Title: Angelbound
Series: Angelbound Origins #1
Genre: angels, demons, ya, romance, paranormal, fantasy
Number of pages: 525
Published: November 12th 2013

One of my favourite books of all time. I come back to re-read it a lot, and it blows me away every time.

Author created amazing world, with Demons, Angels, Quazy-demons, Ghouls and Thrax. Myla is Quazy- demon, part human, part wrath demon. She lives in Purgatory, that is basically enslaved by Ghouls, but it wasn't always like that. She lives with her mother, that is scared of everything and refuses to talk to about Myla's father. She goes to Purgatory high and fights in Arena for fun. :) She has a tail, that has a mind of it's own, so awesome. So, she fights evil souls in Arena, to the death. If she wins, they go to hell, is she dies, they go to heaven.

There is a lot of political drama going on, that slowly reveal itself, between angels and demons. I love it!!

Story really start when Thrax come to Purgatory. Thrax are part angel warriors, that reside on Earth and fight demons. There is something big coming and Myla will be in the middle of it.

Myla goes to arena with ghoul, named Walker. I love their banter, they form unlikely brother/sister relationship.

Her best friend is  Cissy, her demon part is envy, she is really sweet, until she is not. :) And Lincoln. I love the romance between them. In the beginning the hate each other, slowly forming truce, that turns into friendship and then more. :)

I love this book so much, it has everything I like: kick-ass characters, demons, angels, warriors, political intrigue, romance,...

I haven't read second book yet, but I will soon. :)

Happy reading,

Allie and friends go witching on the cemetery, on a dare. For Allie is more than that, she start to hear and see the ghost.

She is sweet girl, living with her father and her dog. Her mother died few months ago and she is still mourning her death. One night she wakes up by the sound of basketball. A boy moved next door and is playing in the middle of the night. She joins him and they form a friendship. His name is Cody, he moved from Montana, and has a part too.

He will become her guarding, protecting her from the ghost she summoned.

I really like the ghost part, I love paranormal and this was interesting take on it. The romance was nice too, developing slowly over time. I just wish there was more paranormal, more ghosts and summoning.

Alexandra and her best friend have just graduated college and decided to go on one last trip, before moving away and starting their life.

One night in Cancun they get a bit drunk and steal a boat, only to run out of fuel in the middle of the see.

On the other hand Ineq  and his Commander have been granted permission to go to Earth and find mates. He is methodical and not into finding love, just to d his duty.

Ineq and his friends save/kidnap Alexandra and her friends and take them to their planet, with a little stop in the way.

I like the premise of the story, the idea behind it. I just couldn't connect with the writing style.

Ally thinks she is just ordinary girl, until she gets visions. She sees something horrible happening to her class mate and is not sure what to do with it. Turns out Ally's power is something really special.

Jack had a lot of trouble in the past and is now trying to finish high school. He likes Ally and at the same time tries to keep his distance. They form really cute couple.

I really like the writing style, it just flows, and grips you from the start. Story was a bit predictable at times, but still enjoyable.

I really love reading anything to do with angels, especially Lucifer, so I liked reading this novella. It's portraits really interesting origin story.

So Lucifer was banished to Earth by other angel, to live like mortal. But... he is not really human and has bit of an anger issueπŸ˜ƒ, so he finds a leader of that country and "counsel him". One night there is a fight and human comes in contact with it and turns.

There is one angel that is on his side, Gabriel. Even when after doing horrible thing, she still loves him and it is just so sweet. 😊

It made me want to read the Blood Bound series soo bad.

Rook by J. C. Andrijeski

Rating: πŸ’š πŸ’š πŸ’š
Author: J.C. Andrijeski
Title: Rook
Series: Bridge & Sword: Awakenings #1
Published:  April 22nd 2017
Genres: adult, post-apocalyptic, romance, science fiction
Number of pages: 735
Goodreads link: Rook

Synopsis:

From USA TODAY bestselling author, a psychic warfare alternative history set in a gritty version of Earth. Contains strong romantic elements – a book in the Bridge & Sword World. Apocalyptic. Psychic Romance.

“You are the Bridge…”

Allie Taylor lives in a world populated by seers, a second race discovered on Earth at the beginning of the 20th Century. Psychic, hyper-sexual and enslaved by governments, corporations and wealthy humans, seers are an exotic fascination to Allie, but one she knows she’ll likely never encounter, given how rich you have to be to get near one.

Then a strange man shows up at her work –– then another –– and pretty soon Allie finds herself on the run from the law, labeled a terrorist and in the middle of a race war she didn’t even know existed. Yanked out of her life by the mysterious and uncommunicative Revik, Allie discovers her blood may not be as “human” as she always thought, and the world of seers might not be quite as distant as she always imagined.

When Revik tells her she’s the Bridge, a mystical being meant to usher in the evolution of humanity––or possibly its extinction––Allie must choose between the race that raised her and the one where she might truly belong.

Review:

Author created really interesting world. People discovered race of Seers and basically enslaved them. Allie think she is just regular human, until she is abducted, running from the police and marked as a terrorist. The guy that kidnapped her, was trying to save her, she was in grave danger.

I really like the setting of the story, it interesting world, that has that felling, it could really happen.

Allie is part of the special race and has important part in the future, Revik is trying to help her, but is often confusing her more.

Even though, I really like the story, I felt lost at times, and wasn't sure what was going on.

Synopsis:

In Sadira's mind, her day is going to end horribly before it even starts. To her surprise, the giant puts out the fire. However, his heroism doesn't come without a price. As a favor for putting out the fire, he asks her to help him revert back to the human he once was.

This task doesn’t faze her until he utters one word…Kappa. A word she never thought she’d have to hear again.

In a world that blends Celtic and Japanese myth and culture, Sadira and Γ“g face their pasts while trying to reclaim the lives they once had. When evil fueled Kappa are pulling the strings, who knows what troubles they will uncover.

Review:

In the world full of magic and magical creature, lives Sadira. Her past is veiled in secret and she has powers too. We meet as her caravan is burning in flames and is saved by the giant. Giants in this world are usually horrible, but not this one. He wants somethin in return, to help him be human again.

They go on a quest together, with many adventure on the way. It's such a lovely story, full of twist and turn and magic. It didn't read like a classic fantasy, more like beautiful fairytale. I really like this kind of writing style.

Story is very gripping, hard to put down once you start it. And the romance is just so sweet. :)

This one was such a surprise. After reading the first one, that was... OK, I thought to give it a try. And I am so glad I did, because The Bride of Glass is so amazing. :)

Difference between the first one and the second one is incredible. Usually, for me at least, the first book in the series is great and the next ones are... OK. Here is the other was around. :)

So, Perrie is Bride, under Vale's control, transforming people in the Glass Vault left and right. She has this amazing powers. He is abusive and controlling, using her in every way. After few day out of the Vault she starts to remember and run away, but he will search for her. She was never my favourite character (I couldn't connect with her in first one), I like her a bit better now. We see her grow and develop.

Maisie and Neven are looking for Perrie, to save her from Vale's clutches. She is definitely my favourite part of the series. So special and unique, however there is depth to her. I love that there is more of her in the book.

Story of what is happening now is intertwined with characters stories of the past. We get to know them, and understand them a bit more. Especially Maisie and Vale. And the romance... it's just sooo sweat.

The world portrait in this series in as interesting, as scary at the same time. I was on the edge of my seat, the are a lot of twists and turns. I wanted to know what happens and at the same time didn't want to finish it. :)

Highly recommend it!

Happy reading,

Anie

Synopsis:

Across the Darkling Sea is the first book in the new serial fantasy series Magicfall, by K. Ferrin!
Magic is forbidden in Brielle, but that never stopped Evelyn. Until Now. Because Evelyn has discovered she is magic, and now she is running for her life.
Her only hope is on an island cloaked in shadow, an island of dark magic and even darker beasts. An island warlocks call home.
Evelyn’s friends have turned against her, her own mother tried to kill her, and the place she calls home has banished her. Hidden away in the belly of a riverboat, a stowaway, her journey begins.

Across the Darkling Sea is book one in a serial series. Each book is roughly 50,000 words or about 150 pages. To emphasize, this is a serial series, meaning it’s one story that stretches across multiple books.

Review:

This book is really something special and totally unique. I don't think I've ever read something like this. :)

So Evelyn lives in Brielle, only place in this world, that forbids magic. That doesn't stop her though. Every time she travels with her father she gets little bit of magic, until she gets special seed. She plants it carefully and on the day we meet her, goes to check it. But something is wrong, the raft she made for it is broken and the seed gone. Before she knows it, she is in the middle of the city, her mother trying to kill her and friends abandoning her. Town witch saves her and explain, she's been living the same day over and over, because she is changeling. Made of magic and place instead of the real girl. She decides, that she will find the warlock who did this to her. Every day she has to write everything that happen in a special book, because in the morning she knows nothing.

The world is really interesting, full of magic and mystery. The story has so much potential and I hope that there will be next book. :)

Not a fan of ending though, it was a bit to abrupt. I understand that, this is the format of the book, but I just want to read more... like now. :)

Happy reading,

Anie
