Werecats Emergent by Mark J. Engels

Image
Pawly is just a normal teenager, thinking about going to college and playing ice hockey, until one night, when her brother is in trouble, she transforms into something totally different. She discovered that she inherited a family curse. Under duress, she transforms into a werecat.   The story is told from two POVs,  Pawly, as she discovers her powers and deals with everything that comes with them, good and bad, and Ritzy, her uncle, whose story reads more like a thriller. The world created as a whole is well-developed and full of details, that make it more real as you read the story. There are historical tidbits about the werecats interwoven that make the story come alive. The setting just jumps from the pages, and the whole Werecats lore is very well written and established. There are betrayals, family drama, tension at every turn and enough action to keep you glued to the pages. I really liked the story, but it's a very complex one, so I was often confused about what was going on

Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone by J. K. Rowling

This was the book that started it all for me. I remember getting it and reading it for the first time. There is nothing quite like the feeling of diving into a new magical world and getting lost in the book. 11 years ago a child was born to a witch and a wizard. One year later evil wizard tried to kill him, but he couldn't. He disappeared, and his parents died protecting him. He was left with his aunt and uncle to be raised alongside his cousin. It wasn't a happy childhood. He was neglected and punched to the side until 10 years later letters started to arrive. They never let him read it, going to the extreme to prevent him from getting one. Until the evening of his 11 birthday. They were hiding in an abandoned cabin in the middle of the lake when there was a knock on the doors that would change his life forever. Hagrid delivers his letter and tells him who he really is. He took him shopping the next day and one month later he was on the train to Hogwarts. His life at school wa

A Curse of Blood and Wolves by Melissa McTernan

A Curse of Blood and Wolves is a paranormal retelling of Little Red Riding Hood. Ruby works at a bar and walks home through the woods every night. She feels eyes on her almost every time and once she confronts the stranger following her. But she doesn't fear when she sees him. Rafe is a werewolf, living alone, away from his pack. He keeps following Ruby trying to keep her safe, cause he feels drawn to her. I love the premise of the story, it's a fun take on the fairytale, and I like the paranormal aspect. The writing is very easy to get into and read, the story really comes alive before your eyes and the characters feel real. But where I had trouble was the storyline, I just couldn't get into it., I kept putting it down. rating ❤ ❤ ❤ cover  ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤ Goodreads || Amazon happy reading, anie

Ana Dakkar is a freshman at a five-year high school, Harding-Pencroft Academy. It's a prestigious school, for future marines, marine biologists, and naval explorers in the world. Since her parents died the school has become her home. The only family she has got is her brother, who is a senior.  When her class goes on a weekend trial on the sea, the whole part of the land, that house the school complex explodes. The rival school that they have been in conflict with for the last 150 years has attacked and her class is the only thing that can protect the legacy left. A few students with Ana in charge embark on a dangerous mission, all while on the run from the rival school. A retelling of 20 000 Leagues under the Sea, the story is full of adventure and nail-biting moments. Past and future merge in the story of survival, alt-tech, friendship and betrayal.  I was on the edge of my seat for most of the book and couldn't stop reading, it's so so good! Highly recommend it! rating

Obsidian by Jennifer L. Armentrout

It's one of those guilty pleasure books that I have to read at least once a year. :) It's fast-paced, full of snark and bad-boy vibes.  Katy and her mom moved from Florida to a small town in West Virginia, right next to the Black twins. The girl soon becomes Katy's best friend. The boy, Deamon however doesn't like that one bit. He thinks Katy is a bit influence and doesn't hesitate to tell her that.  They clash all of the time, but Katy is not one to back down. Then the accident happens, and that changes everything. She finds out the trust. They clash even more, but there is also something brewing between them beneath all that anger. It's a bit similar to Twilight :)), Deamon is all kinds of red flags, but that doesn't stop it from being totally addicting!. ) rating ★★★ ★ ★ cover ★★ series Lux #1 genre ya, aliens, urban fantasy, romance published November 29, 2011 number of pages 335 Goodreads || Amazon happy reading, anie
