Synopsis

Small-town girl, Katie O’Connor has always dreamed of seeing her name in lights. Check the box for fame, a movie deal, the perfect leading role that comes with a gorgeous leading man! Katie moved to Hollywood, elbows her way into auditions, lives on a shoestring budget—whatever is required to land a deal, she throws her heart into… until she’s involved in a royal kidnapping.

As the future king, Prince Alexander refuses to rule from an ivory tower. Duty-bound, he intends to relate to his future subjects, regardless of their walk of life. Before his coronation, he needs a foolproof plan to outrun his security team and go temporarily AWOL. While visiting L.A., all it takes is a sound stage collision and Alex is blindsided by a headstrong woman who is simply irresistible. So much so, he calls in a favor in order to secure her help … as his pretend girlfriend.

Their worlds are oceans apart, but their immediate attraction is impossible to put aside, especially their nonstop banter. Miffed at being wrangled into a situation that might blow up in her face, Katie comes up with her own plan. If The Prince is serious about walking the walk of the common folk, she’s only too happy to oblige as his pretend girlfriend. Through an ice storm, a road trip, kitchen duty, and a Texas pig race, Alex captures the hearts of the locals as well as Ms. O’Connor’s.

What starts out as a deal Katie can’t refuse becomes the acting role of a lifetime… letting Prince Alexander go without a fight.
A delightfully funny retelling of The Prince and The Pauper that romance readers of all ages will enjoy. On a two-week 1,500-mile road trip, Katie and Alex discover the end of the road might just be the beginning of their ‘Happy Ever After’ together.

Review

Katie is small town girl with big dreams. She moved to Hollywood to become an actress, but so far it's not going so well. She has little money and trouble getting better roles. Her life changes dramatically when she becomes part of the Prince's plan, by accident.

The Prince is determined to experience life, away from lime light. He wants be closer to the people he is suppose to rule and can't do that under public and royal scrutiny. So he decides to make a plan, to disappear for few days.

Katie agrees to help him, but help turn to friendship and friendship turn to something more. I liked her personalty, she is though and very funny and he is very, very charming. It's one of those timeless stories, I love to read.

I especially liked first part of the book, it gets a bit slow in the middle and pick the pace back up towards the end. It's one of those stories that would an amazing movie. :)

Review

There is eery feeling to the book, which  I loved. The world portrayed in the story is very scary and chilling. I love the world in the book, however I had trouble getting into the story and staying focus. You are thrown right into the story, what I love most of the times, with Blind the Eyes I was left confused, as to what is actually happening. It was similar throughout the book. I had trouble connecting to characters and story. It's more of a it's not you it's me kind of thing, the book just wasn't right fit for me.

As the pressures of love, family, and success press down on her, can Kate keep her head above water?

Review

How to breathe under water is a story of Kate, they way her live is changed upside down, after she sees her father cheating. We see her life falling apart, but we also see her gaining freedom and finally being able to find who she is, without pressures and expectations. However growing up is never easy.

It's such a touching story, that pull at you emotions. The characters are very real and relatable, especially Kate, I felt like I knew her. :) The writing is really good, I was pulled into the story in few chapters. There were few aspects of the story that I didn't like, like the way Michael and she got together.

It's a touching story, that stays with you, makes you think and feel.

Eris is use to failure. Being the third daughter and the worst at learning about flowers. Her first task being finding her flower. After many days she finally stumbles on part of the garden she never visited and climbs the wall to find strange flower. After determining that the flower is indeed hers, she start to research about it. There is more to the story though. There is power that is tied to what she is doing and her life will never be he same.

The first part of the story is a bit slow, I tough about DNFing few times, there is a lot about flowers and castle life (what is important to the story later on), however I'm glad I didn't, because it's gets so much better. World setting of the first half sets off amazing story line in the second half. I was so engrossed in the story, that I couldn't put it down. I love the unique take on magic and Fae. It's so good. :)

Synopsis

the forest beckons

the Shadow watches

Nolin doesn’t know why her mother is terrified of the forest— only that is has something to do with her, a cold night, a baby crib, and an open window.

Throughout her life, Nolin struggles to gain the love of her crazed mother, all while grappling with recurring dreams of a twisted, ancient tree, and the perpetual feeling that she’s being watched by a dark presence in the surrounding forest.

After a childhood mental breakdown, Nolin returns to her hometown as a grown woman, ready to face her mother to put old demons to rest. When Nolin stumbles across disturbing details of her mother’s past, she ventures deeper into the mystery of her own identity, the related causes of her mother’s illness, and learns of violent, ancient creatures who live in the woods. . .

Review

The Book tell a very sad story, of a little girl, that is a bit different, might come from somewhere different, but it is still longing for her mother's love. It's kind of heartbreaking reading about her childhood, with distant mother that is plagued by illness and has no love for her.

Nolin is lovely girl, however she has a lot of trouble controlling her temper, especially at school. One day she totally snaps and disappears into the forest, not remembering anything.

There is a lot more of the mysteries to discover, about her, her mother and freaky ... thing living in the forest. :)

Although the premise is great and I loved the storyline, I got lost in the story few times, not sure what was going on, it was to slow at times and I had trouble staying interested.

It very interesting premise with a lot of very interesting elements, but it lacked depth and a bit more of explanation. I was often lost and not sure what is happening. There is non stop action, what I love, but the pace is at expense of the details, that would make story really amazing.

It's one of those stories I immediately fell in. I was hooked from reading the synopsis, I mean school for supernaturals, hidden away from the worlds and all kinds of thing keep on happening. There have different supernaturals coexisting, shapeshifters, Fae and witches, and then there is Casey. She is technically a witch, but with no powers of her own. She gets picked on, bullied from classmates and teachers alike. I LOVE the way she takes it, she fight back-hard. :) She lives in school all year round, so it's hard to escape. Her best friend stick up for her and is there for her all the time. They have amazing bond.

After her sixteen birthday everything changes, something inside of her awaken, she gets trusted into some ancient prophecy and horrible situation with the Dean.

The best and worst part of the story is the ending. Talk about cliffhanger :D. It's like: this is so amazing & WTF just happened - I need the second book, like yesterday. :))

Highly recommend it!

Demon Princess was a total surprise. Once I started reading it, I couldn't put it down. It seriously such a great book. Adriana is Demon Princess about to be crowned Demon King, after her brother and father went missing. In the middle of the ceremony she vanishes and appears in the different part of the world. Mage in training has summoned her as his beast. She hates being ordered around and forced to do someone else biding, especially because he is not very good at it and treats her horribly. His cousin is one of the bright point in her life, he shows he compassion and takes care of her. They grow closer together, even tough he doesn't know who she is and she knows he will be her biggest enemy.

I love the characters of Adriana, she is apologetically bad-ass, strong with softer side. The world created is very interesting with a lot of room for hopefully a lot more books. :)

#favourite books and/or series with Elemental Magic

I love magic in books in any shape of form, especially if there is Fae 😃. Lately I've been reading few book with elemental powers and it got me thinking how many of these I liked and  loved. Here are few of my favourites...

Elemental Origins series

I loves the series, books just get better as the series progresses. Each book follows different girl, as she discovers her unique powers.

Vampire Academy

I binge read entire series in few days, it’s extremely addictive and entertaining. :) There are two different types of vampire in this world: Moroi (they are born vampire) and Strigoi (they are maid). Moroi have elemental powers over fire, earth, air, water or spirit.

Covenant series

Interesting mix of elemental powers & Greek mythology, with amazing *will glue you to the pages till the end* kind of writing. :)

Koven chronicles

Urban fantasy-ish world with incredible magical system. Every fourth child born into the family has magical powers and called Arete. Koven chronicles is series about Fire Impender. (There are other series in the same world too :))

Relentless

Relentless is amazing story about Mohiri (immortal vampire hunters), Sara and Nikolas, werewolves and trolls and it's all around awesomeness. :) (it's too spoilery to say, but she is part Mohiri, part human and part something else that is elemental in origin :D )

For the fourth book in the series, you don't expect many surprises, but this one was definitely one. The story is extremely unique and something I haven't read yet. It's focused on entirely different mythology, that very interesting and mysterious. I was engrossed in it and  absolutely  loved reading about it and Akiko life story.

She had a very hard life to say the least. I love the way she slowly finds pieces of her life and finds freedom.

I seriously love entire book series, it so fun to read about so many different powers/mythologies and can't wait when the girls finally come together.

Dystopia is one of my favourite genre all across, so I had very high expectation going into the book. For me to fully enjoyed the story, it has to have certain element of realness to it, that *it-could-really-happen* vibe. And When They Came certainly has that.

Few years ago They came. But They didn’t come peacefully. It’s was more like the worse nightmare coming true. First they sent creatures similar to coyotes, that look around for people and then harvesters come, with ships.
People have resorted to live in small compounds, one of those is Fort Hope. When kids reach age of 17, the have to pick a job. Ana Mia pick to be Night Guard, protecting compound from Coyotes. One her first mission outside of the compound, she gets bitten. She luckily survives, but she starts to change.

It’s thrilling story, with very interesting story line. On the other side I didn’t like any of the dialog, they were too repetitive and the pace was a bit off. I wish there was more world building.
