Jilian works for an online magazine as a relationship/dating expert. But she can't even talk to a guy face to face. Her advices are not based on real life and she is about to lose her job. She has just moved to a tiny, a little bit creepy apartment in NYC, but there is someone already living there. Daniel doesn't remember much from before. He is good-looking, always shirtless, and also a ghost. She is also the only guy Jilian can talk to. He starts to help her with her love life in hopes that he could move on, but with that much time spent together and all of the attention he gives her, she starts to fall for him. I like Jilian's personality, her geekiness and that she always wants to follow her heart. Daniel is the complete opposite of her, he has a very realistic view of life, especially of dating. They are complete opposites, but that is what makes them work together so well. I love the first half of the book. It's such an interesting premise, but I kind of lost int

Best Frenemies by Max Monroe

Mack and Katy are both teachers at the same school in NY. Mack teaches music and his class is often very loud, while Katy tries to teach math. But they don't get along. Mack is very easygoing and loved by everyone. Katy has a huge problem with that and is very uptight. On long awaited getaways they get stuck together in the same place. Being that close together means they get closer, especially after Katy gets injured and he takes care of her. It gets hot and steamy fast, but Katy has no idea what she wants. She foes between wanting him and totally ignoring him all of the time. I like the enemies-to-lovers narrative and the forced proximity of just one holiday condo. It was a funny and entertaining story to listen to. Unfortunately, I didn't like it as much as I thought I would. I didn't like the narration and had trouble staying focused on the story, especially with the male parts. The story also felt very immature, and it would be nice if the characters had more depth or

A Curse of Blood and Wolves by Melissa McTernan

Image
A Curse of Blood and Wolves is a paranormal retelling of Little Red Riding Hood. Ruby works at a bar and walks home through the woods every night. She feels eyes on her almost every time and once she confronts the stranger following her. But she doesn't fear when she sees him. Rafe is a werewolf, living alone, away from his pack. He keeps following Ruby trying to keep her safe, cause he feels drawn to her. I love the premise of the story, it's a fun take on the fairytale, and I like the paranormal aspect. The writing is very easy to get into and read, the story really comes alive before your eyes and the characters feel real. But where I had trouble was the storyline, I just couldn't get into it., I kept putting it down. rating ❤ ❤ ❤ cover  ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤ Goodreads || Amazon happy reading, anie

Girl in Translation by Jean Kwok

Kim and her mom arrived in NY in search of a better life, with the help of her mom's older sister. She got them an unlivable apartment, without heating in cold NY winters, with broken windows and no furniture. She made them both work at a sweatshop for very, very little money and then she took most of it. Kim had to go to school in a new country, barely knowing the language and not knowing the culture. She stuck out and the school that she once loved, because very hard. It was hard to make friends when you could never invite anyone back home, or spend all of your afternoons and evenings working. But she didn't give up, she continued to try and learn and soon got a spot in a prestigious private school. It didn't get much easier for her, especially when you top the struggle with teenage angst and problems, but she never gave up. I loved the first half of the book. It's a very beautiful, realistically written story of the struggle of growing up not knowing the culture, no

He worries about coming out to his dad, but mostly he worries about Charlie.  He sees him getting worse and worse, to the point that he doesn't spend much time at school.  They both have to come to terms that they can't be everything for each other and find a balance between love and everything else.  rating❤❤❤ ❤ ❤ cover ❤❤❤❤❤ artwork❤❤❤❤❤ Goodreads || Amazon happy reading, anie

Heartstopper Vol. 2 by Alice Oseman

Charlie and Nick continue to fall deeper and deeper in love in the second book of the Heartstopper series. The book is cuteness overload.  Charlie has known that he is gay for a long time, but for Nick, all of this is very new. He is not ready to tell anyone just yet, so they keep their relationship a secret. At least for a while.  But they are not as subtle as they seem. :) The story is adorable and relatable and it just makes you want to read more. The writing is good and the artwork is seriously adorable. :) rating❤❤❤ ❤ ❤ cover ❤❤❤ ❤ ❤ artwork ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤ Goodreads || Amazon happy reading, anie
