Synopsis:

Black eyes. No emotion. No sympathy. Only emptiness.

Piper McAdams’s life was normal. Career? Check. Boyfriend? Check. Friends? Check. One unsettling run in with a homeless man turns everything from normal to terrifying. She begins seeing…things.

Things she can’t seem to explain or make any sense.

As if things aren’t already getting out of hand, Piper receives news that the only family member she has is dead. She thinks maybe a trip across the country to her hometown will get her away from all the strange events happening.

After a late night accident, Piper isn’t in her hometown burying her loved one. She’s in a town called Hell. All she wants to do is leave, but the people seem to be holding her there for some reason.

A reason she feels threatens her life. Around every corner things become darker and scarier.

Can she escape what is coming for her?

Review:

Wow, this was one of the spookiest books I've read this year. It's one of those stories, that stick with you. Book was on my mind a lot, and it's definitely one of those book, you have to read during the day. :) Especially the end...

Piper had a really ruff childhood. She was abused by her father and after closed in small closet. She heard voice there, talking to her, from the darkness. One day, when she was in the closet again, someone came to the apartment and her father disappeared. She spent rest of her childhood with her grandfather, living on the countryside in Alabama. When she turned 18, she moved to New York, where she got her degree, job and a boyfriend.

One Friday night, at her snooty boyfriends family dinner, she notices homeless guy. Before she knows it, he is grabbing her and then he leaves without a trace.

She sees things in the dark, shadows moving. It gets a lot worse, when her grandfather dies and she goes back home. After creepy accident, she ends up in town called Hell, where all gets a LOT worse.

There is a reason for all the thing she sees and experiences.

The ending though... it was perfect and soo scary. :) I really liked reading it. Pace it's quite fast, except for the middle part, where it dragged a bit.

Perfect for Halloween. :)

Happy reading,

Anie
