I really wanted to like it! The premise sounds so good - a boarding school (love), set in an omegaverse, where a reality show is filmed 24/7 (love that too), featuring a Sigma from a horrible family who falls for Alphas (plural!). It's the ultimate why choose, if you can have them all, mixed with a whole lot of lore. But it felt flat for me. There are too many characters, so I got lost all the time. They kind of blended into one another, and there wasn't enough to keep me interested in reading the next book. It doesn't help that I really didn't like the FMC; she has that typical early YA personality - misunderstood, not like all the other girls... Don't get me wrong, that can be good, but it was just missing something.   rating ❤❤❤ ❤ ❤ cover ❤❤ ❤ ❤ ❤ GoodReads  ||  Amazon || storygraph happy reading, anie

Stormvalor by Starr Z. Davies

You know that feeling when you read a book so good it instantly becomes one of your favorites? The kind that pulls you in, makes you root for the characters, cry with them, keeps you glued to the pages—and then afterward, when someone asks what it’s about, all you can say is, “You HAVE to read it”? This is that kind of book. A deadly tournament. A fight to prove your worth. A chance to find a husband—or to steal one. Told through shifting POVs of three very different characters, the story paints an intense and vivid picture that ratchets up the tension and keeps you on the edge of your seat from start to finish. I was completely sucked in. The writing is so immersive, it feels like you're right there in the heart of the action. Even days—weeks—after finishing it, I still find myself thinking about the characters and all the what ifs. Highly recommend it to anyone who loves fantasy. rating ❤❤❤ ❤ ❤ cover ❤❤ ❤ ❤ ❤ GoodReads || Amazon happy reading, anie

i want you to want me: Adam by Mary Ann Marlowe (Most Wanted #1)

Image
It has all the right elements that make up a great rock star romance, but this one fell flat for me. I like the chemistry between them and the setup, so the first third of the book, but the rest... didn't do much for me.  She is a biochemist, working for a company that is developing an experimental perfume. She has a stable-ish life but is not happy. Her brother on the other hand is running after his dream. She is with him one night, as he has a performance, and starts talking to a guy. He doesn't seem like much, but there is something very attractive about him.  They spend the night together. The next morning, when she talks to her girlfriend, she realizes who he is.  I had high hopes for the MCs, but I had trouble connecting with the FMC, she comes across as very judge-y and she looks down on others. Her actions made me dislike her very much.   Adam on the other hand I liked from the start. He seems to be struggling with all the things that come from a life in...

Meat Eaters by Mededith McClaren

Image
A normal hardworking girl wakes up one day to find that she doesn't have a heartbeat anymore. She also doesn't remember dying, even though that sounds like something that would stay in one's memory. :) She has a new craving for meat that scares her. All she wants is to be hidden from the world, but slowly she is dragged into a world that is unlike ours. The ghouls, werewolves, and vampires, live in the same world, just underneath the surface. She makes friends, gets tangled in all sorts of stuff, and discovers more about this new world and herself each time. The artwork is beautiful, and I was immediately hooked by the art. The storyline was interesting, but I was a bit lost at times, not knowing what was going on. Still, I can't wait to read another one, there is just something about this story, that pulls you in. rating ❤❤❤❤❤ cover ❤❤❤❤❤ GoodReads || Amazon happy reading, anie

A fascinating read! The life of a scientist with a peculiar personality,  A fascinating view of the discovery of something new, through the eyes of the person behind it. The Dashing Zaddy and his Icy Protege by Fumito

Image
I had so much fun reading this book! Mr. Takanashi is one of the company's top performers. He is charismatic, super hot, and very popular, especially with the ladies. However, he has a huge problem with ED. He is so embarrassed that he doesn't even go on dates anymore. That all changes one night when a young Hiwatari spends the evening with him. Mr. Takanashi revealed more about himself, that he wants to and Hiwatari somehow fixes his problem. They slowly become closer and they slooowly start to open up. An office romance, with a slow burn, lots of humor, and a pretty guys. Highly recommend it rating ❤❤❤❤❤ cover ❤❤❤❤❤ GoodReads || Amazon happy reading, anie

Unholy Obsession by Stasia Black

Image
After reading the first page, I was hooked.  I'm a monster, but as so often happens with monsters, I've got everyone snowed into thinking I'm a good man from the outside.  The priest's collar around my neck helps. No one knows about the shattered glass and spilled blood. No one knows about the floggers and leather and the countless women I've put on their knees and ordered to call me Lord- It's a very sexy story, with two deeply flawed characters who somehow make each other better.   Moira is a sex addict and her life is spinning out of control. Bane took 180 from how he grew up and became a priest. His life is about to fall apart. He is still plagued by his father's upbringing and even though he did about everything to not turn out like him, he is plagued by it nonetheless. He is massively torn between what he knows is right and what he desires. And the thing he desires the most is Moira. But that lifestyle he so craves doesn't mesh well, with being a p...

A Gentleman's Offer by Emma Orchard

The story has all the elements of a great book—a Regency-era romance about an arranged marriage with a twin twist—but I couldn't get into it. Although the premise is quite interesting, it fell flat for me. Also, the writing style is not a good fit for me.      rating ❤❤ cover ❤❤ Goodreads  ||  Amazon happy reading, anie

Booked for Summer by Kathryn Freeman

Image
Jade is excited to start her summer job of managing a bookstore on Nantucket Island. For the next three months she will be surrounded by books and perfect scenery. On the drive there she runs into Liam, a rich resort owner, who will soon become her new book.  They have an instant connection, but he is determined to close the shop and she will do anything to keep it open.  I wanted to love the book; from the synopsis, it sounds like a perfect fit for me. However, I couldn't get into it. The dialogue was... let's just say not it, and I couldn't like any of the characters.  He was arrogant and obnoxious and she was over the top.  Then there is the plot... why would she try so hard for a job she had for a day?    rating ❤❤ cover ❤❤❤ Goodreads  ||  Amazon happy reading, anie

Digging Dr. Jones by Olivia Jackson

Image
Adriana is not in a good place, single with an almost failing business, she went on a vacation with her brother, who is also her best friend.  One mistaken delivery later, she is stuck with a bracelet she can't take off, and is asked on an adventure of a lifetime with a hot Indiana Jones-like scientist.  She reluctantly agrees to go, especially since there is payment involved and she desperately needs money... but all that running around, solving puzzles together and constant danger pulls them together. Andrew desperately needs the bracelet and the only way to get it is to take the girl wearing it with him... but his mission is a dangerous one, without a snarky sidekick, and her brother. They have mad chemistry and the romance that develops is just the cutest (there are lots of spicy moments too :)). I love the adventure part the most, it was like reading an Indiana Jones novel, but better.  Highly recommend it to anyone who likes spicy romance with a side of adventure. :...

Semantic Error by J. Soori, Art by Angy

The cutest story! Sangwoo lives by the rules he set for himself. He has a schedule and routines he follows religiously. His whole day is in disarray if anything were to mess with those. He is a computer major at a university. At a group project, when none of the team mates managed to contribute to the presentation, he did it himself and cut all of the other names, making them essential fail the class.  One of those teammates was Jaeyoung, a design major who failed to graduate because of that class. It ruined his plans to continue his studies abroad and made him very, very angry.  Sangwoo is working on a video game and needs a designer. His current one no longer has time and has recommended someone else. When they meet up, it's none other than Jaeyoung.  He is very determined to get back at him, and disrupts his routine, just to make him mad. What makes Jaeyoung the most mad, is the fact that Sangwoo fails to remember him, even though they meet many times. They even end up...

Here Comes Trouble by Christy McKellen

Jess is a journalist about to lose her job. She loves what she does, but her writing is not what it could be. As a last chance, she takes on interviewing an artist, who is notorious for not being keen on the media.  Xander is an artist, who has a bad reputation. Some of it is warranted, some not, but Jess can't afford to give up now.  He has struggled with his art for a long time, but being close to her, makes him want to work again. So they make a deal. He agrees to answer questions if she agrees to pose for him.  I wanted to love the story, it has all of the right ingredients,  but I just couldn't. There is very little chemistry between them, there is no tension or anticipation. Everything happens and unfolds too fast. The dialogs were not it... and some scenes were hard to read. 3 stars for what it could have been.  rating ❤❤❤ cover ❤❤❤❤ Goodreads  ||  Amazon happy reading, anie

Love to Hate You by Marina Adait

Image
The cutest story! You've got mail, but in book form (so it's even better). Summer is all about romance. She runs a romance book store, looks for a perfect meet-cute, and wants to find her HEA. Her life is not all pink and fluttery thought. She has a series of meet-uglies, and the big-box bookstore moves next door, threatening all that she built, and on top of that thing with her twin, her other half and a bit tense. She hates that book store and most of all she hates its owner, Wes. They have an epic prank war, that reaches its peak when her sister unexpectedly brings a boyfriend she never even heard of to a family vacation. And he comes with his brother, who happens to be Wes.  Forced to share a room and spend time together, their chemistry becomes undeniable. They stick together, through family drama and get really, really, close.  But they still have an epic battle to finish.  It's a true enemy to lovers' romance, with so much tension that is sure to make your heart ...

Girl in Pieces by Kathleen Glasgow

It's the story that breaks you a little and stays in your heart forever. Charlotte's life is a difficult one. She found herself in the mental hospital, too hurt to even talk. She has cuts all over her arms and legs, but the ones that hurt the most are not visible. Growing up wasn't easy, it got harder after her dad died and her mom turned into someone much worse than before. She spent a lot of time with friends, doing stuff she wasn't supposed to, and relieved her pain with cutting.  She ended up on the streets and it just got harder from there.  Recovery is hard, but the hardest part comes after, learning how to live in a world that hurts you. Her mom won't take her and she ends up in Arizona, gets a job as a dishwasher, and starts to build her life... but then she falls in love. It's not the good kind of love and she ends up hurt again. It's a story of a broken girl, who has a hard time living in this world, and who gets beaten down again and again... but ...

The Inheritance Games by Jennifer Lynn Barnes

I wanted to read this one for a long time, mostly because of the pretty cover. :) Avery is basically living on the streets. Her sister is back with her ex, who is a horrible person and she has no one else to turn to. She wants to finish school, get a scholarship, and escape it all. But then she receives the news of a lifetime. A billionaire died and left her a fortune. She and her sister quickly move all the way across the country, to her new house, which isn't empty. And the old inhabitants are exactly happy to see her there. Turns out that there were a lot of people hoping to get part of his fortune, but instead got peanuts, or nothing at all.  The thing is, though, there are conditions to her receiving the money and most importantly she needs to survive a year in the house, with people who she can't trust. But the boys are growing on her, and the mystery that they are trying to solve is sucking her in and soon she is fully emersed in the life of the house, but she will never...

Still the One by Aimee Brown

Eve and Foster had a whirlwind romance, that turned sour soon. It's been five years, and they haven't seen each other since she left. Foster does stunts on a bike and his last performance didn't go as planned, with him in critical condition. Eve is now a nurse at the same hospital, he is brought to. With her still his emergency contact, she can't just leave him be and stays by his side, conveniently leaving out the "divorced part" when everyone asks her how they know each other. :) It's the sweetest second chance romance. As Foster recovers you can see them falling back in love. The story is intertwined with past snippets that explain how they got to where they are now. I loved the first half, but towards the end, I kind of lost interest, I felt it went in circles too much. It's a lovely story, but maybe not the best fit for me. rating ❤❤❤ cover ❤❤❤❤ Goodreads  ||  Amazon happy reading, anie

Reign of Cinders and Glass by Linsey Hall and Veronica Douglas (Fated Fairytales #1)

Love it! A fairytale retelling set in a world where the immortal vampires rule.  Ella lives in a small village, with her sister and stepmother. When her sister goes missing she goes on to look for her, only to end up getting caught by the immortal prince. She somehow doesn't end up dying and makes a huge impression on him.  She is supposed to hate him, but his face keeps lingering in her mind. When she gets word that her sister might be in a castle, she looks for a job there. She is rejected, but on the way out, she runs into the prince again and manages to calm him untamable horse. She always had an affinity for animals, but in the castle, that ability gets amplified.  She is worked to the bone by the crazy sisters but doesn't let it stop her. She works crazy hours, is insulted, and is looked down on constantly, but never loses hope and never stops searching for her sister. Rekindling the Flame by Madison Myers (Smoky Heights #1)

Image
She is very set on ever going back to her hometown again, but when she finds out that her mom has very little time to live, she leaves everything and goes back home. Plagued with guilt of leaving everyone and everything, she struggles to fit back in.  Right on her first night back, she runs into a person she desperately hoped to avoid, her first love and the guy she hurt the most.  The spark between them is very much alive, and the more time they spend together, the more it grows.  It's a very touching story of second chances and forgiveness, but I had the hardest time getting into it. rating ❤❤❤ cover ❤❤❤❤ Goodreads  ||  Amazon happy reading, anie

Fundamentals in Flirting by Lucy Chalice

Image
This book is seriously the cutest! Hannah is not a people person. She also has trouble with having low self-esteem. But when she walks in on her boyfriend, she finds a bit of her inner strength and drops him on the spot. Since he was also her mentor, she lost her spot as a researcher and her relationship all in one go. Since then she has moved on, and back home, and works as a veterinarian in a small clinic. There is where her lack of people skills comes to bite her in the ass. :) After running into her old classmate and a crush, she decides to make him help her. They have a scorching hot chemistry from the get-go, but their issues are keeping them apart. The story can be a bit frustrating at parts because you just want them to be happy, but the ending makes up for it. :) It's cute and full of swoon-worthy moments. It's a slow-burn, sunshine/grump romance set in a small town, that you can't help but love. :) rating ❤❤❤❤❤ cover ❤❤❤❤ Goodreads  ||  Amazon happy reading, anie
