Rating: 💚 💚 💚 💚 Author: Susan Kaye Quinn Title: Open Minds Series: Mindjack Series #1 Published: October 2011 Number of pages: 338 Goodreads link:   Open Minds Genre: ya, paranormal, dystopia, science fiction, fiction, fantasy Well, this was definitely a roller coaster. At the beginning I though, that this is going to be one of those book where special girl falls in love with biggest idiot in the book and does stupid this because... love I guess. I could not be more wrong. I mean I was so surprised, when I saw that the book was only 338 pages long, it felt like it was at least 500. Don't get me wrong, it wasn't because it was boring or it dragged on or anything like that, because it definitely didn't and wasn't. It was just so action packed, so much happened, so many different scenes... just amazing how that much story can be packed on so little pages.  I love the evolution of the story. It start with teenage girl, that is different than everyone e

Rating:  💚 💚 💚 💚 💚 Author: Christopher Paolini Title: Eragon Series: The Inheritance Cycle #1 Number of pages: 503 Published: June 2002 Goodreads link:   Eragon Genre: fantasy, fiction, ya, adventure, dragons, magic I can't believe I haven't review this one yet. It is one of my all time favourites. It takes place in beautiful, but harsh world, full of magical creatures and all sorts of magic. It is high fantasy adventure book, that has stuck with me since I first read it. We follow the journey of Eragon, regular boy, living with his uncle and cousin, working on fields and hunting. He is quite average, until he stumbles on an egg one day. He takes care of it, until the dragon hatch. It turns out he is the last dragon rider in this world and he is the only one able to save nation against evil. The part for me is the magical system in it. It is elaborate and well done. It features a lot of different magical creatures and different kind of magic: elves (yeeey

Snyder Title: Touch of Power Series: Healer #1 Number of pages: 390 Published: December 2011 Goodreads link:  Touch of Power   Genre: high fantasy, magic, ya, fantasy, fiction,  romance I seriously love every book I have ever read from this author. Poison study is one of my all time favourite books and Touch of Power is not far behind.  It is high fantasy novel, about a world where healers are hunted and killed, because they are held responsible, because people believe they started the plague, that ripped that place apart.  Avry is hiding away, from town to town, trying to stay alive, but she can't help herself when someone needs her, she heals. That how she is captured, sentenced to die. She is saved by Kerrick and his friends, because he need her to heal someone. That's where things get complicated. Rating:  💚 💚 💚 💚 Author: G. P. Ching Title: The Soulkeepers Series: The Soulkeepers #1 Number of pages: 308 Published: June 2011 Genre: fantasy, urban fantasy, paranormal, angels, romance, mystery, ya Goodreads link:   The Soulkeepers Reading this book, was a bit of a roller coaster for me. I loved it at times and was also a bit lost and bored at times. But in the end it turned out it was quite good. I'm a bit inpatient when I'm really into story, so the pace was slow at certain parts of the book, but it was necessary, I suppose. The bad stuff is also good in a way- the was time to develop characters and to build relationships, to discover the world.  I really like the character of Jacob. He is strong, stubborn and has a bit of a attitude- love that. I also the mythology. It is so well thought out and written, it feels real. It was certainly different take on angels. :) Also, I love that the book was diverse, and most importantly. diversity was done well. T

💚  💚  💚  💚  💚 Author: Kristen Simmons  Title: The Glass Arrow Series: Standalone (😲) Number of pages: 343 Published: February 2015 Genre: dystopia, young adult, science fiction, fantasy, fiction Goodreads link:  The Glass Arrow   In short: it is dystopia, put in futute, where after the great war woman are left without rights, sold and traded like merchandise. The story follows Aya, who lives in mountain free, but is eventually captured and put in one of the homes, that prep girls, before the are sold to men. She never stops fighting, trying to escape always. never gives up. We follow her journey to freedom I love that she is smart about it, she think beforehand and she is prepared. Also, she doesn't have special powers, she doesn't save the world, just her little part of it. and most importantly no insta-love and no love triangle. It is one of the most unique stories. I love that it is stand alone, but at the same time I would love to read more about that

The Institute by Kayla Howarth

💚  💚  💚  💚  Author: Kayla Howarth Title: The Institute Series: The Institute #1 Number of pages: 280 Published: January 2015 Goodreads link:   The institute    Well, is one of those book that surprise you. I went into this with low expectations, I was rolling my eyes first few chapters, thinking it is going to be one of those insta-love-the-biggest-idiot-in-the-book kind of story. But it is not. It is actually quite amazingly written, towards the end I could not tear my eyes from the page. It is dystopian story of the world after. There was some kind of disease that wipe out a lot humanity, after that countries set up ban on travelling outside of their own country. The island country, where the story take place, invented the vaccine that cure that. In fear of another epidemic, ban is still up. Strange thing started to happen after that, some people got special powers. Some could not control them and accidents happen. Now these people, defective, a

#5 hottest guys in YA books

Image
It's been a while since I have done #5 favourites. Today I am doing one that I'm really excited about. Even though I don't usually like to read romance novels, I do like if there a bit of romance in fantasy or fiction books. These are my 5 favourite guys in books. 1. Edward  The ultimate hot guy and my first book crush :). He is really modern day vampire Mr. Darcy. I love that he is protective, strong and practically invisible. Mind reading and sparkling is cool too. :) He is also really close to his family. Even though he has few faults, he is still amazing.   Twilight 2. Nicolas OMG this guy is so cool. He is sooo bad-ass. Nicolas is immortal Mohiri worrier. He is kind of half demon, who spends his day hunting and killing vampires. He is really strong willed and charismatic. And I love the relationship they have with Sara (always butting heads) Relentless 3. Wolf He is my favourite male character in Lunar chronicles. He is strong and loyal, al

Relentless by Karen Lynch

💚 💚 💚 💚 💚 Author: Karen Lynch  Title: Relentless Series: Relentless #1 Number of pages: 288 Published: December 2013 Goodreads link:   Relentless Re-read (I re-read at least 5 times, it is just amazing.. 😊) It is one of my all time favourites, perfect blend of magic, magical creatures, urban fantasy-ish setting and amazing characters. Why is it so hard to review the books you love the most ? Anyway... these are thing I love about Relentless: Sara . She is one of the strongest lead characters. She has big heart, is stubborn to a fault and hold her ground against... well everyone. She doesn't let anyone tell her how to live and what to do, her friends are from strangest palaces and her powers are amazing. She is not without her faults either, she makes many mistakes, but she hold herself accountable for them later Nicolas. Warrior. He is really amazing character, strong, powerful, unstoppable and will do anything to protect Sara. Also... he is HOT

Night Shift by B. R. Myers

💚 💚 💚 💚 💚 Author: B.R. Myers Title: Night Shift Series: Night Shift Series #1 Number of pages: 326 Published: October 2013 Received from NetGalley Wow, this book really blew me away. I had a bit of bad luck lately with ARC's from NetGalley, well this one made up for all the bad ones. I was in constant suspense from page one. It definitely wasn't predictable. I was constantly surprised by the turns of the events. And the ending.... it was PERFECT. It is a story of  Daniel Gale ,  who decided to leave school and travel the world, looking for a lost memory. With parents both gone, he is a bit lost, looking for a home. Last place on his list is Willard's store in New York where he takes job as a Night Guard. On his job interview, the boss asks him if he believes in ghost, and he said no.  On his first night he hears some things and fall into empty elevator shaft, only to be saved by someone who should not be there. It is a beautiful girl, Mary an

Stolen Songbird by Danielle L. Jensen

💚 💚 💚 💚 💚 Author: Danielle L. Jensen Title: Stolen Songbird Series: The Malediction Trilogy #1 Number of pages: 469 Published: April 2014 Goodreads link:  Stolen Songbird This is how the book should be written. It is without a doubt best book I have read this year. It is utterly amazing, so mesmerising and un-put-downable. I mean, it is just perfect. I love the politics, magical system that was utterly unique, romance, because it took time to develop, and Cecil and Tristan of course. They were just amazing characters, flawed- absolutely not perfect, just great enough to make them love you. Cecil . I love the her strength, she didn't rolled over when she was forced to be in the impossible situation, she grew stronger, gained knowledge, that she never dreamed off and fell in love on her own terms. Tristan. Even though I disliked him at first, he grew into one of my favourite male characters. He is scheming, strong with good hearth. And willing to sac

Evolution by Kelly Carrero

💚 💚 💚 Author: Kelly Carrero Title: Evolution Series: Evolution #2 Pages: 146 Published: April 2012 Goodreads link:  Evolution I had to restart it few times. It was a bit far fetched from the get go. Once I was past first few chapters I could not put it down. It is one of those guilty pleasure books (like Selection), where you know, the book is not amazing at all, but you just have to read it anyway.  Story starts when Jade (our main character) saw her scars healing before her eyes in the hospital. Her life changes completely after that. She goes from normal high school girl, with hottest boyfriend, to finding out she is special and that the are a lot people like her, including her boyfriend Aiden. This is where the main problem with book is. The beginning, or lack of it. The story start where Aiden and Jade have been together for a while, having established relationship. I would love the book a lot more, if started where they meet, grow their bond, seeing that, rath

💚 💚💚💚💚    Author: Lesley Livingston Title: Wondrous Strange Series: Wondrous Strange #1 Number of Pages: 327 Published: January 2009 Goodreads link:   Wondrous Strange I stumbled on this book as part of my 2017 TBR clean up, and I almost pass this book, after I read few less than stellar reviews.  I am so happy I ignore that. (Maybe the deciding vote was the cover ... who knows  😁) Anyhow, this book is just sooooo pretty. I absolutely love fearies, eventhough the stories about it don't come close to Shakespeare's version, I still loved this book. It just such a beautiful story.  Book follows young actress  Kelley Winslow, who finally gets a chance at a lead role in a play. She plays queen Tatiana in Midsummer Night's Dream. She meets hot stranger one night, named Sonny (a bit unfortunate name...)  and her life is turned upside down, she find out that the play she is playing is not so far from the truth. Ahh, just so pretty. Favourite part
