City of Ghosts by Victoria Schwab

One of my favorites from Victoria Schwab. I read it one the last day of the year, and I couldn’t tear my eyes from it. It’s so good, intense and the writing is just beautiful. The story just… flows.

Cassidy is just a normal girl. Her best friend is a ghost, who saved her when she almost dies and ever since then they are connected. Ever since then she has one foot in this world and one in the world of death. She can access the world of the ghosts through the veil.

Her parents can’t see or sense ghosts, but they make living writing books of haunted stuff & paranormal. They got a new job, making a tv show, a documentary that will take them all around, filming in haunted places. First step Edinburgh. In such a city that is filled with history, there are a lot of ghosts. And an adventure on every corner.

It’s one of those books you have to read in one swoop. It pulled me right away and kept me till the last page.

The writing is beautiful. I felt like I was right there with Cassidy and Jacob.
