Angelfall by Susan Ee
Angelfall is the first book in one of my all-time favorite series. I love all three books & it’s a mush re-read at least once a year. π
Angels came to Earth, and the world ended. The cities were destroyed, people killed and those who remain, live like scavengers, some joining street gang, other trying to survive on their own.
Six weeks after the world has ended Penryn, her disable little sister Paige and paranoid schizophrenic mom (who doesn’t have her med anymore) are moving to another place, in search of food and shelter. A little while after they start to move, angels land not far from them, in the middle of a vicious battle. There is one angel who fights multiple opponents until they overpower him and cut off his wings. When they are escaping they kidnap Paige, her mom runs off and she is left alone.
On a whim she decided to help fallen angel, he might know who took her sister. She bandages him, hides him and waits. Turns out he doesn’t have many more answers then she does, but after much very entertaining bickering, he reluctantly agrees to help her.
On their trek to the eirie, they stumble on a resistance camp. There are some people trying to fight back and strange creatures eating people.
It seems like the world is against him. There is more to the story, many questions left open.
It’s one of those books that stay with you forever, the story is amazing and Penryn and Raffe have by now a permanent residence in my mind. :)
happy reading,
