Ashling Donoghue never dreamed moving to Ireland would rock her perception of reality and plunge her into a mystery that brings legend to life.
At seventeen, she’s never had a boyfriend, but she feels an immediate connection to Aengus Breasal, the son of the wealthy Irishman who’s invited her family to stay at his Killarney estate. For the first time in her life, a guy she likes seems attracted to her.
But Aengus is secretive, with good reason. He and his family are the Tuatha Dé Danann, ageless, mythical guardians adept at shifting between this reality and the magical dimension known as the Otherworld. Evil forces from that world threaten the Breasals, the Donoghues, and all of Ireland. Ashling must open her heart, face her fears, and embrace a destiny greater than she could ever have imagined.

The night air was deliciously cool. Moonlight and darkness held equal sway over the backyard thanks to the shifting clouds. I dashed across the lawn and halted in the exact spot where Aengus had stood. Panting, I looked around, willing some kind of clue to materialize.
The ruins in front of me darkened as large, heavy clouds swallowed the moon whole. The wind tugged at my long, loose hair and pajamas. Tiny raindrops spattered on my nose and cheeks. I turned my palms to the sky, and cold rain pelted them.
“Great.” Intending to return to the house, I swiveled around.
I gasped. My right hand flew to my chest. “Aengus?!”
The man himself stood an arm’s length in front of me. “Why are you here?”
“You scared the crap out of me!”
The strident sound came from the ruins. I whirled around and stared at the dark keep.
Aengus grabbed me from behind. He pulled me to him and wrapped his arms around me. I reveled in the feel of his taut body, of his warm flesh against mine.
Suddenly, everything changed. The rain stopped. The wind died. The entire landscape was bathed in the soft hue of twilight. Breasal Castle looked brand spanking new, just as it had during the bizarre dream in which I brought Aengus to the cottage. But this time, I knew I was awake.
Dumbfounded, I gawked at the medieval magnificence before me. I had no idea what had happened and no desire to pull away from his embrace.
His lips brushed my right ear, sending a shiver down my spine. “This way.”
His right arm released me, and his left slid down to my waist. Maintaining body contact the entire time, he steered me toward the stand of oaks on our right.
Once sheltered by the trees, he turned us around so we faced the castle.
“Are we hiding?” I whispered.
“We are.”
“Why? And what just happened?”
“I can’t say.”
“Can’t or won’t?”
Until that moment, I’d forgotten I wore pajamas. Now I was acutely aware of it. Satin was pleasing to the touch, but something told me my attire had nothing to do with his grip on me.
I looked up at him. “Not that I mind, but why are you holding me so close?”
His hand tightened on my waist. “It’s necessary.”
“I don’t suppose you can explain that, either.”
With his gaze locked on the castle, he shook his head. He pressed his right forefinger against his mouth in a silencing gesture. Then he pointed up at the keep.
High on the battlements, the black-haired woman from my dream—and from Branna’s painting—paced back and forth. Her hair whipped about her pale face and slender frame.
She paused beside a gap in the crenelated wall and glared down at the fairy mound. Her colorless lips curled into a sneer. Then her human form morphed into a dark shadow, which fragmented into what seemed a million black particles. They swarmed into the air and shot across the twilit sky, disappearing into the distance.
I took a deep breath. “So she’s real.”
He nodded. “She’s real, to be sure. Come.” With his arm still hooked around me, he led me out of the woods and toward the fairy mound.

OMG, this book is amazing!

Vala was born scorched with magic in a world where magic was long gone. She was special. Trained as a Guard, she was Princes main protector. One night, during her weakly bath, Prince left for Forbidden lake to celebrate. She went after him  and was almost to late. There were assassins and someone else. Someone who fought differently and was like her.

The story is full of twist and turn and surprised me a lot of times. I really like the way it all turned out.

Vala is interesting character, that really grows from naive girl in strong bad ass women. The friendships and romance is also evolving and not what you think at first.

I really love it.

The story sound really good. Girl of very different divorced parents, minor rock star for a dad and mom, who makes electronic stuff (wi-fi, satellite links,...)for outdoors gatherings, like festivals. On one such job, mom leaves her, to come back next day. Only she doesn't returns.

I struggled with writing most of the book, I often felt lost and wasn't sure what the story was really about, what is really shame. It could be really good.

My favourite Disney princess is Belle and I love to read stories with Beauty and the Beast revellings.
Dragon Rose is one of the best I've read.

There is Dragon, living in the castle, who takes a wife every few years. Everyone is afraid of him. The Elders of the town draw names in order to determine, who will marry him.

Dragon hasn't takes a wife in a long time. Rhianne dream of it beforehand, she has kind of gift for it.
When the name is drawn, it's her friend, who is engaged to be married soon. Rhianne takes her place and goes to castle willingly.

The dragon is not what he imagined. He is always dressed in dark cloak, covering his entire body and head. He gives her liberty, to do whatever she likes. She is a painter, her father makes pottery and when his eyesight diminished, she took over the painting of it. In secret of course, because painting is not the job for a women.

In the castle she has access to unlimited supplies and canvases. She keeps dreaming of a guy and start to pain him little by little, not knowing that the painting will change her life.

I love this story, I could not put it down. It is just so pretty :)

Highly recommend it!

One of the scariest books, I've ever read. I was too afraid to leave the room, after reading it. The scariest stories are the ones, that could really happen... to anyone.

There is this spooky and really dangerous cult, that was disbanded, years ago, when leaders went to prison. Now the are out.

Alex Mercer runs blog for missing children. After a relative goes missing, he posts about that to. He has really good detective skills and has a vital part in uncovering what is happening.

Scary good book.

I just regret I didn't read previous books first. It is good book to read as a stand alone, but I wished I knew a bit more about what happened before.

Received book for in exchange for honest review.

Lately I'm having really good luck with contemporary novels. I have not read one contemporary novel this summer, that wasn't amazing.

This book is just sooo good. I read it in one sitting. The writing is really light and pace paced.

And the story, it just so swoony... (not sure if that is even a word:) ). So, first narrator is Layla, sophomore, cheerleader, really popular and also dyslexic. She is dating Adam, who I hated from the start, and even more later one. He certainly deserve everything, that happened to him. One night on date, she discovers that he was cheating on her and tries to text the girl, but because if dyslexia she makes mistake and text complete stranger. The text back and forth for long time.

Other narrator is Tyler. He is football player and bit of a class clown, but there is more to him. He is caring, and sweet and doesn't have perfect home life. He and Layla are always at each other throat. But that might change :D.

I just love it. It is really cute story, that pull you in form the first page. Perfect summer book.

Highly recommend it!

Mitchell Morrison and Josie Sedgwick have spent their whole lives at the Indian Paintbrush Community Village, a commune full of colorful characters tucked in the mountains of North Carolina, and they aren’t particularly close–at least, not anymore. Josie wishes she could spend all of her time at Paintbrush planting tomatoes, hiking the trails, or throwing giant communal birthday parties, while Mitchell can’t wait to escape the bizarre spiritual sharing and noisy community dinners. Luckily for both of them, high school graduation is just around the corner.

But when Mitchell’s mother makes a scandalous announcement that rocks the close-knit Paintbrush community, and Josie’s younger sister starts to make some dangerously bad decisions, the two find themselves leaning on each other for support – and looking at each other in a whole new light. Their childhood friendship blossoms in to something more as they deal with their insane families, but as graduation approaches, so does life in the real world, forcing Josie and Mitchell to figure out what, exactly, their relationship is – and if it can survive their very different plans for the future.

Sneak Peak:

“Hi.” I tighten my grip on her waist, and she moves her hand from my shoulder, sliding her fingertips slowly, until they rest on the back of my neck. I close my eyes.
When I open them again, she’s staring at me, her face so close I can see the flecks of brown in her green eyes. It would be so easy to kiss her. Just a few inches. It would be the easiest thing in the world.
“We’re a mess, aren’t we?” He grins at me.
I can’t help it—I lean into him, pressing my shoulder into his, wanting to feel his warmth and his soft sweatshirt, wanting to be a part of that smile.
I shrug. “All the best people are messy.”

OMG, I love this book so much. I read just few contemporary books a year, because I prefer fantasy and books with paranormal elements and I am so happy I picked up this one. I love the story, pace, characters, plot line all little twist and turn. It reminded me a bit on Mean Girl, not sure why, because story is not really like that. :)

Camy has a best friend and is a tutor. She sticks to the side lines, because she was betrayed by her then best friend long time ago. One day she stumbles on secret website, setup by guys in her high-school, where they talk trash about girls. She links iit to the queen bee of the school and next thing that happens is ban on dating guys.

It's such a fun book, that touches on really important subjects of friendship, trust and many more.

One of my favourite contemporaries this year.

Highly recommend it!

I usually love fairy-tale retelling, well fairy-tales in general. And... I have to say, this one didn't convince me.

So this is a story of Brie, who has a special talent, she can spin gold. Because of that talent, she is often used, making her fell like a bank, by her boyfriend and parents. When strange people come after her, she is saved by Stilt and they escape together to the Fable, that is like realm of magic, where fairy-tales live.

I have to say, that the plot is interesting. It's about not really mainstream story, and I love that. My trouble was, that I wasn't pulled in to story, I didn't find it gripping enough.

I still like it, just not love it.
