Maddie is the first book in a new series, Vampires in Wonderland. It's a retelling of Alice in Wonderland, set in the modern world. There are vampires living in Wonderland and they venture out to find humans to feed.
Maddie's sister has been trapped in the Queen of Hearts prison for two years and Maddie is forced to make hats for the queen. Her latest plan fails and instead of her sister, Alice is saved. They have to bring her brother Noah to Wonderland to keep him safe.
Noah is determined to cure Alice, no matter what it takes. Maddie and Noah set out to get a cure, and save her sister in the end, but nothing is that easy. Their path is filled with danger and the more time they spend together, the more sparks fly.
Maddie is a very steamy story. The author took known elements of the story and made it their own. I love that there are vampires living in Wonderland, however, my favourite thing about the story is Maddie. She is eccentric and lives to her own beat. She is very loyal to her sister and known to make reckless decisions. But there is just something about her, that made me root for her till the end.
And now I can't wait for the next book! :)
