The Secret Book Club by Shauna Robinson

Image
I love the storyline! It has all of the elements of a great book! Maggie runs a bookshop in a place with strict rules about what she can or can't sell. But rules are made to be broken, and what is better than a secret book club? But tan she discovers a secret.  It's the kind of book you can't put down. And the romance is so good! It's so good, highly recommend it to all book lovers! rating❤❤❤ cover❤❤❤❤ ❤ Goodreads || Amazon happy reading, anie

Welcome to the Cornish Country Hospital by Jo Bartlett

Image
Danni hopes to have a fresh start when she moves. She needs to get over a guy she loves because he is engaged to her best friend. That didn't last long when they decided to come along and work with her in the same hospital. She needs to figure out what is more important to her, friendship or the growing attraction. I like the storyline and the backdrop of the hospital made it all that more exciting. But for some reason, I just couldn't get into the story. Maybe it wasn't a good fit for me. rating❤❤❤ cover❤❤❤ Goodreads || Amazon happy reading, anie

Snow Days With You by Leonie Mack

Image
Luna is driving in a snowy wonderland, with a car that wasn't made for mountain driving, to discover who left the generous inheritance, when she runs out of flue close to her destination, she is saved by a knight in shining armour.  I was hooked right from the start and couldn't put it down! It's cute and romantic and pulls at all of your feelings.  It's the kind of story that touches your heart and transports you into a winter wonderland at the same time, the romance is quite something too. :) Highly recommend it! rating❤❤❤ ❤ cover❤❤❤❤ Goodreads || Amazon happy reading, anie

Ruined by Sarah Vaughn

Image
Ruined is a Regency-era graphic novel. It follows Catherine and Andrew. Catherine has turned away every suitor, but this year after a scandal, her father made arrangements to marry her off to Andrew Davaner. He desperately needs the money and she needs a husband to shut off the rumours.  It was just supposed to be a marriage of convenience, but as they got to know each other, the sparks flew between them.  It's a slow-burn romance, but a good one. I like the story very much, but didn't like the artwork all that much. rating ❤ ❤ ❤ cover  ❤ ❤ ❤ art  ❤ ❤ ❤ Goodreads || Amazon happy reading, anie

The Faking Game by Portia MacIntosh

Image
Cara and Millsy have been a couple for the last three years. But when he moved overseas for six weeks to work on his new movie, they broke up. Problem? They haven't told anyone and with holidays coming up, they decide to keep it a secret and pretend all is well. Then he comes back with a dialect coach who seems to be glued at his sides and he keeps on insisting that she moves on. So Cara downloads the dating app and gets on one horrible date after another. It's hard to get over someone if you are pretending to be in love most of the time. This started out well, but by the last third, I was just confused by who I was supposed to be rooting for. I didn't feel a connection to any of the characters rating ❤ ❤ ❤ cover  ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤ Goodreads || Amazon happy reading, anie

Match Me If You Can by Sandy Barker

Image
Such a cute story, it even has a big romantic gesture... :)  Poppy loves romance and all about it. She is a psychologist and works in an elite matchmaking agency. She spends her day finding the perfect person for everyone. But her latest case could be just the toughest.  Tristan has to marry before his 35th birthday if he wants to receive the huge inheritance his grandfather set up for him. The only problem is, firstly there is very little time to get to know anyone, secondly, he would be happy to stay a bachelor forever and third he is not the most likable person. :) Poppy tries very hard to find him a suitable match, but there seems to be one problem after another. The biggest of them is not to fall for him herself. :) Adorable story! Highly recommend it to rom-com fans. :) rating ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤ cover  ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤ Goodreads || Amazon happy reading, anie

You Can Have My Back, Vol. 1 by Minami Kotsuna

Image
I was very excited to read the book, the premise sounds great and it has all of the elements I love: political intrigue, fantasy set-up, and reincarnation love story. But the execution itself wasn't that good. Instead story opening the door to a new world, it sets up the future stories, while not standing on its own. I felt like was reading a sequence of events, but without an actual plot. It was quite confusing, especially at the start and had trouble staying focused. The age gap was a bit much too. rating ❤ ❤ ❤ cover  ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤ Goodreads || Amazon happy reading, anie

Confessions of a Dangerous Girl by Dan Birk

Image
One of my favourites this year! I loved reading it! Emma has spent most of her life in a boarding school, that is supposed to be for child psychopaths, but it's actually an undercover CIA training facility. They are supposed to help kids like Emma to become better people, but in reality, they are training them to be assassins. Emma's latest mission takes her back home when she has to go undercover at a local high school and pose as a normal student. She needs to get into Model UN, so she will have access to her target. But something like that is much harder for Emma than anticipated. She never made real friends and her first attempt failed miserably. To get into the club, she convinces the best student, to help her become a better person, while she will help her get a guy she likes. Slowly but surely, Emma changes. She learns how to make actual friends and starts to do good, but the mission should always come first. The story is told from Emma's POV, so you really get into

The Summer Hikaru Died, Vol. 1 by Mokumokuren, Ajani Oloye (translator)

Image
It is on the weird side, but that makes it interesting. The artwork is awesome too! Yoshiki's best friend disappeared into the mountains six months ago. Someone (or something) that looked like him, behaved like him and had the same memories come back. But it isn't the same Hikaru. That doesn't stop Yoshiki from being pulled towards him. It took a bit of time for me to get oriented to what was happening. The start is all over the place and I couldn't figure out who was who and what was going on. But once I got sucked in, I couldn't stop reading. And those last few chapters were so intense, I can't wait to read what happens next. :) rating ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤ cover  ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤ Goodreads || Amazon happy reading, anie

When We Were Friends by Samantha Tonge

Image
Four girls were childhood friends. They had a club of sorts, a secret society, where they used their unique gifts to solve problems for whoever needed help. On the night of the prom, it all went horribly wrong and their friendship ended abruptly and for good.  Now 19 years later, Morgan has a teenage son, who keeps asking about his father. Morgan decides to get her friends back and ask them for help searching for her son's father. As adults, they meet again, but the pain of betrayal still feels fresh. They manage to put their differences aside to help Morgan, but it all blows up epically.  Again. This was so good! I found myself totally immersed in the story and couldn't stop reading. They are all full of faults, but that doesn't stop you from rooting for them. Highly recommend it! rating ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤ cover  ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤ Goodreads || Amazon happy reading, anie

Ghosted by Sarah Ready

Jilian works for an online magazine as a relationship/dating expert. But she can't even talk to a guy face to face. Her advices are not based on real life and she is about to lose her job. She has just moved to a tiny, a little bit creepy apartment in NYC, but there is someone already living there. Daniel doesn't remember much from before. He is good-looking, always shirtless, and also a ghost. She is also the only guy Jilian can talk to. He starts to help her with her love life in hopes that he could move on, but with that much time spent together and all of the attention he gives her, she starts to fall for him. I like Jilian's personality, her geekiness and that she always wants to follow her heart. Daniel is the complete opposite of her, he has a very realistic view of life, especially of dating. They are complete opposites, but that is what makes them work together so well. I love the first half of the book. It's such an interesting premise, but I kind of lost int

Best Frenemies by Max Monroe

Image
Mack and Katy are both teachers at the same school in NY. Mack teaches music and his class is often very loud, while Katy tries to teach math. But they don't get along. Mack is very easygoing and loved by everyone. Katy has a huge problem with that and is very uptight. On long awaited getaways they get stuck together in the same place. Being that close together means they get closer, especially after Katy gets injured and he takes care of her. It gets hot and steamy fast, but Katy has no idea what she wants. She foes between wanting him and totally ignoring him all of the time. I like the enemies-to-lovers narrative and the forced proximity of just one holiday condo. It was a funny and entertaining story to listen to. Unfortunately, I didn't like it as much as I thought I would. I didn't like the narration and had trouble staying focused on the story, especially with the male parts. The story also felt very immature, and it would be nice if the characters had more depth or

A Curse of Blood and Wolves by Melissa McTernan

Image
A Curse of Blood and Wolves is a paranormal retelling of Little Red Riding Hood. Ruby works at a bar and walks home through the woods every night. She feels eyes on her almost every time and once she confronts the stranger following her. But she doesn't fear when she sees him. Rafe is a werewolf, living alone, away from his pack. He keeps following Ruby trying to keep her safe, cause he feels drawn to her. I love the premise of the story, it's a fun take on the fairytale, and I like the paranormal aspect. The writing is very easy to get into and read, the story really comes alive before your eyes and the characters feel real. But where I had trouble was the storyline, I just couldn't get into it., I kept putting it down. rating ❤ ❤ ❤ cover  ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤ Goodreads || Amazon happy reading, anie

Frenemies with Benefits by Lydia Sharp

Image
This is just the cutest story! It's the end of the high school. For Jess that means working, trying to figure out what she wants to do with her life and hanging with her brother, who is coming home from college for a month. He is also bringing a friend that she has the biggest crush on. But the problem is, that she can barely talk to a guy, let alone do anything else. She needs someone to practice on and the perfect guy, for no strings attached, just lost of naked time is Ben. Ben and Jess are the only single ones in their friend group ( well Ben has a lot of girlfriends, just not for a long time), but they can't even be considered friends. They constantly argue and pick on each other. She is sure that she can separate the physical and emotional. The more time they spend together, she gets to know a whole other Ben, who is kind of nerdy and doesn't have the best family and starts to fall for him. But her brother's friend is coming and they had a deal... An enemies with

Brooks was a very young dad and has worked very hard since then to prove himself. He finished school and build one of the most successful gyms in Manhattan. No way is he changing his rules for a flashy newcomer. Izzy is a fitness influencer, in New York to promote her new book. And he is one of her stops. Only he doesn't like her from the very start. It starts as hate but slowly sparks fly and it grows into something more. I liked the story and wanted to love the story, but I found the FMC very unlikeable. I couldn't get into the book or find something to really pull me in. rating❤❤❤ cover ❤❤❤ Goodreads || Amazon happy reading, anie

Coco is a figure skater. She is working at the ring to finance her training for the next Olympics. One day, the father of one of the kids she is teaching doesn't show up. When she figures out that he is in the same building, she goes looking for him and ends up in a hospital with a puck in her head. Turn out that the father is famous hockey player Logan Rivers. They have insane chemistry between them. She is trying very hard not to fall for him, but Logan has no such troubles. :) It's funny, it's romantic and full of swoon-worthy moments, but for me, there was something missing. rating ★★★ cover ★★ ★ ★ ★ series St. Pete Slashers #1 genre romance, sports romance, contemporary, adult, NetGalley published June 17, 2023 number of pages 224 Goodreads || Amazon happy reading, anie got it on Netgalley
