I read the book when it first came out and didn't like it. Like at all. Recently I decided to reread it, mostly because there wasn't anything good at the library. And because the cover is stunning. :)

The second time around I found myself getting totally sucked in and loving everything about it. It's addicting and fast-paced, you can't really put it down. Some so many twists and turns will make your head spin and the romance is... complicated. I will try to avoid spoilers and hope that she doesn't end up with Tamlin, cause I really don't like him. :) 

Feyre's family lives in a small crowded cottage in the small village. They used to be well off, but now they barely have enough to eat. Feyre made a promise to her mom to take care of them and has ever since. 

She is a huntress. Everything she knows she learned herself. She spends her day in the forest looking for a kill, so her family doesn't go hungry. Her effort is never appreciated, by her father or sister. 

Their village is not that far from the wall that separates the mortals from Fae.  She kills and skins the wolf, not really knowing that it isn't an ordinary animal. Later a beast comes into their home, to seek a life for a life taken. She is given a choice, leave and spend the rest of her life in Faery lands or die, for the life takes. She decides to go with him.

Living there is comfortable compared to back home, but some strange things are happening.

Daniel is the only survivor of the mass shooting, in which the entirety of his football team died. The only reason he survived is because he was home sick. Now he doesn't feel much of anything, only numbness. He joins online the support group and meets Maya.  Maya lost her career due to a shot in the leg and has kind gave up on life since then. They have an instant connection, but the baggage they both will keep them apart unless they find a way to overcome it It's a page-turner! I couldn't stop reading from the start till the finish. The story is full of suffering and heartbreak and is told in a very real way. It shows the emotional wreckage such trauma can have on people, especially those who are so young, and the fallout that happens.
