Shout Out To My Ex by Sandy Barker (Ever After Agency #2)

Image
Elle is a fashion designer, who puts all of her energy into her work. She still isn't over Leo, her first love who mysteriously fell off the face of the Earth. Her sister (and business partner) secretly contacts the dating agency, in hopes that they find him, and that Elle and him will have a second chance. Well they find him, he goes by a different name and is a celebrated shoe designer. And a completely different person, than the guy she was in love with. Their first meet doesn't go well and it's only downhill from there on. They cross paths all of the time, and the more they do, the more she starts to notice the glimpses of the guy she used to love. It's a very funny enemies-to-lovers romance, set in the most beautiful city. :) ❤ ❤ ❤ book info series Ever After Agency #2 Published February 14th, 2024 number of pages 370 GoodReads Amazon happy reading, anie

Her ex-boyfriend announced a proposal a very short time after their breakup and she is devastated. To help her save face, Roland proposes to her, in front of the ex and his kids. The proposal even though is fake, opened the door to a lot of feelings that they both kept hidden. But dating a boss is a tricky thing, especially when the kids are involved. Then he hits on her and tries to convince her sister that it was all her. The wedding gets canceled and they turn it into a big party instead. Her sister convinces her to go on what was supposed to be her honeymoon alone, as a chance to do something new and get out of the rut she has been in ever since she canceled her wedding years before. The trip doesn't start all that well at first, but soon the Greek island starts to work its magic on her, and she falls for it and the single father living there. The life there is much different from what she has been living and the change doesn't feel so bad at all. She has her freedom, has fun, and learns to enjoy her life again. The Fallback by Eleanor Goyner

Image
They have been best friends since college. She came to town to work in the lab and she needed a place to stay. He needed a roommate fast. The first time they met, they instantly clicked together and have been best friends and secretly in love with each other since then. He has a very unrealistic view of dating and is always with someone, but it never works out. She gave up on dating altogether. Then he comes up with a crazy idea. They both have to make an effort to date and if they don't find anyone by the time of the Christmas office party, they will get a family together. The change shakes up their relationship at its core. The more they look around the more obvious it becomes that what they are looking at is at their noses. But the path from best friends to HEA is anything but straightforward. I liked the characters, the storyline (it's one of my favorite tropes), and the ending... but I had the hardest time connecting to the writing. ❤ ❤ ❤ book info Published April 11, 2024

They find themselves spending a lot more time together, they they wanted, and soon sparks start to fly. Danni hopes to have a fresh start when she moves. She needs to get over a guy she loves because he is engaged to her best friend. That didn't last long when they decided to come along and work with her in the same hospital. She needs to figure out what is more important to her, friendship or the growing attraction. I like the storyline and the backdrop of the hospital made it all that more exciting. But for some reason, I just couldn't get into the story. Maybe it wasn't a good fit for me. rating❤❤❤ cover❤❤❤ Goodreads || Amazon happy reading, anie

Cara and Millsy have been a couple for the last three years. But when he moved overseas for six weeks to work on his new movie, they broke up. Problem? They haven't told anyone and with holidays coming up, they decide to keep it a secret and pretend all is well. Then he comes back with a dialect coach who seems to be glued at his sides and he keeps on insisting that she moves on. So Cara downloads the dating app and gets on one horrible date after another. It's hard to get over someone if you are pretending to be in love most of the time. This started out well, but by the last third, I was just confused by who I was supposed to be rooting for. I didn't feel a connection to any of the characters rating ❤ ❤ ❤ cover  ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤ Goodreads || Amazon happy reading, anie

Match Me If You Can by Sandy Barker

Image
Such a cute story, it even has a big romantic gesture... :)  Poppy loves romance and all about it. She is a psychologist and works in an elite matchmaking agency. She spends her day finding the perfect person for everyone. But her latest case could be just the toughest.  Tristan has to marry before his 35th birthday if he wants to receive the huge inheritance his grandfather set up for him. The only problem is, firstly there is very little time to get to know anyone, secondly, he would be happy to stay a bachelor forever and third he is not the most likable person. :) Poppy tries very hard to find him a suitable match, but there seems to be one problem after another. The biggest of them is not to fall for him herself. :) Adorable story! Highly recommend it to rom-com fans. :) rating ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤ cover  ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤ Goodreads || Amazon happy reading, anie

Confessions of a Dangerous Girl by Dan Birk

Image
One of my favourites this year! I loved reading it! Emma has spent most of her life in a boarding school, that is supposed to be for child psychopaths, but it's actually an undercover CIA training facility. They are supposed to help kids like Emma to become better people, but in reality, they are training them to be assassins. Emma's latest mission takes her back home when she has to go undercover at a local high school and pose as a normal student. She needs to get into Model UN, so she will have access to her target. But something like that is much harder for Emma than anticipated. She never made real friends and her first attempt failed miserably. To get into the club, she convinces the best student, to help her become a better person, while she will help her get a guy she likes. Slowly but surely, Emma changes. She learns how to make actual friends and starts to do good, but the mission should always come first. The story is told from Emma's POV, so you really get into

When We Were Friends by Samantha Tonge

Four girls were childhood friends. They had a club of sorts, a secret society, where they used their unique gifts to solve problems for whoever needed help. On the night of the prom, it all went horribly wrong and their friendship ended abruptly and for good.  Now 19 years later, Morgan has a teenage son, who keeps asking about his father. Morgan decides to get her friends back and ask them for help searching for her son's father. As adults, they meet again, but the pain of betrayal still feels fresh. They manage to put their differences aside to help Morgan, but it all blows up epically.  Again. This was so good! I found myself totally immersed in the story and couldn't stop reading. They are all full of faults, but that doesn't stop you from rooting for them. Highly recommend it! rating ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤ cover  ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤ Goodreads || Amazon happy reading, anie

Best Frenemies by Max Monroe

Image
Mack and Katy are both teachers at the same school in NY. Mack teaches music and his class is often very loud, while Katy tries to teach math. But they don't get along. Mack is very easygoing and loved by everyone. Katy has a huge problem with that and is very uptight. On long awaited getaways they get stuck together in the same place. Being that close together means they get closer, especially after Katy gets injured and he takes care of her. It gets hot and steamy fast, but Katy has no idea what she wants. She foes between wanting him and totally ignoring him all of the time. I like the enemies-to-lovers narrative and the forced proximity of just one holiday condo. It was a funny and entertaining story to listen to. Unfortunately, I didn't like it as much as I thought I would. I didn't like the narration and had trouble staying focused on the story, especially with the male parts. The story also felt very immature, and it would be nice if the characters had more depth or

Girl in Translation by Jean Kwok

Kim and her mom arrived in NY in search of a better life, with the help of her mom's older sister. She got them an unlivable apartment, without heating in cold NY winters, with broken windows and no furniture. She made them both work at a sweatshop for very, very little money and then she took most of it. Kim had to go to school in a new country, barely knowing the language and not knowing the culture. She stuck out and the school that she once loved, because very hard. It was hard to make friends when you could never invite anyone back home, or spend all of your afternoons and evenings working. But she didn't give up, she continued to try and learn and soon got a spot in a prestigious private school. It didn't get much easier for her, especially when you top the struggle with teenage angst and problems, but she never gave up. I loved the first half of the book. It's a very beautiful, realistically written story of the struggle of growing up not knowing the culture, no
