with UV shield, with all the medicine they could ever use, safe and protected. At the age of 18, each citizen is tested, to determine the level of relevance. In the worst case, they are deemed irrelevant and cast out never to be seen again. Mallory should worry about her testing. Her father is a 10 and her mother is a 9. But she was always different and testing prove it. As she is cast out, Cristan is there to take her to the Irrevalent's home. She is shaken up to the core and keeps on getting sicker. There is something about her that makes her different. Not everyone likes it.  On every turn there are more questions then answers, about the government, who they are and what is

My first Rainbow Rowell & I'm in love. :) So both Beth and Jennifer work as journalists for a big company and write emails to each other about their day, life, daily struggles, just friends' stuff. Only it's against company policy. They even have a guy hired to monitor that. Enter Lincoln. Lincoln is a brilliant computer guy who foolishly applied to the job, thinking it will involve cool hacking and building firewalls and now he spends his day snooping in other people's emails and getting paid for it. And then he comes across emails from Beth and Jennifer. Instead of reporting them, he reads on. And more he reads, more involved he becomes, slowly falling for one of them. It's a cute story, told in a very interesting way. I enjoyed reading it very, very much, I was smiling throughout the entire book. It's the kind of story that just makes you happy. :) (By every email there is a date stamp, but I glanced over that every time. So by about half of the b

Kara is a painter. Anyone who meets her thinks she is just that. In reality, she has magic. She went to the renown Academy to train. Then something horrible happened, that turned her away from magic. She never even use it, until a party one day, when she tried to help a girl fighting demons. She did more bad than good, but it was a great meet-cute. :) It all seems well, but then the past comes back to haunt her. I love magic in the book, especially the way it fits into the world created. I like the plotline of the book, and the way the story was told - multiple perspectives really worked for the story, creating tension. :) However, the writing style wasn't my favorite, I had a hard time getting into it. rating 💚💚💚 cover 💛💛💛💛💛 received from Author genre paranormal, magic, romance number of pages 168 published December 5th, 2019 Goodreads Amazon happy reading, anie Follow @anie_1027

Reading Diary #0.2

Image
Another week, more books to read. :) I'm in such a reading mood & I'm trying to read as much as I can to catch up for a suckie reading year, also because I have some awesome books to read. :D, so I'm trying to read all the books, to catch up. Monday I woke up too early again, instead of going back to sleep, I read a bit. I wanted to finish Stolen Princess . I was surprised by how much I enjoyed reading it. it was so ... unexpected. I can usually predict how the story will go, but with this one, if I was sure that something will happen, the opposite did. I liked that a lot. Tuesday I got a bit of late start today. I started reading Calico Thunder Rides Again in the late afternoon. At first, it was a bit hard to get into it, but I was soon sucked in by circus life. I haven't read a book that is set in one. It's the best thing about books, despite having fun while reading, being sucked in and all that... You get to experience so many different worl

Dead Meat: Day 3 by Nick Clausen

Image
The story picks up right after Day 2- A hospital worker hears a noise in the basement and discovers zombies. Quickly realizing what they are, he takes off. The lady who got scratched by the cat and the guy attack school bus, only two made it off and one girl survives. Dan took a well-deserved sleep but has a nagging feeling he forgot about something. Zombies are popping up left and right and there seems to be no hope left. The entire city is infected and the government doesn't seem to be doing much. I can't wait to see what will happen the next day. :) The intensity and pace increase with each book and I'm so happy that there is going to be more day coming up. It's such an intense series, that keeps you on the edge of your seat throughout the entire book. rating 💚💚💚💚💚 cover 💛💛💛💛💛 received from Author series Dead Meat #3 genre paranormal, zombies published December 8th, 2019 Goodreads Amazon happy reading, anie    Follow

The Book Of Wizer by Daniel Boshoff

Image
The story is set in a high fantasy world The Pearl King is running out money. He is turning to neighboring tribes, to steal their lands. So he hires Jennekai to kidnap their princess. He plans to extort with her. But when instead of payment, he almost get killed, he has to make a new plan. What was not in the plan was falling in love with her. The Book of Wizar is a very complex story. There are plots and magical artifacts, and epic journeys.   My favorite characters is Jennekai, he is very flawed, but there is something about him, you just have to like him.  I like the world created, it is well thought out, my only complaint is that the writing is very dense at times, stalling the flow a bit. rating 💚💚💚💚 cover 💛💛💛💛 received from Author series The Book Of Wizar: The Chronicles of Elleran: Book 1 genre fantasy number of pages 434 published September 12th, 2019 Goodreads Amazon happy reading, anie @anie_1027

Slippers and Thieves by Christina Bauer

If there is such a thing as a perfect Cinderella story, this might just be the book. :) Elle is no pushover Cinderella. With everything that life throws her way, she gets up, finds a way and fights on. She is warder of the fae, fairy without wings, a jewel thief and one hell of a character. :)  Three years ago, when she was just 15 years old, her mother started to get very sick. Knowing her life will follow the Cinderella template, she knows what comes next. Her mother will die and she will get an evil stepmother. But she is not a bystander. To make money, so she will have the means to escape, she retrieves stolen properties and returns them for a reward. It is an easy way to be independent, especially with her special little helpers.  Now she is 18. She and Alex are getting closer but, but she is not ready to open her heart and it's like the entire world is against them. There is an evil plot to keep them far apart and will take everything they have, to win.  It

Sophie comes from a rich home. Her mother and stepfather are very rich and she is a socialite. One thing she doesn't have is a father. She longed to know him, so when he contacts her and her mysterious medallion to keep safe, she is over the moon. Now that he wants it back, she is supposed to send it back, but Sophie wants to meet her father, so she decides to deliver the medallion in person and flies to Key West. What was supposed to be a happy reunion, turns into a life or death situation pretty soon. She has to stay with Jimmy Panama if she wants to survive and meet her father, but he is a hard person to like. I like the idea behind the story very much. The majority of it reads like watching a very good detective movie. However, I had a very hard time staying focused on the story, especially in the middle part. rating 💚💚💚 cover 💛💛 series Key West Escape #1 genre romance, mystery published July 18th, 2017 by Ink Moster Books, LLC Goodreads Amazon
