Daughter of Smoke & Bone by Laini Taylor

I've read Daughter of Smoke & Bone a long time ago. A few days ago I saw it in the library and remember how much I loved it. So, naturally, I had to read it again. :) It's even better than I first time round and this time I'm determined to read the entire series. :)

Karou is an art student in Prague.

Her family is a bit different. Though special door, she has to go through Issa, a snake lady, to get to her adoptive father, Brimstone who trades with wishes. She goes on errands for him, all over the world, collecting teeth.

One day black handprints start to spear on special doors, portals that Karou uses, and people reports seeing angels everywhere.

Karou doesn't pay much attention until one attacks her.

Akiva stopped feeling anything a long time ago, now his mind is set on revenge. Until he comes across Karou, doing the devil's work. There is something about her, the way she moves that brings back memories.

When secrets are revealed, nothing can go back to the way it was.

It's a beautifully tragic story, with awesome characters, an intense storyline, and absolutely beautiful writing. The world, the mythology created it's brilliant, the more I knew, the more I wanted to know.

Highly recommend it!
